YES! I used it on both natural and synthetic brushes and they were all so clean after! It actually conditions the brush hair, leaving it soft.

I absolutely love this cleaner. My brushes felt virtually brand new after I cleaned them. I noticed that it works the best if you lather the brush then soak it in a glass of warm water. I repeated the process about 6 times, and my brush was like new! Just plan on letting the brush dry for AT LEAST 12 hours...

It doesnt take that long...prob a couple hours but if your in a hurry you should try Sephora's daily brush cleaner (anti-bacterial formula). It is great for quick changes and in between washes and dries in a matter of minutes.

I would say it takes 2 days. If I wash the brush in the evening of Day 1, it will need to dry all of Day 2. It depends on how water-logged the brush is where the bristles meet the handle. You should be able to use it again on Day 3, but definitely by the morning of Day 4.

I think it helps to squeeze out as much water as possible. After I squeeze with my fingers, I also squeeze out excess water with an old towel. That way, you can really tell how much water is still in the brush.

Also, if the makeup didn't get all the way to where the bristles meet the handle, I'm careful not to get water any higher up the bristles than is necessary. Try to keep the water running toward the tip of the brush, not backward into the base & handle.

I think the trick is: don't water-log the base, and squeeze out the maximum excess. Good luck!

Hi,

I do a thorough cleaning at least once a week and wash them under running water each time I use them. I stand them up to airdry, and they're ready the next day. I don't know exactly how quickly they dry, just that it's less than 24 hours.

Hope this helps.

Question
How often should brushes be washed?
I am sure this depends in part upon how much they are used and other factors (for instance, I have fairly oily skin, so my brushes may need more frequent washings). I only recently switched to BareMinerals makeup, and in the past I never used brushes... I have no idea if I should wash them daily, once per week or what.

Hi,

I do a full cleaning at least once a week, and a daily cleaning each time I use a brush. If I'm in a really big hurry, I might just run the brush under water, and then let it air dry, but I try to do better with a daily cleaner if I can, and then a full cleaning at least on the weekend (and maybe another time during the week, time permitting). My brushes last a long time.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
if you use your brushes daily, you should wash it once a week. Clean brushes means you'll get a better application for the BE mineral foundation/all over colour/blush etc.. Cleaning the brush more often will get rid of all the nasty bacteria that can cause blocked pores/acne. Even if you don't use your brushes often you should still clean to get rid of possible dust. Also, the BE brush cleaner actually conditions the brush hair and make it softer and last longer as well.

I have combination skin and use this product weekly. I can't imagine that you'd need more than that as you're not mashing the brush into your skin, so there's limited contact.

Hope this helps!

sure, you can use whatever you have or whatever product you like. but in my opinion, this is such an amazing brush cleaner and this is what i would suggest for the brushes. go into your sephora and ask for a sample- try this and compare with your old brush cleaner for yourself!

Ive tried other brush cleaners on my BE brushes and nothing could replace the BE cleaner. The other cleaners left the brushes dry and stiff...it even felt prickly on my face. I suggest sticking with this conditioning shampoo for your BE brushes!

Hi,

I've used probably all the brush cleaners at one point or another. One doesn't really seem to be any better than another. The only difference I've found is that some are anti-bacterial and some are not, but that doesn't have anything to do with performance of the cleaner. My brushes last a very long time.

Hope this helps.

I've heard to never use hand soap (moisturizing or not) on makeup brushes- it will dry them out and cause the bristles to get hard/dry & break. Remember, brushes are made of hair... Would you use hand soap on your hair? If you're not going to use a brush cleaner, I think shampoo would be a better choice.

I have always just used a liquid hand soap to clean my makeup brushes. I put some soap in my hand, work it into a lather, then rub the brush around in the palm of my hand. I would do this until the water runs clear after rinsing my brushes out. I purchased Well Cared For last month and wish I hadn't. It gets the job done but doesn't do any better job than my hand soap does. Save your money and use a moisturizing hand soap on them instead.

BE Brush Shampoo vs Sephora Brand?
Has anyone had experience with the Sephora brand shampoo and the BE shampoo? I like the fact the Sephora shampoo is antibacterial... and the sense of value [more shampoo for your buck].

It really just takes a drop of shampoo to clean the smaller brushes and no more than a dime sized drop to clean the larger brushes, so the small amount of shampoo goes a long way. I haven't used the sephora cleanser, but I use well- cared for in combination with the anti-bacterial daily sephora spray cleaner.

Hi,

I've used both. They both seem equally as good. The only differences would be if you wanted antibacterial or not. I alternate between different cleaners because some medical folks feel people are overdoing the antibacterial use. I don't have any skin issues. If I did, I'd go with antibacterial all the time.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
i personally prefer the Bare Escentual cleaner more than the Sephora brand one. It cleans so much better, all the makeup on my brushes were removed with a dime-sized amount of the Bare Escentual. I remember i had to use so much of the Sephora brand to completely clean my brushes. I would recommend the bare escentuals over the sephora brand. A little goes a LONG way.

Like any make up brush, it needs to be cleaned often. I clean mine once every other week, although it's probably best to do it every week. If you are more prone to break outs, I would clean it weekly. Sephora also offers a daily spray cleaner, too. I have both and they both work great.

Try to clean every 4-6 weeks. I know it's hard to find time, but you will notice a difference. Plus, once makeup and bacteria gets built up on your brushes, they're more likely to make you break out.

I like to wash my brushes once a month. I have several brushes that have designated uses (foundation, bronzer, blush, bare radiance, etc.), so once a month works well for me and makes me confident that I'm applying the best color and keeping my makeup routine hygienic. If you use one brush for multiple uses, washing it once a week would be fine - you have to use so little of this product to get your brushes clean that one bottle will last a long time, even cleaning your brushes weekly. Just be sure to follow the directions of gently washing the brush and pointing it down toward the sink when rinsing, and this product won't damage your brushes at all :)

It's best that you clean your foundation brush as often as possible. I understand a lot of people can't wash it everyday.

At least twice a week is best. Since the oil from your face can build up on the brush, and also depending on how you store your brushes there might be a lot of dust collected.

It's like not washing your face when you don't wash your brushes.
