Hi,

Make sure you have the right sharpener. Some sharpeners have guards inside that make them adjustable for different sized pencils and some may be too small. If the sharpener doesn't fit correctly, you'll have too much product loss. If it's even a tiny bit too big, the crayon may be gouged as it rotates, resulting in loss.

Hope this helps.

Question
sharpening?
Dumbest question ever, just bought and love, but how do I advance the pencil? I don't see that it twists any where but the outer pencil feels plastic, like it wouldn't be used with a sharpener.

This is a tad drying, so lip balm underneath and on top would be the best bet to keep it from drying out. I don't find this chalky at all,

It will work, I wear mine over balm a lot. Be advised the color will go on a little lighter than over dry lips, but still very even.

answer 6
I would say no, but you should exfoliate your lips and then apply a thick balm to help with the dryness. Drinking lots of water helps also. I have dry lips also and one of the associates at Sephora recommended Bite Lip Mask and it works! It's thick and meant to be worn over nite, but sometimes I use it during the day by itself. Lipsticks over this tend to slide off. Hope this helps

Do you need a lip liner under this?
The color on these, while fabulously pigmented, doesn't tend to last on me very long. Would a lip liner all over my lips under this help that, like with other lipsticks? If so, which lip liner would be recommended?

I have used a few different liners with the Cruella color, both nude and one that closely matches. I use lots of different brands in different price ranges for liners, so I don't have one to recommend specifically. The lipstick lasts a good while for me no matter which liner I use.

I would absolutely use a lip liner under this pencil. The lip liner extends the wear and keeps the moisture locked in! I brought the red NARs liner to compliement my color pencil which was cruella.

Yes, you need a larger sharpener though. NARS sells one it fits in and I believe it fits in the UD grindhouse one. I recommend putting it in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes prior to sharpening.

Question
Color
My mum got the Cruella lip colour for her birthday and she hated it so she gave it to me. I was wondering if this colour would be okay for my skin tone. I'm a "light" skin tone (white. I don't tan.) With dirty blonde hair and slight roseaca (am I spelling this correctly?) that gives me a blushed look even though I barely wear mascara.

I have the same skin colour/rosacea as you, and I personally love Cruella. It didn't make my red cheeks stand out, but keep in mind it's super pigmented; a very deep red. Almost vampy on me. It's not an everyday lip colour for me, but it's gorgeous and I wear it for nights out. It could very easily make you look more pale, so if you want to avoid that, this colour might not be for you. Hope that helps!

Why does Cruella look hot pink on me?
i love love love Cruella....when it isn't on my lips. I am 19 and have very fair skin. My natural lip color is a very very light pink. When i apply this to my lips, it looks hot pink! I have this problem with a lot of reds. Why does this happen and how do i fix it?

Try applying concealer on your lips before using Cruella. That should neutralize your natural lip color and allow the red to stand on its own. Good luck!

This also happens to me with every red lipstick I've tried. Dragon Girl looks bright fuchsia on me! Like Jade4NJ said, it must have something to do with warm undertones -- I suppose it's now time to shop for the perfect primer!

Try only applying it in the center of your top and bottom lip, and then blending it out with your finger or a q-tip. It'll make the color less intense and concentrated. Or put a layer of chapstick on before you use it. That usually works for me!

yea its just from your lips natural pigment. to fix it you can put a lip primer, concealer, or foundation on your lips. it blanks them out and creates a base for your lipstick.
