Question
Does this help with bad creasing?
I have tried multiple things but, I cannot get my eyeshadow to stop creasing. My face is dry by nature except for my eyelids! I have been using the photofinish by smashbox and I like it but, it really more of a foundation primer than an eyeshadow primer. Can someone help, please?

for me, i have oily skin around my eyes, giving me creases when i put eyeshadow on. although it varies from person to person, this product really helps keep the creases away as well as keep my eyelids matte for the most part. doesn't last all night, but it does its job. hope this helped.

My eyeshadow used to crease really bad until I heard about the primer potion. It's weird but it does work somehow, I don't know where the oil goes! :D

I had bad creasing too, and not only with cream eyeshadow, but with regular powder shadow too. This product did wonders for me. I can't live without it. I originally got it as a sample when I made a purchase on Sephora. I used it and immediately bought the full size!

Yes it worked great as a primer, no creases on me when I used it, I couldn't continue to use it though as it made my eyes water, but yes it took care of the crease effectively

I had the exact same problem with my eye shadow bunching in the creases and this product has really helped. I still have a little creasing if I'm in a hurry and don't take the time to apply everything really well, but for the most part it keeps my shadow in place and last all day.

any product positioned as a primer is going to have ingredients that are creamy, and these may be adding to your oiliness instead of helping you control it. I also have super-oily eyelids and need to put on my makeup at 7 am and have it last at least 12 hours without having to retouch.
I've found my secret weapon to be loose and pressed translucent powders. after applying my eye cream and sunscreen, I apply a dusting of loose powder all over my face [try not to breathe in too much of any powder.] and, I recommend you ALWAYS apply a neutral eyeshadow from lash to brow under all of your other eye make up. [I have fair skin, so I use a light ivory shadow; you can just match your base shadow to your skin tone.] I like to choose a shade slightly lighter than my skin tone as it brightens the eye area. this neutral shadow will:
--provide a dry, stable base for other shadows
--allow your colors to go on truer by eliminating any redness or discoloration on the lid
--act as an oil-absorber throughout the day.
I also apply a layer of loose powder over my eye makeup AFTER I have applied it. this is tricky; I use a small powder puff loaded with the TINIEST bit of powder. it really increases the wear. [try not to get any loose powder on your mascara. believe me, it's not a nice look!]
if you don't already do so, carry a translucent pressed powder with you. later in the day, I take a folded tissue and press it into my powder and then press gently onto my lids to blot oil. [I don't use the puff in the compact so it won't get shadow on it, and I can use my puff on my face.] try to get the most translucent powder you can find; try Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder unless you have a deep skin tone. this powder is supposed to be colorless but on deeper skins can show up a bit. Sephora Brand Mattifying Powder is quite good, too, and has a large color palette to choose from. I am quite fair, so the Urban Decay powder works for me.
not everyone likes a matte finish to their skin, and the loose powder approach, while helping your make up to wear longer, may not be the technique for you. but do try using a neutral matte shadow first. perhaps you could carry blotting papers with you. these are thin sheets with a bit of powder in them so you can touch up without carrying or using a compact. Sephora, bless 'em, makes great blotting powder papers too! I hope this helped!

I have tried the smashbox primer and I do not recommend putting it on your lids. I would think it would make it really oily . The primer potion works best if you put it on your lids by itself.( no foundation or concealer.)

Definitely give this a try, or try Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I think with Sephora's generous return policy you really have nothing to lose. It definitely stopped all creasing for me, and I have very oily skin. Pat it on, blend it in, and let it dry with your lid closed for a few seconds before you start applying your eyeshadow. You can use shadow wet or dry over it, and it works like a dream for me. If it doesn't work return it, no harm, no foul.

First, try putting powder foundation on your eyelids to start off with, then use an eyeshadow primer like this one form Urban Decay. This primer is light, fluffy and airy. It is also layer-able so you can apply, let dry and apply more if needed. The more you put on, the better crease protection you get.

You will like this product because it is lightweight and does not crease. I have oily skin. My eyeshadow has a tendency to get absorbed by the oil in my skin and crease by the end of the night. When I found this product, it cured all of those problems for me. I just use a bit and pat it on my lid, then apply my shadow.

Have you tried the Urban Decay Primer Potion? It may be worth a try. Sephora is good about customer satisfaction. If the product isn't right for you they will take it back and help you till you get what you need. At least that is how they are at the Pearlridge Mall location here on Oahu, Hawaii.

I definitely recommend it to prevent creasing. It's very light, and well worth the price. You shouldn't have any problems with your eye makeup using this, and it's easier on your lids than foundation primer which might dry out your lids.

I have oily eyelids, too, and this primer keeps my shadow from creasing all day. The shadow stays there almost exactly as I'd applied it in the morning. I've used Smashbox Photofinish for my face, but since it doesn't work for me there, I can't imagine that it'd work for my eyes. I can recommend, from experience, this product to keep eyeshadow from creasing on oily eyelids.

This works great to prevent shadow creasing. The consistency is a bit different from the Smashbox primer, and it would probably work better since it's made for the eyes. You just need to apply a small amount (you'll know if you put on too much) and let it dry for a minute before applying the shadow.
I used to have a terrible problem with creasing, since I started using this I don't need to carry my shadow with me for touch ups, it stays on all day.

UDPP in my own opinion works great with creasing. Another thing you have to take in consideration is the way you apply your eyeshadoww. If you just use patting motions instead of blending it like crazy it will make a difference. Your eye area is delicate and if you overwork it, the skin can sag and ease the eyeshadow in the crease.

I have oily eyelids too. I use this product alot and I have used it under pressed or loose eyeshadows with no problems at all. The key to keeping eyeshadow on all day is not using an eye cream around the eye. As, a gel type product used around the eye is much better and is more compatible with this product. I also don't use my fingers with this product at all. I use the wand and apply three coats to my eyelid area. Next, I take my concealer brush and smooth it out all over my eyelid. And, then I apply my eyeshadow directly over it.
This product is not greasy and it doesn't make my eyes tear up at all. It has a fairly thin consistency to it. And, it has a sheer nude color to it too.

YES! Yes, yes, yes, this will help with creasing! I've tried a bunch of other stuff as well, and this is the only thing that works for me. My skin, except eyelids, is also oily in places, and this primer is the only one that didn't melt off or cause my eyeshadow to melt as well. I use it as a primer for my eyeliner also, top & bottom, and refuse to wear eye-makeup without it! I recommend this product as a must-have!
