According to my Murad rep (I work for a spa that uses Murad) you apply this while your face is still damp from your toner. Don't let your face completely dry before you apply.

This is meant to be used after a toner, or even AS a toner. After applying this, you'll want to moisturize. This product alone makes my face feel a bit dry, and I always need to moisturize afterward. I like the DDF Retinol Moisturizer after using this.

Application question - dampened face??

So if it comes after cleansing and a toner, why do you need to dampen your face again? How does it work if you're putting it on a moist face? Are you supposed to then rinse it off? Maybe the answer is obvious, but I'm confused. Thanks!

I actually work for a spa franchise that only uses Murad products and I had a question about this too. The proper way to apply it is before your toner completely dries. Cleanse your face, apply your toner and then apply the Essential-C Daily Renewal Complex. If your face dries before application, apply more toner. I wouldn't add water to your face because one of the benefits of toner is to neutralize your skin's PH balance and water will "cancel out" your toner in a way. :) I hope this helps!!

I was a bit confused about this too at first when I saw it on the directions. What you're supposed to do is to first use your cleanser and toner. And after you use your toner, you just splash water on your face to make it moist and then you apply the renewal complex. After you do that, you don't rinse it off. You just put on your moisturizer. I tried putting on the renewal complex without dampening my face and it didn't absorb into my skin. It just clumped up into white dots and it was too dry to try to rub it into my skin. But if I wet my face first, it absorbs into my skin well.

Photodamage means being damaged by the sun and environmental factors. I have photodamaged skin because I like to tan in the summer , which caused me to get sun spots. You can get photodamaged skin also if you smoke, from pollution, etc. It's basically any damage to your skin by outside factors.

I'd say it's safe to use this daily- only a tiny amount (enough to fit on the tip of your first finger for instance) and use with moisturizer. not drying.

No, you don't wash your face. The is the number 2 in Murad's 3 step regimen. It's a treatment product so you still need a moisturizer. Step 1 is Cleanse, Tone; Step 2 Treatment and Step 3 Hydrate and Protect. Make sure you apply this while your face is still damp from your toner. Good luck!

YES! You can certainly use Dr. Murad's acne and Essential C products together! He says so in his book! I love his SPF eye cream as for some reason SO many brands forget to put SPF in these products!

You can absolutely use Murad's acne cleanser and use the Essential C Daily Renewal Complex as your treatment serum.

I do have acne prone skin. I use Retin A and have no problem using this. It is not moisturizing in my opinion. It more or less just smooths my skin and disappears. I put it on after I was my face.

I wear it under makeup all the time. seems to extend the wear of my make up without altering its look. The key is to let it absorb about 10-15mins prior to applying make up. oh and if possible, use a primer.
I would wear this for its function as a protectant against environmental stressors daily under makeup.
