If you want to build a tan, I would say use it before you go to bed, again in the morning and maybe late afternoon/ evening again. After that I use every other night and it helps me maintain a nice, even glow.

you should use it two mornings/nights in a row for a stronger natural tan. It lasts about a week and it is so natural, you'll love it!

You can reapply whenever you like. If I want my face to have more colour then I apply a couple of times. This product gives such nice colour. I will never use anything on my face except Clarins Liquid Bronze!! Hope this helps. :)

I would say depending on how tan you want to be. If you're very fair I would say take it easy at first, apply every three days. I am a medium skin tone and the first time I used this I used it for two consecutive days to get some color and to maintain I would say I apply about every 2 or 3 days, depending on how much I am cleansing and exfoliating my face :)

To build color, I would use this twice a day -- it does take some time to show up. To maintain, I'd use it daily...the color tends to fade fairly quickly if you don't reuse the stuff on a daily basis.

Needs a good 4-7 days to build, still working on figuring out the maintenance.

No it will NOT turn you orange!! I apply with a sponge wedge, goes on smooth and a few hours later you have a nice glow. If you want your face darker then reapply. You can keep building until you reach your desired colour. Hope this helps....:)

If you are worried about paleness, moisturize lightly first then apply tanner. I always apply the tanner directly to my face and the color is lovely, I wish it were darker!

I am extremely pale myself, and no this did not turn me orange after I properly exfoliated. I only apply one thin layer, and follow with my regular moisturizer.

No, it didn't turn me orange in any way and I am very pale as well. I love to moisturize, so I still did after this (I use it at night), but you probably wouldn't have to.

Question
Self-tanning for whole body
Hi,
I am as white as they come and have gone through coutless self-tanning lotions, sprays and so forth. Do you have a recommendation of a product that would provide a real-looking tan for a fair person, and that is also not high maintenance? Or even a lotion/oil that gives a nice subtle shine that may have a hint of tan?
Your help is appreciated very much.
Thank you,
Sarah

I would NOT USE this for my whole body, it would be far too expensive. What I use and it is wonderful and cost effective, I fined is Vita Liberata for my body. It was originally made for people in Ireland (cuz they are so pale) However Vita Liberata is a great product. Mousse for younger skin and gel (more moisturizing) for us older gals. Hope this helps :)

Hi, I would NOT use this for my whole body...it would be far too expensive. What I use and it is a gorgeous colour, Vita Liberata (I use Extra Rich 3 Star gel and because I am older and have more 'mature' skin' and my skin is light-medium) If you have fair skin then get the 1star or 2star. Go to the product site and investigate, they have extended information for U. Hope this helps. :)

The tanner the better for me, so I apply this every day after I shower! also after I wash my face at night. That's just me! If you wash your face morning and night like I do, then apply every day to maintain.

I recommend this product, I also have fair skin but it has not made me orange-y at all. You may need multiple applications, but it is not a slimy formula like most others that leave a sort of film, so it is not annoying to apply this.

Question
Will washing my face wash off the tan?
If I wash my face twice a day will this product rub off and defeat the purpose of developing a long term tan? Will it mean that the developing of the tan will have to re-start every day when i re-apply?

Only if your cleanser contains exfoliants (such acids or retinoids) and/or is a treatment product.
If your cleanser does contain these ingredients it CAN lessen the time of your 'tan', but it will not remove it instantly.

I wash my face twice a day with the Clarisonic and it's doesn't remove the tan, but when I exfoliate my face it does.. so I reapply.

I don't think you will have to restart the whole process, because when I was using it I had some on my hands and my hands were orange and I tried several times to wash it off and it was really hard. It's sure that if you use whitening face wash or harsh exfoliating products you will have to restart the process a little bit everytime !

Any cream/liquid product opened for more than a year should be discarded to avoid any reactions or lack of effectiveness.

answer 2
The tanning agent DHA has an effective shelf life of about 6 months to a year, so I would recommend throwing out any product that is over a year old. You might still tan slightly when using your expired product, but it will by no means be as strong as the tan you would receive when the product is under 6 months old. The other tanning agent, Erythrulose, has a longer life and may still provide you with enough color. If you use the expired product and like the color you get, then go ahead and keep using it. It doesn't turn to poison, of course -- it just gets less and less effective.

Should I apply with fingertips or cotton pads? And should I use an upwards circular motion?

Definitely fingertips. I think using a cotton pad wastes SO much product and it is extremely difficult to apply an even amount. The first time I used this I used a cotton pad and I ended up getting a tan mustache (not a good look lol) I just apply some to my fingertips and rub my fingers together to get even distribution on both hands and try to apply as evenly as possible, but still working quickly because this product tends to dry. Hope this helps!

i use my fingertips because i dont want to waste the product on the cotton pad. and it's just like a very thin lotion - you can apply it upward, circular, whatever... it's sooo simple.

Question
I use acne products will this actually get my face tan?
I have mild/moderate acne and oily skin. I use retinol based serums, vitamin and salicylic acid spot treatments on my face to help with those issues and it leaves me very pale on my face and neck from hiding from the sun :( My body has a nice glow and my face and neck most certainly DO NOT. Anyway will this product work and help me match the rest of my body?? If anyone has any ideas please please help!! Thanks a bunch!

I also suffer from the occasional break out. Unfortunately I have not found a product that will not break my skin out 100%. That's due to the DHEA that they put in the product that reacts to your skin to create the color. The best product I have found on the market that will give me a nice glow and not that many boo boo's is Clarins. They are reformulating the product right now and you can't find the gel anywhere, but seems like most all of the stores still have a good supply of the milk. The new product is a cross between the two and is available on the Clarins website. I ordered some last week and have enjoyed it so far!

Good Luck! : )

It didn't work for me at all. I'm oily and prone to break-outs and it didn't make those conditions work...it just never changed the color of my skin. I also tan my body but cover my face. I wouldn't waste your money on this. L'Oreal makes application towels that work pretty well and are much less expensive.
