Not really. It's fairly neutral. The woman I spoke with said it's made from grape oil or extract or something, and so there is a VERY faint scent, but again it's fairly neutral. It's nice you want a basic lip replenisher because as you put it on it's not all fake berry smelly (like some lip glosses - I really don't like that).

the lip conditioner is scented, though many people will offhandedly state that this lip conditioner has no scent- but it is probably because the scent that is there is extremely understated. I actually enjoy the scent, when I do notice it. there is a very very light vanilla- ish scent (*not too sweet*). I do not know many people it would bother (* I am extremely sensitive to scented lipglosses and face products, and this does not bother me.*). if you are worried about someone walking by and saying "what smells like vanilla/ strawberries/whateverotherweirdfoodsmelltheymakelipglossflavorsin." then don't worry. its not that obvious.

The LIP CONDITIONER does not have a noticable scent. If anything it has a very soft and natural scent.

I thought the smell was very subtle, and similar to vanilla soymilk.
It's such a refreshing alternative to other balms that are loaded with artificial fruity smells.

I use Smashbox lip treatment under my lipstick. It's smooth, not waxy, and has minimum shine so you still get full color from your lipstick/gloss. This I returned because it's so hard and waxy that it's hard to put it on, and then you honestly can't rub your lips together.

I've been using it under my lipstick and my lip gloss, and it works great. I think it made everything last longer then before. It helps to keep the moisture in my lips while letting my lip colors work the magic.

This works great for me as a lipstick base. Highly recommend it.

I use it underneath my lipstick. (Tarina Tarantino).
It works well,but you have to reapply. I don't have a lip pencil,so can't answer that. It's worth a try tho. Fab product,and Sephora will take it back it you don't like it.

I wear this under lipstick regularly. Its not waxy, or sticky at all. however, If you're looking to put on a lip liner, I would definitely put that on before the lip conditioner. it will make the color last longer.

Don't know about a pencil, but otherwise, it is great under lipstick. It's smooth and stays on great.

Here is my routine with this apply the lip balm.Then take a warm wet wash cloth,rub lips well.Dry lips and add lip balm again.This make a clean smooth base for your lip stick.I cannot live with out this.Been using it for over 10 yrs!!

I have used Fresh's Lip Sugar Treatment before, which I enjoyed, but the lemony scent and tast used to give me big headaches. I also noticed with the Fresh Lip Sugar Treatment, that I was reapplying MUCH more often than I am with the Caudalie Lip Conditioner. What I like about the Fresh product, is that it comes in different tints. Both are great products, but if you're just looking for a plain lip treatment, I would say give the Caudalie a try and see if you like it as much as the other reviewers and myself!

I would go with the Caudalie one. It has great ingredients and the price is very reasonable. I don't think Fresh's is worth the extra $$.

I have both. I would pick the Caudalie,if you want to save money. The Fresh Sugar has a more liquid feel,and contains sunscreen.

I was ready to buy a 2 pack of the Caudalie in Sephora the other night, and decided to try the Fresh Sugar Plum instead. What a mistake! Caudalie is the best of the two, IMO. The color in Fresh is nice, but the softening in Caudalie is far superior.

I tried Sugar, but I like Caudalie much better. The sunscreen in a lot of products irrates my lips and that happened with Sugar. I use Caudalie at night and in the morning, and it works wonders. I am also outside quite a bit, and use it as a protectant- it is wonderful in cold weather.

I like them both; but, would choose Caudaile Lip Conditioner first and Sugar second. Both are good for my lips. sugar is a bit thicker on my lips.

I like this one better. Sugar I think you are paying for the case it comes in rather than the product so much. This one stays on much better than Sugar, lasts longer. Smooth. Feels great.

My 2 cents, I hated Fresh's product but love this.

i like caudalie better, because my lips are super sensitive and reacted badly to fresh.

You're going to have to reapply this product more than you would Chapstick or any drugstore brand. I am not a "lip balm junkie" and found myself reapplying every 5 minutes before I realized what's the point and reached for my cheapie lip balm I had never paid more than a few bucks for lip balm and thought it would be nice to try a higher end product. The search continues....

You have to try this. It is non-greasy and for me lasts all day without reapplication. Every other balm I tried before never lasted this long by a long-shot. I'm also a little lazy and forgetful, so if I have to reapply frequently... I simply don't and then my lips chap. This stuff is the key to lip happiness and keeps them soft without cracking. It's not expensive - try it!

I apply this once after lunch over my drying long-wear liquid lipstick and find that my lips are soft even in the evening (I'm constantly drinking from a water bottle so some lip balm gets lost that way but I don't lick my lips).

this is better then burts bees for sure!! Also a good one is smashbox exfoliating treatment...people say to wipe it off, but i just leave it on

I put this lip conditioner on at 9 this morning, my lips her chapped and peeling then. it is 9:30 in the evening right now, and my lips are soft and supple. this stuff is worth every penny.

Yes, it definitely keeps your lips softer for a very long time after it rubs off. Also, takes a very long time to rub off. I even did an hour of aerobic exercise and it stayed on.

It seems to stay on longer than most, to me, and, yes, soft lips. I probably apply 3-4 times a day, including bedtime. The $ is good, it is very smooth, non waxy. It's my favorite.

I too was using Burt's bees, I also am a lip balm junkie and this is the best one that I've tried! I've tried expensive ones and cheap ones but this really does top the rest!

I was in the exact same situation your in now. I was constantly putting chap stick on all the time, anywhere from ten to twenty times a day! But this stuff is amazing, I maybe put it on three to four times, depending on the weather, what I'm doing, etc. I deffinately reccomend this product.

it says it is formulated without parbens. I dunno, I have bought other products from this line & it says the same, I know my other products don't have parabens. I don't have the packaging of this anymore...my puppy ate it and the lip gloss

The packaging of my balm doesn't list parabens. Even if it had them, there isn't much product, so it would have to be a very small amount, which would be totally safe. But, as I said, I do not see any parabens listed at all.

i agree it was confusing reading the ingredients list and seeing "Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben" when Caudalie claims natural ingredients.
I looked online and found a Caudalie brochure that noted with an asterisk that the lip conditioner is 99.5% natural.

However, the actual list of ingredients on the packaging (I have it infront of me now) includes:
