Questions & Answers for Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner

Question
Application
I've always wanted to try these, but I've never bought them because when I try them on my hand in the store, the glitter is very spaced out and the color isn't great. Is this just because the testers at the store are probably pretty used and dried up, or do you have to apply several layers to get good coverage?

Hi,

Normally, with brown eyes myself, I suggest specific shades, but since this is glittery you can get away with almost anything. I've personally used Spandex and Metalhead both with great results, but you could try almost anything.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I lined my eyes with Bourbon (UD 24/7 eye pencils) first for definition and then appled Metalhead over it in a thin line. It went on very evenly. My husband said that it looked very glamorous and dramatic, and I didn't need a very thick line, because the Bourbon (brown color) was providing definition to my eyes. A lot of people complimented me on the look and it was so easy to do.

Hope this helps answer your question.

Since I've gotten these I wear them every time I go anywhere. If you read the package you'll find it says you can use a hair dryer on cool to dry each layer faster. I dab the liner on instead of putting it on in a streak like many people are complaining about. If you swipe it you'll only get the most subtle color because the gel is clear so just dab it and then put the wand back in to collect more glitter and dab again for the second half of the eye. I always use 2 layers because I love the disco ball effect and costume type makeup.

For a solid line of glitter you have to re-dip and keep applying. I dont blame for not wanting to do that. Thats why I used it over my black liner. A little colored glitter over black or a matching shade of eye liner adds a whole now dimension to your eye look.

The glitter does apply pretty thin. If you're looking for heavier coverage, try using a "stick" eyeliner under the glitter, or you can layer the glitter. Another thing to consider is the color of the glitter; I have Distortion and Metal Head, and Distortion is a lot harder to show through on its own. If you're concerned about coverage, you may want to try Too Faced's glitter liner instead.

what I do is, do my mascara and eyeshadow first, then if you want more color, use a regular eyeliner first, then put the glitter eyeliner over it. or another thing i have done is once again, do the mascara and eyeshadow first, then i'll use 2 different glitter eyeliners layered. it's a completly different look when you do all of your makeup versus just trying it plain on your hand. hope this helps good luck! :-)

the testers may be the worse for wear, but yes, I find I need to paint on multiple applications to build to the look I want. as long as you let the 'layers' dry completely before applying another, you should be good to go.

I've never had a problem applying mine at home -- I'd imagine it's just the tester. Usually, if I'm just lining my eyes, then I can use the brush on both eyes without having to refill it.

answer 12
It really depends on HOW severe you want the coverage to be.
You can build the coverage by applying more layers. But it sounds like you want more glitter.
If you want your eyelids to look like a sea of jewels every time you blink, try Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eye Gel. The coverage is more intense.
The nice thing about the Glitter Liner is the application is quick, simple, and clean since the applicator is in the tube. The Glitter Eye Gel will require more time and gets a little dirtier because you'll have to use a brush or your own, and clean the glitter off that brush...or use your fingers.

Totally gold, in my opinion. Your liner will look fully gold and glittery with three thin coats or one thick coat. Maybe there are micro-particles of silver if you look for it, staring at yourself about two inches from the mirror, but it's gold from any normal distance. :)

its not so much the color of the glitter that matters but what color eye makeup overall you use. the glitter just adds flair in my opinion so any color should do. the best colors for green eyes are pinks, champagnes, golds, purples, and black (black works with anything) so buy whatever colors suit your fancy and just add them to your favorite looks!

Yes. When I go the gym, after I work out and shower it basically stays on. I am not scrubbing my eyes since I wear contacts, but when I pat my eyes dry it's still on. So it gets wet and it doesn't peel off or anything, it's got pretty good staying power (I've been buying this brand for years and own it in many colors).

If they're in the medium brown range, warm pinks, salmon, coral, mauve, and baby blue would b flattering. If ur eyes r more 2wards a honey shade, matte light aqua, gold, burgundy, shimmery light beige, olive, jade, & shimmery sage would b gorgeous.

I apply a shadow primer, shadow, then a regular eyeliner, then use the glitter liner over the regular liner. Depending on the base color, the glitters look different (ie, distortion looks green over black eyeliner - it's beautiful!). I tend to only use the glitter on my top lash line as I think it looks weird on me on the bottom last line, however that's just personal preference. Just play with them and have fun!

I just line my eyes with a pencil liner of choice, then top with the liquid glitter! I haven't tried it with liquid eyeliner first, but I don't see why that wouldn't work. I have seen a lot of other users, using an eyeliner first as well. If you wanted a more subtle look with a little sparkle, then just use it by itself and mascara

Hi,

It's so easy and looks as if you put a long time into it. I draw a line with my UD 24/7 pencil liner and then a thin line of glitter over it. It's like any other liquid liner, except maybe EASIER than a lot of liquids since this is thicker and doesn't run all over the place. It looks great.

You definently can apply all over the lid, as mentioned before. I would put down a color or base for the liner to stick to. I prefer if using it as a liner, to use either the same color or a complimetry color underneath. In my experience it helps intesify the color of the glitter and helps it stay put. You can use either eye liner such as the 24/7 liners or one of UD's deluxe eyeshadows wet to line the eye, and one dried put a layer or 2 of glitter liner on, let dry and your set! good luck !

Visine Total Eye Soothing Wipes. You can get them at any drugstore in the eye drop section. They take off all kinds of eyeliner, even the Heavy Metal glitter liners. the wipes are thick and soothing. You can use them on irritated eyes for instant relief. My favorite is when I'm fresh out of the shower. It's my favorite way to clear the eye "palette" so I can start again.

I don't know about the titanium dioxide, but typically UD avoids scary ingredients. For blue eyes, try purples, greens, reds, and taupe-y browns. All of those make mine stand out. Tradition seems to always point blue eyes to using browns--but be adventurous!

If you go to the Urban Decay website, it lists the ingredients in all the products. http://www.urbandecay.com/categories/HeavyMetalGlitterEyeliner.cfm is where you can find this product. There is a link for ingredients below the product description. It does not list titanium dioxide as an ingredient.

Greens look nice with blue/gray eyes, as do browns. I'd use darker ones. The nice thing about glitter is that you're not looking for it to be subtle, so you can really use any color you want. Don't let people tell you what colors look nice on you, based only on your eye color! Wear what you think looks nice!

Aqua (Water), Polyethylene Terephthalate, Propylene Glycol, Glycerine, Acrylates Copolymer, PVP, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Polyurethane-11, PVM/MA Decadiene Crosspolymer, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben
