Questions & Answers for Fresh Soy Face Cleanser

Question
I was told by my derm to stop use due to the soy because it could cause hormonal breakouts. Is this something that I should worry about ?
I have hormonal acne.

I also am I former sufferer of hormonal acne... not since I started using SOYFRESH! I have stopped using in favor of caudalie, which is just as good for me and doesn't test on animals.
I have occasional mild hormonal acne around my jawline, usually I am blemish free. If your hormonal acne is more severe, I highly recommend the clinique regime for acne control. It has just the right ingredients for hormonal acne (B-peroxide, SALY acid) but for me, it is a little to drying. I still use it occasionally if I have a really stubborn breakout.

I've been going through menopause, for what seems like a lifetime!!, and this cleanser has not caused me any irritation or breakouts. I, too, suffered from hormonal acne, but it wasn't because of this product. My acne did subside, and I'm still using this cleanser.

I don't think so... I think if you have hormonal breakouts, it is caused from your hormones fluctuating, not from a topical cleanser that is only applied briefly.

answer 11
I have hormonal acne too, but I don't see how using the soy cleanser would affect it. What causes the hormonal break outs is the fluctuations in hormones, which comes from within. Would your derm suggest this because of the phytoestrogens, because it's prob just a trace amount, and you're not consuming it anyway. If you like the way it works on your skin, why not stick with it?

I am sure the results vary by individual, but I have combination skin and this was too drying and mildly irritating(splotchy redness around the eyes). I did not find it moisturizing. Maybe there was just an ingredient in the formula that was not compatible with my skin as other users don't seem to have these issues. Advice: sample prior to purchase.

I would only recommend Korres Milk Proteins 3 In 1 Cleansing, Toning and Eye Make-Up Removing Emulsion. It is very gentle, but still cleans your face and thoroughly removes makeup, which most face washes for sensitive skin just don't accomplish. The new formula smells of honeysuckle, has the texture of melted ice cream, and you have the option to tissue it off. If you decided to tissue it off, it leaves your skin very comfortable and hydrated. It will never clog your pores and treats your face well. I recommended this to a person who had rosacea and FLAKES all over because she washed her face with soap and didn't moisturize (scream!), and after using this, her skin was balanced, moisturized, and comfortable.

I believe this product is great for people with really sensitive dry skin! My skin gets incredibly dry during the winter and this is the only thing that I can use without drying my skin out! I do use another moisturizer in addition to the Soy Face Cream however because it doesn't offer as much moisture as I need.

I think this works way better than Purity. The Purity does smell better, but I like the smell of the Fresh Soy cleanser too (like cucumber). The Purity leaves my skin feeling a little stripped and like I need to put on moisturizer right away, whereas the Fresh Soy leaves my skin feeling clean and perfect. Also the Fresh Soy works great as a rinse-off eye-makeup remover. It is like baby shampoo, it doesn't sting at all. Don't try doing that with Purity, it stings a lot!

I used Purity first and liked it but I always felt that i wanted something cleansed pores better without being harsh. I got Fresh as a sample and thought my face was cleaner - the pores were less clogged. I didn't think much of it and went back to Purity. While in a Sephora store, I picked up Fresh again because it was always in the back of my mind that I'd like to see the results on my pores again. I have to say for cleaning out the pores, Fresh is it. Purity has a more pleasing scent, Fresh smells like cucumbers and grass stems. I like both smells. I just think Fresh does a better job. I always remove my eye makeup with special removers so I can't speak to it not getting makeup off. I just feel that the soy based products really clean the pores. If that is the case for you, you may find that you have extra breakouts for a week while the pores clean, then your skin will be gorgeous. My face looks awesome and all I do is was with Fresh and moisturize with Clarins. Before I was using ridiculous amounts of products to get the same look. Fresh I go to first now, Purity is my second choice.

Soy Face Cleanser is an amazing, soap/detergent-free cleanser, and completely free of GMOs, phthalates, synthetic dyes, synthetic fragrance, or sulfates. It is also a top-selling cleanser at Sephora.
There are a few corrections that need to be made to some answers provided:
The scent in Soy Face Cleanser is from natural ingredients and sources. It does NOT contain synthetic fragrances.
Fresh DOES indeed list all of their ingredients as require by the FDA using internationally recognized ingredient names.

Hope this helps clarify and this is a cleanser I recommend highly!

While neither fall into the catagorie of "green",Purity is more naturelle."Fresh" products irritate me,because, they package themselves, so that they look naturelle. Both lines have parabens, but most of the time Philosophy stays away from the most irritating things, like parfumes and dyes. Fresh uses parfumes(the most popular irritant) in evevything I have tried. The worst though, is that they do not ever list all their ingredients, and I feel it is because if we knew, it certainly, would not match the pakaging, or the way they are described. As someone who grew up in Europe, in an enviroment/Famalie that were very enviro-conscious,and naturelle/organik, was/is much easier to disern and find, companies here make it more difficult.Sephora helps, but I am weary of any line that, does not state their ingredients on all things. This line would be catagorised as Botanikal, meaning anything from a few to a lot of naturelle ingredients.Somethings , just look like they are unfairly marketed, and they know we do not have time for looking it all up.Anyway, after all my preaching, it comes down to,Philosophy, seems to be more honest in their promotion. So, if you are like me go with Purity, and by the way it really does take all you're make-up off,and they have a telefon #,for any questions, even if you are going to buy it somewhere else.

Having been hooked on Purity for a while now and having recently tried the Soy Cleanser, I'm kind of torn. They're pretty close but Fresh's Soy feels like it makes my skin very fresher; then again, Purity smells beyond better so it's a toss up. If you feel Purity leaves your skin feeling not quite right, stray to Soy; but if you don't like strong tofu smell, don't.

I broke out after using Purity for about 3 weeks. I have oily skin, but hardly ever break out. I was using Soy before Purity, and just like to try different things. I think I'll go back to this though. It's so gentle, and doesn't remove all my makeup though. I use makeup remover towelettes, then this cleanser to really get the clean, and soft.

Both products work very well at removing makeup and are both suitable for use with the Clarisonic if you have one. The Soy cleanser smells somewhat like cucumbers which I find refreshing and not overpowering as some have said. I can't quite place the smell of Purity but it also has a light and fresh smell. Neither cleanser leaves your skin feeling "squeaky-clean" if that's what you're looking for but I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and neither have caused breakouts. Overall, they're both very similar in effectiveness but the Soy cleanser leaves your face feeling a little softer than the Purity. Based on product alone, I would prefer the Soy cleanser but because they both work well for my skin, I buy the Purity because it's less expensive. Hope this helps!

It is the ONE AND ONLY cleanser I have found to remove ANY mascara you throw at it. It's completely safe on your eyes. I use a little to wash my face and concentrate with gentle rubbing on my eyes on days I wear mascara. It washes almost all away in one wash. Any very slight residue I wake up with washes off easily the next morning. It doesn't dry out your skin at all. A little goes a very long way. In regards to smell, I don't think it has a smell at all really. Nothing unlpeasant about this cleanser.

The smell is pleasant but if you are wearing heavy coverage make up it will not remove it all. And it might even leave some eyeliner on your face. I found this to be a good cleanser if I used it on days that I wore no makeup.

It smells kind of like a fresh flower? It isn't to strong but has an odor. Not unpleasant, but not pleasant, if that makes sense? It removes everything pretty well except my eye makeup. At night I use the purity face cleanser because it gently removes my eye makeup and in the mornings I use this product.

Yes it's a pleasant gentle scent. Imagine slicing cucumbers with your front door open just before it starts to rain. It's pretty good at removing makeup but like most cleansers you probably want to wash twice if you use a long wearing foundation.

It has a very distinct smell, which I honestly don't mind but if you don't like the smell of soy you might now enjoy how the cleaner smells

This has a neutral smell, although it might bother some people because it smells natural and isn't really scented. It smells a little bit like cucumber, but not quite; it smells watery.
This cleanser does remove makeup.

I have very dry, sensitive, eczema prone skin. I have to say after trying so many cleansers that irritated my skin right away on contact, this cleanser was very soothing and gentle on my skin. It made me look forward to washing my face after trying out products that would make my skin feel like it was burning. Also it did not dry out my skin after washing. I will repurchase.

No it will make your skin so much less dry, especially if paired with their face moisturizer and the rose mask is awesome.

Absolutely not! I have very sensitive/dry skin and even 'gentle' and 'oil' cleansers dry my skin out, this has never dried it out and also leaves no greasy residue!

Obviously, if you read the ingredients there are 7 different ingredients ending with 'paraben'. One paraben is harmful enough but 7? not very natural!
