I guess it feels like a light base. If you put too much on, your eyelid will feel stiff or heavy, but you really only need a small amount. When I just use a little bit I don't feel it on my lids.

This will be perfect for what you're describing. I was afraid it would be heavy but it wasn't at all. As soon as you put it on, it drys and you could forget it was even there. When you apply your shadow it will look exactly as it would otherwise except it will be smoother and more even and will last much longer.

This primer goes on like a cream. Note that dries it rapidly enough that it takes a bit of experience to smooth it on with the pinkie finger. On my oily lids, it temporarily feels dry, but by the time I've applied the eye shadow, my eyelids feel normal. Then the primer keeps the eyeshadow exactly as I've applied it almost all day (at least several hours).

It feels very light when you put it on. The key is to not press down too hard when you are applying. I like to dab a little in the center of my eye led and then rub it in with my finger tip or a makeup sponge to get an even application. A little goes a long way.

I had been worried about using primers as i didn't want to make the caking/creasing worse. I love this product because it dries quickly into a thin covering over the eyelid. Of course, if you put too much it could become caky, but i've not had that problem. In comparing the times when i use this and when i don't use this primer, it really helps the eyeshadow stay in place longer and appears more vibrant.

You could always try it on instore for a day and if you like it, buy the full sized product. if not, then stick to what you're already using! hope this helps

UDPP is in not way heavy. It's light and creaming and easily grabs color to make them pop. Remember that a little goes a long way, so just a few swips of the brush will do for your whole eye. Odviously the more product you add the cakier it could get, however I've never really tested if it has or not. Besides using less makes it last longer and that's always a bonus!

The product is lightweight and is not greasy at all. It has a sheer nude color to it . And, it really does work well for both pressed and loose eyeshadows.

I use three coats of it. As, I prefer to use this much to guarantee that my eyeshadows stay both crease and fade proof all day. And, then after I apply it to my eyelid area, I then use a concealer brush to spread it out evenly over my entire eyelid area.

After I spread it out, then I apply my eyeshadow immediately thereafter. And, my eye makeup stays fresh all day and "just applied" all day until I take it off.

This product goes on VERY light in texture and is invisible. Not even a cream really, more of a thin veil. Once it dries (pretty fast) you really can't tell there is anything on your eyelid....also, one tube will last forever; one dipped wand is enough for both of my eyes. This is different from most bases that I have tried which are thicker and visible.

Hope that helps!

It sort of feels like a creamy liquid foundation. I apply it directly from the sponge in a line across the crease of my eyelid and blend it all over my eyelid with my finger. Kind of like the technique you would use to apply eye cream. It doesn't cake or look heavy, but it's important to blend. It also helps to let it dry for about 15-30 seconds after you blend it in, just to be absolutely sure the shadow won't cake over it.

any product positioned as a primer is going to have ingredients that are creamy, and these may be adding to your oiliness instead of helping you control it. I also have super-oily eyelids and need to put on my makeup at 7 am and have it last at least 12 hours without having to retouch.
I've found my secret weapon to be loose and pressed translucent powders. after applying my eye cream and sunscreen, I apply a dusting of loose powder all over my face [try not to breathe in too much of any powder.] and, I recommend you ALWAYS apply a neutral eyeshadow from lash to brow under all of your other eye make up. [I have fair skin, so I use a light ivory shadow; you can just match your base shadow to your skin tone.] I like to choose a shade slightly lighter than my skin tone as it brightens the eye area. this neutral shadow will:
--provide a dry, stable base for other shadows
--allow your colors to go on truer by eliminating any redness or discoloration on the lid
--act as an oil-absorber throughout the day.
I also apply a layer of loose powder over my eye makeup AFTER I have applied it. this is tricky; I use a small powder puff loaded with the TINIEST bit of powder. it really increases the wear. [try not to get any loose powder on your mascara. believe me, it's not a nice look!]
if you don't already do so, carry a translucent pressed powder with you. later in the day, I take a folded tissue and press it into my powder and then press gently onto my lids to blot oil. [I don't use the puff in the compact so it won't get shadow on it, and I can use my puff on my face.] try to get the most translucent powder you can find; try Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder unless you have a deep skin tone. this powder is supposed to be colorless but on deeper skins can show up a bit. Sephora Brand Mattifying Powder is quite good, too, and has a large color palette to choose from. I am quite fair, so the Urban Decay powder works for me.
not everyone likes a matte finish to their skin, and the loose powder approach, while helping your make up to wear longer, may not be the technique for you. but do try using a neutral matte shadow first. perhaps you could carry blotting papers with you. these are thin sheets with a bit of powder in them so you can touch up without carrying or using a compact. Sephora, bless 'em, makes great blotting powder papers too! I hope this helped!

Definitely give this a try, or try Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I think with Sephora's generous return policy you really have nothing to lose. It definitely stopped all creasing for me, and I have very oily skin. Pat it on, blend it in, and let it dry with your lid closed for a few seconds before you start applying your eyeshadow. You can use shadow wet or dry over it, and it works like a dream for me. If it doesn't work return it, no harm, no foul.

First, try putting powder foundation on your eyelids to start off with, then use an eyeshadow primer like this one form Urban Decay. This primer is light, fluffy and airy. It is also layer-able so you can apply, let dry and apply more if needed. The more you put on, the better crease protection you get.

This works great to prevent shadow creasing. The consistency is a bit different from the Smashbox primer, and it would probably work better since it's made for the eyes. You just need to apply a small amount (you'll know if you put on too much) and let it dry for a minute before applying the shadow.
I used to have a terrible problem with creasing, since I started using this I don't need to carry my shadow with me for touch ups, it stays on all day.

UDPP in my own opinion works great with creasing. Another thing you have to take in consideration is the way you apply your eyeshadoww. If you just use patting motions instead of blending it like crazy it will make a difference. Your eye area is delicate and if you overwork it, the skin can sag and ease the eyeshadow in the crease.

I have oily eyelids too. I use this product alot and I have used it under pressed or loose eyeshadows with no problems at all. The key to keeping eyeshadow on all day is not using an eye cream around the eye. As, a gel type product used around the eye is much better and is more compatible with this product. I also don't use my fingers with this product at all. I use the wand and apply three coats to my eyelid area. Next, I take my concealer brush and smooth it out all over my eyelid. And, then I apply my eyeshadow directly over it.

This product is not greasy and it doesn't make my eyes tear up at all. It has a fairly thin consistency to it. And, it has a sheer nude color to it too.

You use it on your eyelid so it really doesn't help with running mascara. Try using a waterproof or smudgeproof mascara. I've found that works the best.

No, this product is suppose to help your eyeshadow adhere to your lid all day, until you take it off. It is not designed to stop mascara flakes from depositing on your lids or below your eyes. Because this is a primer, I would not use it under my eye. I would use a concealer for undereye....I like Make up forever and philosophy...very creamy and blendable!
Happy priming!

Since using this product, I've never had a problem with mascara "bleeding". Make sure your eye lid is free from any oily residue and you should not have any problems.

My eyes are somewhat prominent, not deep set so that when I blink, my lashes don't touch the skin under my brow. I think the run off mascara might be more about the mascara choice.

This product helps mostly eye shadow. If you are afraid of run-off eye liners or mascara dust your lashes with some powder, it will make it stick. For under your eye use a similar eye shadow color and dust it over your mascara or eye liner. It helps absorb the moisture or oils and prevents from run-offs. It's a similar concept to people powdering their nose, it prevents shine.

I have noticed no alteration in color of shadow in case and on lids when I have used it. Also have a few friends of darker color that use it with the same results as I have. I don't think it would alter any color, pretty much goes on a little opaque and doesn't add that much color to your base coat. Try it out and I trust you will quickly add it as a staple to your daily routine. I have. It is the best for making sure shadow will stay and not fade or crease over the long hours of the night or day.

I have noticed that the second primer they came out with has a bit more of a greasy/oily feel if you use your fingers to apply. Still comes off easily with any face wash or soap and water. And the "Sin" product doesn't really alter shadow color either. Works better for darker shades (navy, dark brown, deep purple) and doesn't add too much shine or shimmer either. Both are great and would highly recommend them to anyone, dark skin or not. I use one or the other each day. Wouldn't think of not using them!!

I think it might work depending on what color eye shadow you were wearing with it. The product does have a hint of color and is probably formulated for caucasian skin. However, it seems to blend well into the eye shadow so that you never see the actual color of the primer. Hope this helps.

I have fair skin, but it evened out the color on my eyelids. I would guess that it would show up as a light beige on dark skin. It's a somewhat chalky texture which makes me also think this.

it might show up a little bit, but if you are covering it with shadow then it shouldnt be a problem.
if you are not plannign on usign for a base, but a concealer instead then i would suggest topping it off with some of your face powder.
this product is fabulous!!!!

The primer has a creamy colour that blends in as soon as you put it on so it's invisible. I imagine it would do the same on darker skin. You might want to try the new Sin colou which has a bit of a gold sheen to it. It does the same great job (acts as a base for ANY eyeshadow colour) and it would likely look lovely on its own on darker skin.

The color is a little cream-ish straight out of the bottle, but once it's on your lid and you blend/spread it all around, the color disappears completely! Hope this helps you out!
