Questions & Answers for Boscia Balancing Facial Tonic

Question
usage question
It may be silly to ask but the instructions state to spray...are you supposed to wipe off after or just spray and let dry? This is the first toner I've used so not quite sure what is the right way to apply.

This product should be wiped off after application. Your skin takes several hours to return to its natural state of balance after you wash it. A "toner" helps to speed up that process while cleaning off additional dirt/sweat/makeup you may have missed while washing your face.

Hold the toner bottle about 5-8 inches away from your face and spray 2-3 times to coat your face & upper neck. Then, working from your forehead down, wipe off the toner with a clean cotton square/ball. [I usually go through 2 during the process.]

You may or may not find makeup or other stuff on the cotton squares when you are done. Voila! You have toned your face. If your face becomes overly dry just cut back to toning once a day.

I have been using this for a few years but never read the instructions until earlier this week. I thought am I using this wrong? I usually spritze my face three times to feel refreshed followed by a cotton ball with some of the toner on the cotton. hope this helps.

Leave it on. Most timers remove the last excess dirt and soap from your face after washing. This tonic is to maintain balance and moisture in your skin.

Just mist it and leave it, then apply your favorite serum and then moisturizer. The toner preps your skin to accept moisturizer so you can use less of it with more results.

As a licensed esthetician, you want to apply this toner in a circular motion and follow with your moisturizer. Don't wait. Hydrating toners like these will allow you to use about 50% less of your lotions/creams.

You can either spray it on cleaning face and pat it in, or you can spray it on a cotton pad and wipe it on your face. The latter one has more of a exfoliating effect so if you have sensitive or dry skin you should probably use the spraying method more.

it's a spray, which is great for only using as much as you need. usually i just close my eyes and spray directly on my face, which feels very refreshing. i've also used it by spraying a little on a soft washable cloth and applying that to the skin on my face and throat.

answer 8
It's a spray, fine mist spray.
Instead of spraying directly on my face, I spray about 5 pumps on a cotton pad, and then use that to swipe away any excess traces of cleanser, dirt, makeup.
I was never into toner, until someone explained the reason is to wipe away any final traces of products left on your skin (including possibly traces of cleanser than can irritate skin if left behind).
So using this makes my skin feel really good, and leaves a perfect slate to follow other products :)

Is this product photosensitizing?
Does this product make your skin more prone to sunburns? I know citrus can have a photosensitizing effect, and I think orange oil is listed in the ingredients. I'm looking for a product with loads of antioxidants that would cause me to burn.

I have used this product for a while and have had no issues with sunburns, even before I started using an oil-free moisturizer with SPF on top of the tonic. If your face is more prone to sunburns, I would use a SPF moisturizer every day regardless of the chemicals in the skincare products you use. The only treatments I can think of that could lead to a risk of sunburn are those with Retinal in them.

Well, lavender can cause photosensitivity, though it's not an antioxidant (it's precisely the opposite). Ditto for citric acid, though I don't know if causes oxidative stress topically.

i'm guessing that the reason why people said no is because they don't know that when a word ends in -ol that means it's an alcohol. the ingredients listed by sephora include two types of alcohols: maltitol (according to google, it's a sugar/sweetening alcohol) and butylene glycol (google has conflicting info on whether this is a safe thing for skin).

Toners are generally used after you cleanse your face to remove additional makeup/dirt and to speed up the skin balancing process. Spraying this on top off a made-up face wouldn't be a good idea!

If you are looking for something cooling during the day, Evian sells water in aerosol spray bottles that you can chill in a refrigerator and then mist on your face to cool off. [I believe there are several other competitor products, too.]

The Balancing Facial Tonic is a alcohol-free tonic created to restore skin's natural pH balance. It contains Lavender Water, a natural antiseptic that helps eliminates impurities. Also, contains Rosemary Leaf which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits that actually help visibly reduce the appearance of pores but also help reduce redness and/or irritation. This would be greatly beneficial to help purify skin.

This isn't an acne treatment product, but I have acne prone skin and I do think it helps to keep your skin balanced which I notice reduces the severity and amount of acne I get and appears to help my acne serums and lotion I apply after work more effectively. But I am not a dermatologist this is just my experience and my I continue to use the product in my skin care routine. Gotta find what works for you and I don't recommend changing your routine often, give it time for your skin to get use to it.

My experience is that it seems to help reduce oil without leaving my dry or tight. It's not specifically for acne though. I don't think a toner is going to be the most effective product to help with acne. I think you might get better results focusing on the cleanser and possibly treatment products. I'm not a professional though.
