Not like professional extractions, but it does draw out clogged pores. I've found that if I use it 2-3 times a week I see less blackheads in my T-zone.

I don't think so. I use this to reduce shine, prevent white heads (I am prone to the this, especially in the summer months). The Caudalie mask will take care of blackheads. The combo of the two masks will clear up the zits. Good luck.

I would have to say that no, this product does not help get rid of blackheads if they are already existing on your skin. At least, it doesn't seemed to help with that purpose for my skin type.

I don't think it will brighten the skin. I don't think it will irritate your skin. I have had severe acne and in the past have hit it with glycolic/syl acids, benzo's, you name it I did it. My skin was hypersensitive, I was breaking out because the stuff was only temporary. I decided to change up and go natural. I did a gentle cleanser (Caudalie), and the Boscia Vital moisturizer. I also do the Detox mask once a week in the winter and twice in the summer. Instead of doing a glycolic toner, cleanser that was chemically made, I did the Caudalie mask to clear the skin once a week in the winter and twice a week in the summer. My hypersensitve/prone to break out skin has calmed down. Good luck.

Hi there! This mask does not hydrate skin. It clarifies skin, and for my money it does a good job of it without drying skin out. My skin is combination too, and fairly ornery, though I'm not as sensitive to fragrance as someone with truly sensitive skin. I love this mask, and have experienced no problems with it. If you're concerned about a reaction, see if you can finagle a sample or swap before committing to a purchase.

I have sensitive, combo skin, too. I didn't find it to be drying, and was very refreshing and made my skin feel very clean. The price is a little steep for the size of the tube, but you only need a little to spread on your face.

I have combo skin and breakout a lot in the summer. I actually started using boscia b/c of a recommendation from a girl who had trouble with acne and sensitive skin. She said it was the only thing she would use anymore. I use the mask once a week and I don't have any issues w/ breaking out more-it has actually helped out a lot.

This mask is very mild. It doesn't over-dry as long as you use it as directed (5 minutes). I guess it brightens in the sense of removing little particles from your skin, but there's no claim saying (not that I feel) it can do the brightening job.

My skin is oily, but I also have rosacea and my skin is easily irritated. I have some acne on my face but most acne medications dry my skin too much. In other words, my skin is complicated. I love this mask! It dries up the oil without overdrying. It doesn't make my skin feel tight or itchy. I've been using the mask 2x per week for the past several weeks. I also use it on my neck and chest. I love it and will buy it again.

The Boscia line in general is very subtle, which i think is ideal for someone with sensitive skin. I personally live in a city with high polution so i was amazed at how quickly i saw results. My skin was smoother and my pores were smaller. However, I did purchase the night, day and eye cream. The good news is the line is very affordable compared to other skin care lines offered at Sephora.

Question
Spot Treatment?
I don't understand exactly how people do this but some people are claiming that this is a good spot treatment. In their defense some masks have been able to accomplish this but it was noted on the product. If this can be used by a spot treatment, could any express in details on how exactly it can be used successfully?

To use a mask as a spot treatment, dab on a dot over your blemish. Not too thin, and not so thick that it dries up and falls off. To make it really work, dab a tiny amount of geranium oil on top of that. Do this at night after cleaning your face, before going to bed. Be sure to read how to use essential oils first though, caution because they're potent.

Apply a dot to only the effected area and leave overnight. Wash off in the morning. It doesn't completely "cure" the pimple, but it makes it less red and "angry" looking.

Sometimes I will apply a little bit of the mask to a blemish and leave it on overnight. When I rinse it off in the morning some of the redness and inflammation is usually reduced. This may be a little drying though.

I use this as a spot treatment and it's great. Clay masks in general draw out impurities so if something is under the surface of the skin, using a clay mask as a spot treatment overnight will usually bring it to a head by the morning. It speeds up the entire process and doesn't dry out the skin around the spot.

I use it as a spot treatment all the time. I usually clean my face at night and moisturize and then put a little right on top of the blemish. It doesn't make anything disappear overnight but it has def. helped shrink and get rid of blemishes faster.

Yes, it is a good spot treatment. I actually loved it so much for my acne that I don't want to waste it on other parts of my face. Plus I have dry skin so I feel it might dehydrate too much. I use only on and around my chin where I break out. I also just put it on the blemishes when I first feel them and leave on for a while or overnight. Works great!

I haven't used this mask as a spot treatment, but when I've used other clay-type masks in the past I've just put some of the mask on top of a pimple, and it helps to draw the oil and dirt out of the pore. Rinse the mask off, and then put some acne med on it. Do this up to 3 times a day, or as often as you think your skin can tolerate it without getting too irritated.

It's worth the $25. I use it twice a week and it lasted 8 months. You don't have to put tons on. But be sure to use it more than once a week for it to really do its job. Also, give the mask a month to work. It's natural and meant not to freak out your skin so it needs its time to work. I went from hypersensitive skin that turned out to only inflame when I was using a lot of chemicals. The naturally derived stuff has turned my skin around.

This isn't exactly a big bottle, but it's not tiny either. It is the same size as most premium bottles of mask that you might find at a department store. It's smaller than bottles of mask you'll find in a drugstore. The results from this are well worth the money to me, but mileage varies with beauty products. You haven't mentioned your skin type, so I'll tell you mine and you can work from that: I am middle-aged but not yet experiencing wrinkles. My skin is combination, and I do get the dull skin that older ladies experience because our cell turnover isn't as efficient as when we were younger. This product does a great job of helping exfoliation along.

Its not a huge bottle but you only need a little bit for each mask. And you only use it twice a week. I've had mine for a few weeks now and use it religiously, and it seems like I've only put a small dent in the product.

If you apply only a thin layer, 2 times a week, it will probably last you at least 6 months - I used about the size of a quarter (it is a light and foamy product and covers quickly) - so it's like, paying like 52 cents a use ... It is a smallish tube though so if you are used to applying a lot more, it will run out faster ....

Absolutely! 2.8 ounces is actually quite a bit in the beauty world. Also, you don't need to use a ton of this product. I'd say there's at LEAST a good 8 uses in this bottle... which is a little over $3/mask. That's a pretty good deal!

I like this a lot more than the Black Mask. It's too hard for me to peel off the Black Mask, so I end up having to wash most of it off. With this mask, I can feel a significant difference in my skin after usage (smoother, cleaning pores, more radiant skin), but I really can't see much effect in the Black Mask. Maybe it could be a little more effective with long-term use since I have only used the Black Mask twice since purchase and am basically giving it up now.

Yes, I have tried both of those masks and prefer the clarifying detox one by far! The black one is strong, will rip off the little hairs on your face when you peel it, and it bothers my sensitive skin. This clarifying detox mask does what it says it will do. It detoxs and clarifies and leaves skin looking great. Even sensitive skin. I do recommend this one over the black one.

I have and regularly use both.

The illuminating black mask is a peel off, therefore it can be more difficult to work with and you have to use much more product, in addition to it being more expensive. It leaves my skin refreshed and soft. It has helped slightly with pore size and help even out my skin tone with regular use. It exfoliates even the deepest of pores. It helps keeps my skin bright and healthy. This mask is really fun, but with application and removal time, can take 15 minutes for the process.
The Clarifying Detox mask is a clay mask with a really great texture. It applies incredibly smoothly and evenly for a clay mask and has a really fresh smell. Its very soothing and you can get away with using a small amount. It is a wash off mask so it is more user friendly than the black mask; the whole process with this one takes me about 5 mintues. This helps tame my breakouts REALLY quickly and keeps my oily zones in check. The best part is that this mask, when used about twice a week, has reduced my pore size by about half. This mask doesn't dry me out, but I do feel the need to use moisturizer immediately more so than with the black mask.

I have very sensitive skin and neither of these bother me. Hope this helps.

I used the Boscia clay mask and I've also tried the black mask - the peel off one... Unfortunately, the peel off mask irritated my face and my face was red and irritable for a day or two after use.

I highly suggest to not use this mask if you have sensitive skin.
