Questions & Answers for Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish

Question
Can this be used on the face?
I am aware of the Sugar Face Polish product -- love the strawberries!

But you could use the Brown Sugar Body Polish gently on face, couldn't you? I realize it may not have been created for that area, but from the ingredients listed I don't see why not? So I am asking? I am blue-eyed, fair, dry, mature skin that has not be subjected to excessive sun exposure over my lifetime (naturally, being in my 50s means sun exposure has accumulated so I do have very small amount of hyperpigmentation, but it's manageable; I just have no lines. I hydrate. I use spf.). My question is directed at anyone who has used Fresh's body polish on the face and any feedback about that.

Thanks so much. Love these products!!

Hi,

I use both. I wouldn't use the body polish on the face, and vice versa, since they're made for specific body parts. I think the body polish might irritate the face or clog pores. However, I do think the face polish might be okay on the body but I wouldn't do it more than once.

Hope that helps.

The sugar granules are too large to use on your face. If you were looking for a "stronger" scrub than the Sugar Face Polish, try the Appleseed Brightening Exfoliant. The Appleseed line will help with your hyperpigmentation too!

I wouldn't use this product on my face. It contains oils that may be too "oily" for the skin on your face. It may clog your pores...

Ok for Diabetics?
This product looks great, but is it absorbed through the skin? Is there any data on this?

This product should be FINE for use on skin. The glucose from the brown sugar cannot be absorbed through the skin if used topically on the OUTSIDE. It is safe for diabetics. If you eat it, then it will raise your blood sugar and you'll have other worries. But if you use it on skin only, you'll be fine. I'm a doctor so I know how glucose is absorbed into the bloodstream.

I would stick to salt scrubs just to say safe. The bliss shea based scrubs are wonderful too, but I dont think sugar scrubs are a good idea for diabetics.

$65.00 is a whole lot of loot but I think of it as if you got something that actually works and definately makes and impact on the look and feel or your skin well its worth it. And you only need a small handful for you entire body!

As far as I know, it does not. If you are very worried, I would contact the manufacturer. "Fresh" makes some awesome products. This one is a splurge for me, a real treat! I love it! Really soft skin when I get out of the shower. And, you want to wet yourself down before using. Lightly pat dry and you feel so amazing!

Hi,

I use mine with both my Clarisonic brush, and with a net puff that I bought at a discount store for a dollar. I find I use a whole lot less with the puff than with the Clarisonic so mostly I just use the puff. The results are well worth it. When I got my Clarisonic, I thought I'd be using it on my legs, so bought the more expensive Clarisonic, but this polish is good enough on its own that you really don't even need to bother with the Clarisonic for the purpose of this Body Polish.

But to answer your question, yes you can use it. And to add to it, it works better than the polish that came with mine.

I love my Clarisonic, but I'm not using it with the body polish.

Hope this helps.

Since the granules are so big on the sugar, I wouldn't recommend it. I think it would be like using sandpaper at that point.

Question
Will the oils cause breakouts?
I'm interested in trying out this body scrub but I am concerned that it might cause breakouts. I occassionally get breakouts on my chest and back area and this product contains mutiple oils in it. Has anyone else with my kind of skin (combination) successfully use this?

It doesn't contain any petroleum, lanolin, or mineral oil, so you shouldn't have any trouble with this product. Since it sloughs off dead skin cells, it may help with your breakouts (which may be caused dead skin cells clogging your pores).
The Fresh Umbrian Clay products are great for breakouts.

Hi,

I've found that this goes a really long way. I only use about a teaspoon full, if that much, and push it around on one of those net puffs that can be purchased for about a dollar. That little amount covers my entire legs. I thought it would be expensive to use, but I've been really surprised at how long this lasts. It's really made a difference in my legs - I thought they were fine before I started using this, but I can see and feel a real difference now.

I know this didn't answer your question in full, but I thought I'd address the cost aspect. I didn't expect to need to use so little to get such great results. The container has lasted a very long time.

Hope this helps.
