Questions & Answers for bareMinerals Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush

Question
What size is the part of this brush you apply the makeup with?
I'm wondering if this is the normal-sized type of this brush that you would use for your whole face, or if it's one of the little ones thats better for smaller areas? you can't really tell from the picture...Thanks!

It's small. Concealer brushes are meant to use on small areas with concealer. For your whole face, you want a foundation brush or a powder/kabuki brush.

The bristles are about the size of a penny (roughly). I find it works great, but I do know what you're talking about when a concealer brush is too small (I have one myself, it never gets used after buying this one). If you want a larger brush with the same shape try to find a liquid foundation brush.

I believe this was designed to be a brush meant to focus on specific areas that need concealing, such as acne scars or undereye circles. It's definitely not large enough as a whole face brush (unless you have a lot of time and patience :P). Hope that helps!

it is not meant to apply to the entire face but rather to cover up certain areas (like under eye circles or red blotchy spots around the nose and cheek area)...and it works really well at maximum coverage for these smaller areas!!

this brush is for concealing so i would not use it to cover the whole face. You would use it where u have dark spots, red spots, or discoloration to cover them. Then with foundation you would go over the entire face with a kabuki brush if it is a powder foundation. For other types of foundations you will use different application tools. When you do this you should get a nice even color on ur face and if you want really smooth looking skin use a primer.
hope this helps

It's a synthetic bristle brush so should be fine for liquid application. It's bristles are very dense so I would imagine you should use the liquid sparingly.

As this brush has synthetic bristles, it could be used for liquid foundation, although it is made to apply concealer and may be a little small for applying foundation.

Question
Can this brush be used for other formulations?
I use BE foundation, but prefer to use cream concealer. I have a small concealer brush or blemishes and acne, but would like to use a larger concealer brush for larger face areas and under the eyes. So, I'm wondering if this brush is any good for non-powder/mineral concealers (eg. cream concealers)?

coverage
I 've got a concealer brush but it's not big enough for me to do the coverage fast. I think I need a bigger one to help me speed up the makeup process. I wonder how big this concealer brush is. Thank you.

It's not too big. Like the size of your fingertip (maybe a little bit smaller). I really love it though, it gets the job done and works great with the BE minerals for concealing acne scars, skin discoloration, and under-eye darkness. it lasts a lot time too, good quality. Overall, I've found it to be a great investment.

I clean mine with warm water and a really gentle soap, like Clinique's facial bar. Just rubbing it (not against the bristles!) with a soapy washcloth gets out all the leftover concealer! Let it air dry overnight and you should be good to go :)

High quality shampoo. You can wash your make-up and hair brushes with the same shampoo you wash your own hair with.

I got the kit with the cleaning solution which works great. Otherwise I just use my dove soap or if it's really caked on, some liquid hand soap and warm water. It dries fine standing up and gets all the powder out. You might have to use your nails to get the little beads of powder off and then rinse again.

I don't clean it after each use - I clean all my BE brushes about once a week with their special brush shampoo. All I do is fill up a big plastic cup with warm water and mix some of the shampoo in with it. Then I dump all the brushes in and leave them for about 10 minutes or so. Then I run each brush head under warm water before I lay them to dry. Takes about 20 minutes TOTAL, give or take. Totally worth it as I have never had to replace a brush in five years of using their products.

After using the brush for about a week, I wanted to clean it. So I went to Sephora to get a brush shampoo for it. The girl there said she washes her concealer brush with water and alcohol becuase it keeps the bristles tight. But for the other brushes you'd want to use a shampoo or a mild facial cleanser. She suggested Philosiphy Purity. I put a couple drops in my hand and it works wonders. My brushes are softer than when I first got them! The alcohol for the concealer brush made the brush look like the day I got it.

i use disinfecting dish soap (since baby shampoo doesn't do that) and extra virgin olive oil. This is the cheapest and best way to clean any brush. just mix them together on a plate and rinse with lukewarm water.
