Yes, Index 1 would probably be better for your hair. I would get it done by a professional though.

I wouldn't recommend it for caucasian hair I just bought it not even a week ago thinking this was going to make my hair look amazing and silky smooth but no I had to go to the salon the very next day after spending the whole day at my job looking like an idiot. My hair was stringy, falling out, and elastic like a rubber band. to make a long story short FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPERATION before you use the product one wrong step and you'll damage your hair beyond repair.

You should use Index 1. I believe Index 2 is really made for Ethnic, in my case Afro-American hair. Index 2 works wonderfully for my hair, although my mom on the other hand is bi-racial and thus has hair that is coarse but more so like that of someone caucasian. I hope this helps.

Question
This vs traditional relaxers?
How does this differ from relaxers used on African/Hispanic hair? Will it coarse/kinky hair truly straight or just smooth the wave/curl out a bit (i.e., like a texturizer)?

I have course African American Hair it works just as well if not better than traditional relaxers. Over the first few applications my hair stylist discovered the degree of straightness depend on how long it was left in and how well she worked with comb. When my stylist is done with my hair bone straight doesn't begin to discribe it.

Its for Latina hair too! As long as your hair is considered curly/kinky; I'm sure you could use it too.

Question
Can i use this product on color treated caucasion hair ?
Im 14 years old and have thick wavy black and pink hair.I straighten it everyday with a flat iron and was wondering if using a relaxer would cause less damage than the iron ? I just want my hair to lay down and be straight like the iron does to it.advice please ?

This is an update to my previous post. The packaging does state that it should not be used on previously color treated, straightened, or permed hair, and some reviews have reported breakage, so I would be very cautious about using this product if your hair has been color treated. If you have only a few strands, then maybe, but expect more breakage.

My mother used this and she is Caucasian with extremely coarse, frizzy hair. She too used an iron to straighten daily, and while this product has smoothed and softened her hair considerably, it does not lay perfectly straight and she still uses an iron, but to a much less degree. I gave this product five stars because we are comparing it to the effects of past chemical relaxers, and this one has very similar results. If you have moderately curly hair I think it may eliminate the need for daily ironing, but it depends on the degree of curl or frizz you have. My mother's hair is still slightly wavy, but WAY less frizzy and much, much softer and more managable. This product is not as strong as others, but very effective and not as harsh or toxic.

I personally DO NOT recommend putting a relaxer on highlighted hair. Too much processing will cause your hair to become extremely brittle and susceptible to breakage. As damaging as straightening with a flat iron can be on a daily basis; it will be much more damaging to put a relaxer on your highlighted hair.

Question
Does this actually straighten your hair?
I have medium thick, dry, slightly wavy hair. It's damaged from having to blow dry and straighten it every day and I want something that will straighten my hair so I can let it air dry. Would this straighten my hair so that I wouldn't have to go through all the steps or does it just condition it? I was confused by a few comments about perms?

A perm just means permanent, this is a permanent it just relaxes or straightens the hair instead of making it curly. They are both considered perms, although many people associate perms with just curls, that is not the case.

I believe there is a difference between a relaxer and a perm. Perms enhance curly hair making it more managable but does not straighten hair. Relaxers straighten hair which is what Phyto does.

Partner with a professional stylist as you will need to wait 3-4 weeks before using hair color. My hair is relaxed and highlighted, but I have to wait for touchups for my hair color if I've just had it relaxed. The wait time depends on the condition of your hair as well. Hope this helps :)

using hair color with Phytorelaxer
I've been using this product for years and until recently I've noticed that now the usuage instructions state that you should not use it on color treated hair. It never stated this before and I also color my hair using Bigen no ammonia hair color .Can I continue to safely use this product since I have not any problems in the past? Thank you.

I think you can safely use this product, however remember this is a relaxer. So expect the same results that you would with a relaxer. Based upon the description of your child's hair type I would stick with index 1- which is a milder formula at the most. If she has never had a relaxer in her hair I would more than likely seek out other options before applying any relaxer to her hair. Perhaps you should consider using a good straightening balm with a quality flat iron such as Chi or Babyliss. This flat irons are expensive but they are worth the money.

I have used it on hair that had peroxide applied to sections previously (like a month before to ensure that there would be no hair loss) and my hair stayed on my scalp the whole time during the relaxer application process.

To me this relaxer is just as harsh as other relaxers. If you have major hair loss or scalp problems I would not use any type of relaxer.

There is a formula that is a step below the Index 2. It's for sensitive scalp and fine hair. I would say that one is okay but be sure to follow the directions exactly. If you ask a professional to put in the product they can work a littler faster to make sure you don't over process your hair. Otherwise, it might be time for you to go natural!
