Questions & Answers for Clarins Toning Lotion - Normal/Dry Skin

Question
For Sensitive/Dry Skin?
I have really dry and sensitive skin prone to allergic reactions to some herbs. I've used kiehl's ultra facial toner, paula's choice skin recovery toner without any problem they all have no alcohol/frangrance. I saw the ingredients for this and it has some artificial colors and fragrance to it. Will this irritate my sensitive skin? Anyone with sensitive skin used this and had any problems?

I'm pretty sensitive, too. The trouble with skin like ours is that it's really hard to tell what will set you off. Some people think that the less natural products are the triggers for allergy and sensitivity, but in my experience, the actual allergic rashes (redness, hives, bumps, stinging or contact dermatitis) have almost always been a result of a particular plant or flower extract.

This lotion works well for me, I've never reacted to it and it even soothes windburn during winter. My suggestion would be to ask in store for a sample. Clarins is famous for their deluxe sized samples, which usually last for a week or so. That's usually enough time to see if you react. Using it on a small area once a day should give you an idea of whether it's right for you. Good luck!

I have really dry, red, sensitive, fair skin and this is both effective as a toner as it is gentle. I use it after washing my face at night and sometimes in the morning I use it instead of washing my face again--sometimes it's just too stripping to face my wash in the morning.

Clarins also has a toner for dry or sensitized skin called extra-comfort toning lotion. With anything you would have to tested it on a patch of skin and see how you react to it. I would check it out.

I would not recommend someone with sensitive skin to use this toner. You can try Clarins' orange toner which is designed for sensitive skins.

Clarins do provide another toner for sensitive skin. I do have sensitive skin but I guess I am not that type of serious, so I just use this one-Dry/ Normal Skin. It won't make you feel dry or irritating.
I have tried the one from Kiehl's then I got some red spots on my face..
I think it is because I did not pick the right one (?)
Anyway, I strongly recommend you to try this one!!!!

Question
Does this work with Rosacea?
I have a mild case of rosacea and have sensitive, combination skin. I have tried numerous toners but none work too well. I was wondering if this toner would react badly with my skin. Thanks in advance.

It's a better option if you have rosacea since it does not have alcohol but it will not get rid of your symptoms. I've been using Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair and it has been helping tremendously... I heart the ANR line

It doesn't really change the redness, but it does help soften and soothe the irritation that sometimes results from rosacea. It completely removes any traces of cleanser, so you don't really have a residue and it preps the skin nicely for moisturizers and other rosacea treatments.

One of the ingredients that people are surprised to learn really helps rosacea is sulfur, so you might want to look at products that have sulfur to add to your routine. :)

Although I've technically never been diagnosed with Rosacea, my skin is also very red, tight and dry. I have found this toner to be really gentle and still effective to remove left over makeup and refresh the skin. Just make sure you have a sensitive face wash and lotion/cream. This toner is wonderfully simple and works well!

we have the exact same skin type...isn't it so frustrating?!? i don't know how much it has helped my rosacea, but it has definitely balanced out my skin and i haven't had any allergic reaction to it at all, even with the bit of fragrance it has. my rosacea has improved over the course of several weeks of usage, but I also started using Origins mega mushroom serum and that has helped tremendously. i highly recommend that product as well. i do use the clarins toner nightly and use the Origins serum in the morning and so far no more red cheeks!! hope this helps :)

Camomille is known to work as an anti-inflammatory. My friend with sensitive skin uses distilled camomille and a cotton pad to rub on her face when it acts up. I'm not familiar with rosacea, she uses it when her face becomes overly red due to stress.

I recommend that you give this gentle toner a try. I sometimes get a lot of redness and irritation. This toner is pleasantly calming and seems to make my skin better able to absorb whatever lotion or cream on put on next. The only product I've tried that compares with it is the Cle de Peau toner, which is about triple the price of this Clarins product.

I use it to get the last bit of make up off before my night ritual. Most people use toners prior before the am ritual as well. So that means after cleansing, tone, then start in with serum etc.

Sometimes, if my face needs freshening after a long day, I will use the toner around my nose.

yes! this is the best way to use it. Cotton may soak it up, but if you are using 100% cotton, the toner will get to your skin (vs. staying stuck trapped in the cotton ball, as some balls with rayon will do.) This is also the best way to use it after cleansing to remove make-up, as you can see that the makeup is removed.

Question
does this remove dirt from skin?
I've used Clinique clarifying toner 2, it certainly can remove dirt from skin, I can see yellow stuff on my cotton pad. But it has a strong scent of alcohol which I don't like!!!! Does this lotion work the same as Clinique? Is there any visible dirt on the cotton pad after using it?

I went from Clinique 2 to this product after an Air France flight. They have it in the restrooms on the plane. It smells much better. However, it does not fight break outs as well. It does give some dirt on the pad but not like the Clinique!

No i think clinique ones are a bit more stronger and has a more pharmaceutical feel to their products. this one is quite gentle and as a teen i used this product with just lotion as a daily regimen and worked fine to hydrate at the time. Has a mild scent and is thick in texture- very emollient.

It sounds as if your skin needs something besides a toner and I think you should start looking for a repair serum and a moisturizer to help balance your skin. While you're finding a system a mild toner would work well so I would say that this is ok.
