The bronzer that helps guide you while you put it on will wash off the next time you cleanse but the color will stay there. I would say it the color lasted about 2 days after only one application. I suggest applying more everyday after you see what the color is going to be like for you.

The directions say "use all over" but avoid the eyes, so I guess that means you could use it on your face. However, Bare Essentials makes a "faux tan" powder that looks great and provides some SPF protection. I substitute the faux tan powder for "warmth" with excellent results. (very natural!)

I have used it before I went to bed and I did notice a little on my sheets. I don't think I let it dry long enough before hopping into bed. I have not noticed any on my clothing.

I haven't had problems with it staining, but I usually apply it in the evening an hour or so before I bathe, so any excess comes off then.

This color lasts and doesn't wash off in the shower. I think every other day or every third day would probably be frequent enough to maintain your color. Make sure to exfoliate before each application...color will last longer.

Question
swimming?
ok, i have this product at home and I have been using it for about a yr or so. I know you have to wait at least 8 hrs before u can come into contact with water, What I am wondering is if anyone has followed the directions as far as applying and waiting the proper amount of time and then gone swimming in a pool? Has it streaked ,faded ,came off or looked blotchy? Thanks for the answers and help in advance.

I typically apply the product a day in advance before swimming and it it does not streak. I have not tried applying in less than 8 hours and swimming. I do shower 4 hours after applying the product and it does not seem to affect it. I know it is not the same as swimming though.

Question
Self-Tanning Lotion
I have been allergic to every self-tanner I have tried. I think it is the DHA in the tanner. I was on a web site forum reading about others who are allergic to tanners. One person mentioned that they use your product. Does your product contain this ingredient or just less of it perhaps?

if your skin isnt dry or flaky, you dont need to buff it first. it will help the self tanner last longer if you exfoliate, but just as important is staying moisturized before and for the days following application to make it last.

After more research I found a more extensive ingredients list and unfortunately the fragrance portion of this tanner DOES contain parabens:

Ingredients for:

Faux Tan Self-Tanner:

Purified Water (Aqua), Dihydroxyacetone, Caprylic/Capric, Triglyceride, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate (and) Peg-100 Stearate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Stearate, Dimethicone, Propylene Glycol (and) Tyrosine (and) Glucose, Aloe Barbadensis Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate), Ascorbic Acid, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Phenoxyethanol

Fragrance (Parfum), Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Sodium Metabisulfite, Citric Acid, BHT, Tetrasodium EDTA, Blue 1 (CI 42090), Red 40 (CI 16035), Yellow 5 (CI 19140)

I will not be purchasing this product because of the synthetic materials and dyes that I am now aware of. It's unfortunate because I thought BE was truly "natural." Hope this info helps.

I've been wondering the same thing and found this info online:

Bare Escentuals Faux Tan Self Tanner is a lightweight formula that dries quickly. It will not clog pores and is safe for sensitive skin since this is a natural based formula. Aloe vera and vegetable emolients protect the skin, keeping it fully hydrated, moisturized and soft. Don’t forget to use an exfoliator first for best results.

Ingredients

Purified Water (Aqua), Dihydroxyacetone, Caprylic/Capric, Triglyceride, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate (and) Peg-100 Stearate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Stearate, Dimethicone, Propylene Glycol (and) Tyrosine (and) Glucose, Aloe Barbadensis Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate), Ascorbic Acid, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Phenoxyethanol.

Looks like there are no parabens or lauryl/laureth sulfates....I've heard mixed things about propylene glycol but overall the ingredients list looks pretty safe to me.
