Questions & Answers for Murad Acne Complex Kit

Question
Is this better than proactive or the same? not as well?
I'm just curious which system for acne would be the best. I hear about proactive on tv of course, but I would assume that something from sephora would be better. I'm just curious is it worth the extra money or should I just try proactive first?

It really depends on your skin. I have used Proactiv and so has my sister. Both of us found that Proactiv stopped working after a while. My sister is using Philosophy and I am using this system. Both of us are having more success with acne control with these Sephora products. I suggest going into Sephora and asking one of the employees which system would work better for you (that's the reason why my sister is using Philosophy while I am using Murad)

Everyone's skin responds differently, I have pretty sensitive skin , proactive did nothing for me and I tried it for 3 months. Murad acne complex I have been using for about 1 month and I've seen super results. I ought the $60 kit, but you can probably try the $30 kit and see if it works for you.

They're both really good products. I tried ProActive when I first started getting pimples and it worked. ((unfortunately for me, pimples came back; but that was because my mom kept having switch ance products all the time)) Right now, I'm using Murad and its been about one month and half, and my face is visibly less red and i haven't had any recent breakouts...
All in all, both are good products; you just gotta have patience and stick to one.

It depends on your skin, For me It worked way better than pro-active..but some people complained that it dryed out there skin, i have combination skin and mosturized frequently with this product so I wouldn't have that problem.

I used this first for a year, thinking the same as you. I didn't like it.
I switched immediately to Proactiv and have had much better skin ever since.
However, different people find success with different products, so it can't hurt to try one knowing that if it doesn't work for you, you can easily switch.

I now purchases the full sizes and use them everyday, religiously. Think of this kit as a try it kit to see if it works for you. Also, this kit lasted me probably 6 months, and the smaller sizes are good for toting along where ever you go.

Absolutely! You can use it the rest of your life! :)
I was recommended this product who has been using it for years. I used this kit and ran out. I tried another "expensive" product but then returned back to this kit because it works better. I will stick with this for awhile. :)

Of course you can keep using them! I've been using them for about 3 months now, and my skin continues to improve in complexion and reduced blemishes and breakouts. You will probably need to restock on some of the products after a month and a half though.

Personally, I think it's made for oily skin people or for the ones who have acne problems. I have combination skin and after one week of this treatment, I'm starting to have dry spots around the mouth area. So, I think it's perfect for oily skin people but a bit too harsh for dry or combination skin.

I have oily/combination skin and it works great. The lotion might help with your oil; it helped with mine but only for about 3 weeks until my skin produced more oil to compensate. I just stick with rice papers now, and maybe a mineral veil from Bare Minerals.

This kit will be perfect for your oily skin! The only recommendation I have would be to check and see if Murad has a skin primer to apply after product application/before you apply make up(if you wear foundation). This is an awesome kit, but you may need something to keep the shine down during warmer months. This kit in particular is formulated to derease oil production. If Murad doesn't have one, there are a number of "oil free skin primers" available right here on Sephora. Good luck!

I got a good, probably, 6 months out of this kit using it morning and night. But now I just purchase the full sizes which give me more for my money. I would definetly recommend purchasing this kit if you have never tried the Murad line, so you can make sure it is the right product for you and your skin. Also Sephora has a great return policy if you are ever unhappy with your purchases.

*a little tip: to make all your sephora products last longer splash warm water on your face and let sit till your damp but not dry, then apply whatever product in a small dose, the water thins out the product and allows it to cover a larger area.

I am sorry that you are breaking out! What I do find is that some products work at bringing the dirt up to the skin to clean out the pores. When I changed to this product my breakouts reduced and my whiteheads reduced and the spot treatment worked at preventing and drying them up. If you have tried the product for more than 2-3 weeks and you don't get any good results, it probably doesn't work for your face and you would need to try another product.
If you would like your money back, I would try to call the Customer Service LIne and ask them the process. If they won't give it back, try to make a deal with them. Good luck!!

Some people break out more when a product starts working because it draws the zits to the surface. This happens to me with this stuff, but it's nice since the zits will heal faster than way. Keep with it for 4 weeks and see if your breakouts get better. If your skin gets painful, irritated, red, etc, I'd only use the cleanser and lotion twice a day, and leave the gel and spot treatment for nights only. If it is still bad, stop using it, as your skin obviously hates it. Listen to your skin! Good luck, hope this helps.

Question
Acne Spot Treatment Before or After Perfecting Lotion?
I know the spot treatment has a #2, and the lotion has a #3, but it seems counterintuitive to put on a spot-specific treatment on before rubbing something else over the whole face. It seems like that would smear the spot treatment all over, especially a concern since the spot treatment specifies not to use it on the entire face (just the spots). Thanks for your help!

I recommend that you put on the perfecting lotion all over first THEN put on the acne spot treatment. The acne spot treatment is just what you said only for the spots that you feel like are breaking out or the ones that are red. You use it one or three times a day and you can carry it around your purse when you feel like one is about to come. Hope this helps!

I put it on before the lotion. Just let it absorb for a minute or so before putting the lotion on. It doesn't irritate my skin though, so I tend to put it on liberally. If you still don't like that, I'd stop using the acne spot treatment. Just put the lotion on and put Rare Minerals Blemish Therapy on top of the lotion. It has the same ingredient and concentration of Murad's acne spot cream, but in my opinion it is the BEST and works better than anything for acne spot treatment. You won't be worried about spreading it around either since it goes on top of the lotion. Hope that helped. Good luck!

The reason that it states that is because that is the catergory in which they saw the best results. Always put it on as you feel comfortable, if it seems pointless to do it that way then don't. The important thing is that you are putting it on at all.

I would say that one week isn't enough. It takes time to see the results. The box says in 4 weeks, but we all know that everyone is different and they will see their skin improve at a different time. If you experience more break outs than ever, I suggest that you should discontinue using it. I've used this for 2 months also and my i broke out even more using this so I stopped.

I started using Murad back in April this year. When I first started using it I broke out horribly!!! I mean it was terrible! I stuck with it though because supposedly its purging your skin of all the bacteria. I've been using it for a while and my acne is GONE. Keep in mind though I've been using it since April and I've barely gotten there. Took 6 months and I broke out the whole time. It may be fast for some people. Might take longer for others. I'd stick with it for a while just to make sure. I know it might seem horrible but more than likely, if you switch to something else it may make you purge also. Just wanted to say that it may be a while. Good luck : ) . I use the exfoliating acne treatment during the day and purchased the acne and wrinkle reducer for the night time. I also incorporated the murad clarifying toner.

I've been using it for about the same time as well, and it hasn't really cleared my acne either. I'm going to be switching skincare soon because after 33 days, the skin on your face gets a new layer, if that makes sense. So if it hasn't worked yet, I'm pretty sure it will continue not to work.
