The best way to use this bar is to only wet one side of it, rather than wetting the whole bar, like the instructions say. I wet the shorter end of the bar with my fingers first then wet it again until the texture is creamy. Apply this "cream" with your fingers or with the bar, onto your face (wet or dry- however works better wet). Then just keep repeating. You will need to repeat wetting the bar because it is clay, which tends to dry fast. After applying the clay where you want, store it in a plastic bag because it will last much longer. Wait 5 minutes. Rinse off. Viola! easier right?

Just wanted to give everyone the best way to user this bar for a masque.

First wet your face with warm water.

Second, drop water on the bar (or spritz with water if have a spray bottle) and rub the water in a circular motion to create a thin, muddy layer. Rub bar gently over your face. Repeat if necessary.

You should not put the bar under water. This will cause the bar to disintegrate quickly. If you simply wet your face and rub a dry bar over it - the mask won't have the correct consistency. The mask should on the thinner side and dry completely in 7 minutes max. 5 minutes should do it. If you use this in the shower - there's enough time for the treatment and removal. Also the steam in the shower also helps me.

Store in a water proof soapbox.

I've had my bar for 3 years :) It's in two pieces but still going strong.

Fabulous investment.

Again - don't immerse in water!

You can run the bar under water and smear it directly onto the face or run it under water put some on your hands and then place it onto your face. Let it dry completely. It won't hurt your skin if you leave it on longer than what is suggested. I use it as a spot treatment sometimes on pimples I can feel coming, just like toothpaste, but better!

Either or. The best way is to literally rub one of the ends on your damp face ad is you were rubbing on deodorant (that's the best way to describe it.) after 5 minutes it will dry and just wash it right off!

I cleanse my face first with my normal cleanser. Then I wet the clay bar with warm water and simply rub the bar over my face, which will leave a thin layer of the clay on the skin. Let that dry, then rinse with warm water and follow with your favority moisturizer, if desired.

Though it is in bar form, I wouldn't recommend trying to use it as a soap -- lathering in your hands, we'll say. First, its doesn't lather, and second, it doesn't take very much at all to coat the face. For a "mask-type" use, I simple leave it on my skin for 5 minutes (it dries in about a minute), and just lay down and relax during that 5 minutes. I think the extended time on the skin draws out more impurities.

I store my bar in a plastic travel soap case, rather than on the sink or in the shower (that will shorten the life of the bar).

Hope this helps!

I choose to use it sparingly because it is hard to find in stores, plus I'm frugal. I wet my hands, then use one side of the bar. It's a mask, so you only need enough water to get some "soap/mask" on your face to form a thin film. If you are lathering it up that's too much. You have to wait until it dries, then I use a warm wet towel to remove.

I rub either the end of the bar across my damp face or take a finger, put a drop or two of water on it then rub it across the bar then my face. If you want to use it as a mask, just put as much as you want on your face and let it dry for at least five minutes. It rinses off easily, unlike some clay masks.

1) Cleanse your face as usual.
2) Wet the short edge of the bar.
3) Rub wet edge of bar DIRECTLY on your face. (You will have to re-wet the bar often, but try not to wet the ENTIRE bar--it will last longer if you keep it from getting too wet)
4) Let clay dry (it's mask-like)
5) Rinse off, pat your face dry.

I have extremely oily skin and I use this 2x every day! It does not dry out my skin. Just be sure you don't use anything to harsh or drying afterwards. I was still trying to use my regular toner after this and it made my face too dry.You only need this bar. It has helped clear my acne. Just this and nothing else. Stop everything else and you will see the difference.

Depending on your skintype, but yes. If you have oily or oily combination skin it will have a less drying effect, however if your skin is dry then every other day may be a better way to use this.

I'm using it once or twice a day, everyday, until my skin clears up, and then probably most days after that. It's that good, but also so gentle. Unlike virtually any other acne product, this doesn't dry or burn or sting. What a great idea!!! I've suffered enough from the breakout - I don't need to suffer from the cure!!!!
I'm using Pangea Organics facial creams or argan oil or DeCleor Ylang Ylang Night Balm. I think anything natural would be the best complement; mine range from light (PO) to an oil to very intense (DC YY is natural oils and waxes, almost like a vasoline texture) just as my skin varies.

So far (for 1 week), I've used the clay daily --- and I can't see why you wouldn't. It's like any other facial cleanser you may have... it's just made of clay. :) I have somewhat oily skin (in my T-zone), so I only use a moisturizer 1x/week --- except around my eyes.

I have combination skin, but I can tell you that those oily areas benefit from this bar (especially when used as a mask). The clay pulls the excess oil from the oily areas (forehead/nose/chin) while not over-drying my dry areas. If you have acne and use prescription topical medication, you may experience irritation and/or excessive dryness. As far as sensitivity, there are no chemicals, fragrance or fillers in the product. It is 100% white clay so you shouldn't have any issues there.

With shipping, duty, etc., this bar cost me about $50 to ship to Canada. And I would pay it again in a heartbeat. It's worth EVERY penny --- and then some. They say the bar can last up to a year, but even if it only lasts 3 months, it's so worth it. Why? Because when your skin is clearer, you don't have to gunk on a lot of makeup to cover up your zits. So, as silly as it may sound, you could save money on makeup along the way. (BTW, I use it as a daily cleanser and, 2x/week, as a mask.)

Of course, I'd much rather spend $50 on a product that works than $25 on a product that doesn't. :)

I tried to use this daily and kept it in the shower so I wouldn't forget. However, the daily moisture started to make it break down pretty quickly. Now that I allow the bar to dry completely, it seems that it will last a long time. I've been using it 4-5 times per week for about a month and I can't even notice a difference in the size. It makes my skin feel amazing so I definitely feel that it was worth the expense.

I used my bar for about three months before it broke into teeny, tiny pieces. I continued to use those teeny, tiny pieces out of a baggy for month s after that. It lasts a loooong time and is definitely worth the price. I haven't tried the tube, as I think I would use more and go through it much faster. You only need a thin layer to get results. If you're careful with this bar and keep it dry when not in use (don't drop it!), it will last for months.

It's completely worth it! It lasts forever! When you run the bar over your face to use as a mask, it puts the perfect layer of product on your skin and hardly any ends up on your fingers if you dry your hands first. I've had mine for a month and after using it weekly for said month, it's shown no sign of wearing down. It still looks brand new!

dear friend, i, as well have very large pores, and uneven skin tone, sensitive skin, very oily...uffff, to sum it all up i have the worst skin. i m always looking for something really good to buy. i thought this was pretty expensive, too, bad since sephora is so good with their return policy, i decided to go for it. this soap i believe will last u 2/3 months at least. u just wet ur face, and wet the soap also, rub it against ur face, to make sure u cover the entire face, i go as far as my bottom lashes, and on top of my eyes, carefully so i dont get it inside the eye. u may need to wet the soap several times, and rub more so that u get more of the product. after that, u wait a few minutes, it will dry on ur skin, i keep it much longer though. then just wash it off. i liked this product so much that i bought one the next day for my sister-in-law. the whole process may become a little messy if u r as careless as i m, getting it on the sink, and around the sink, but it cleans very easily. i say do give this a try for couple of days, keep it f u like it, return it f it is not doing u any good! o, one other thing, the soap may break, after a few uses, which i think is not bad, this way, u can store all the pieces in a ziplock bag, and use one piece every time, it will even make it easier to be applied on ur face, around the curves and all. so i hope this was helpful and good luck!,

This helps a bit, but it should only be used once a week. For better results, I'd suggest investing in a cleanser with 2% salicylic acid and using it daily. Also, every other day or at least twice a week, exfoliate with a gritty scrub immediately followed by the cleanser. It worked for me. you can use this to help PREVENT blackheads, but with regards to actually making blackheads go away, it really depends. Since blackheads are hardened oil, drying them out more which the clay does temporarily, will not make them worse but will not make them go away. Blackheads need to be softened and extracted (if they have properly surfaced, DO NOT pick at whiteheads, aka, the ones that are still stuck below your skin). You can use a moisturizing treatment (or albolene) on the heavily blackheaded area ONLY, and leave on for like 10 minutes after you have washed your face, then the blackheads will soften and you can extract them with a tool or clean towel (don't use your bare fingers because no matter how careful you are, you can traumatize the skin). The wash the area again to prevent infection. The clay though CAN and will help close everything up and keep it from becoming infected again, so you can use it after. Plus the clay is so calming that it soothes any irritation so in a sense it helps your skin to heal better on its own. Hope this helps!

I do the 5 minute treatment every morning and my skin is fine. At night, I use the Clay in bottle form and just clean normally after washing my face with Purity to remove makeup.
If it were drying my skin out, I would probably use the clay face wash during the day, wash with Purity at night, and do the 5 minute treatment every other day. Also, make sure to use a good moisturizer because it is literally sucking the oil from your pores.

I use a gentle cleanser (Purpose face wash) before using the bar to wash off my makeup, then I use the bar and let the clay dry for 5 minutes before rinsing. I follow up with my favorite moisturizer (Avalon Organics Vitamin C Renewal Cream) and I only use the bar at night. So far, I am having excellent results with this nightly routine - my skin has cleared up dramatically and is soft and smooth.
