How do you get Nars crayon lip pencil to fit into sharpener.
I have bought a couple of the pencils and just bought the sharpener. I cannot get the crayon into the device deep enough to make it work.

sls14 is perfectly right, I could not figure it out at first but if you pull out the bulky adaptor on the larger hole, the lip pencil fits perfectly!

Hi,
Make sure you have the right sharpener. Some sharpeners have guards inside that make them adjustable for different sized pencils and some may be too small. If the sharpener doesn't fit correctly, you'll have too much product loss. If it's even a tiny bit too big, the crayon may be gouged as it rotates, resulting in loss.

I bought a Wet n' Wild dual sharpener and it fits the pencil perfectly and it wastes VERY little.

Okay... I had that problem at first too. But there is a removable adaptor on the larger side, and the pencil fits perfectly if that's taken off. Hope that helps!!!

my advice would be to apply a lip moisturizer/ balm 1- 2 minutes before applying any lip pencil. that will smoothen out the application and help against drying out.

Yes, it does dry out my lips a little. That is what I don't like about it, I prefer the lipstick version over the pencil version. And yes, the finish is very matte and velvety.

The pencils do not dry out your lips, but your lips will not feel moist. So you get a matte finish. What is nice is that you can either have the matte finsh or add a gloss and it wont bleed on you. These are great in that way, they are versitile.

I love these. It is not drying. The color stays in place for a very long time, and has a nice finish. Even when the color is gone (after about three hours) my lips still feel moist.

None of the shades are what I would consider to be glittery, although a couple of shades have a slight velvety sheen to them. One of them isn't even available here on Sephora (Toundra, which is metallic). S*x Machine has a a subtle sheen. Bettina does, as well, if I recall correctly. But most of these are fairly flat matte colors.

None of these are glittery at all -- are you thinking of the glitter eye pencils? These are all highly pigmented with a matte finish.

I have tried sexmachine and it has pieces of glitter in it. I also looked at a few in the store and they all looked frosty. So obviously HayleyDiane has never tried these.

In my opinion, it has such great color pay off that i don't think layering it would make much of a difference. Hope that helped!

I layer it all the time and it looks great! The only thing I'd recommend is using a lip balm first because sometimes the color gets darker in any creases in your lips with the more layers you put on, but it's perfect either way!

With one quick application, it is pretty light/sheer. More product applied deepens the color. I added a darker lipstain on top and it didn't affect the staying power, just the smoothness of the lipstick (the stain made my lips dryer). It's easy to modify the color with other products. I used a sheer gloss on top and it did affect staying power, but made the product look completely different. Very versatile!

Even though I already had an Estee Lauder two-size lip pencil sharpener in the back of my makeup drawer, I thought a new sharpener for my NARS VMLP would be, well, nice. Wrong! After shopping around I went home and dug out the EL sharpener, and it's a PERFECT fit.

What's the difference between Cruella and Dragon Girl?
What is the difference between Cruella (crimson red) and Dragon Girl (scarlett red)?
I tried the Cruella at a Sephora, but they were sold out, and I see they are also sold out online.
Does Dragon Girl have too many orange undertones? Are they comparable shades?

Cruella is a red with blue undertones. It doesn't "pop" into super-bright red against my fair, slightly blue-undertoned skin. Dragon Girl does; it's brighter and more vivid. I personally prefer Cruella because it's glam and dramatic without being bright or loud on me. But the effect of different reds depends very much on your individual coloring and style. I'd go into a Sephora store and try them both on.

I think Dragon Girl is a way more vivid of a red than Cruella, which is deeper. Personally, I prefer Cruella -- it's definitely a noticeable red (cool toned), but I think it's more flattering than Dragon Girl, which is just super bright.

Why does Cruella look hot pink on me?
i love love love Cruella....when it isn't on my lips. I am 19 and have very fair skin. My natural lip color is a very very light pink. When i apply this to my lips, it looks hot pink! I have this problem with a lot of reds. Why does this happen and how do i fix it?

Try only applying it in the center of your top and bottom lip, and then blending it out with your finger or a q-tip. It'll make the color less intense and concentrated. Or put a layer of chapstick on before you use it. That usually works for me!

yea its just from your lips natural pigment. to fix it you can put a lip primer, concealer, or foundation on your lips. it blanks them out and creates a base for your lipstick.

Under Turkish Delight, you probably want a pink shade -- so I would go with Roman Holiday or S ex Machine. Both are gorgeous -- Roman Holiday is a bit brighter, though, so I personally prefer S ex Machine.

Red Square is likely a shade that Sephora does not carry, or no longer carries. You can still find it on the NARS website, though, so it has not been discontinued!

they have available in the velvet matte pencil on the Nars site, but they are no longer making it in the lipstick. I love Jungle red (lipstick) and also the dragon girl (velvet matte pencil) they are vivid red's as well.

Usually, it will say "out of stock" if it will be available later. You can also check in store and they can find out for you. Unfortunately, if it's a popular color it can be difficult to find in store or online.

Nude Pencil
I had been using Perscriptive MAGIC nude pencil to cover eye freckles and correct mistakes ie lip liner.... Since that item has been discontinued, I am wondering about a good replacement? Is there s nude pencil that would work as well to spot cover flaws and correct mistakes? Skin is light / fair.

I would definitely use a concealer stick or pencil -- while I love these pencils, and highly recommend them, they are meant for your lips, not your face. Make Up For Ever and Urban Decay both make great concealer pencils, which would be a much better option for you!

I don't know about the comparison to the prescriptives stick (I loved their magic powder, btw), but my experience with the pencils has been that the pigment is very rich and covered any flaws I had on my lips. Hth.
