Questions & Answers for Caudalie Beauty Elixir

Question
Can this be sprayed over makeup?
It doesn't need to set or anything, I was just wondering if this would disturb my foundation, or anything. By the way my foundation is the Chanel Vitalumiere, if that helps.

Hi,

My doctor once told me that toners and similar products are absorbed through the skin, and that to only spray them over things that I wouldn't mind being absorbed also. If the makeup is all natural and you're sure there's nothing in that would hurt your body if it was absorbed, go ahead. I'd be really careful of products which have ingredients that are questionable, because they might also be absorbed along with anything else.

This is awesome. I love it.

Hope this helps.

I use Bare Minerals powder/mineral make up. When spraying on over ANY foundation or powder,blush,etc-it keeps everything in place. If I over-spray I blot my face lightly with a tissue.

Not quite familiar with your foundation, but, if it tends to be an oily foundation, I would not recommend this product! Also oily skin, especially during summer months. A bonus, though you had said it was not necessary, it does and will set AND keep your makeup in place all day :-) I hope this helped! I also hope this product works for you because it is amazing!!

Question
I have nice skin already, what would I benefit from this product?
I'm 25 and I have pretty decent skin, the occasional blemish on my chin, and I can see my pores up close in a mirror on my nose but other than that I think my skin is pretty nice. I have combination skin, that is on the dryer side. I use Caudalie Gentle Cleanser, Moisturizing Cream, and the Eye and Lip cream. I love all 3 of these products and my skin is smooth and clear when I use them. How exactly would this product make my skin even better? I'm trying to improve my skin as much as possible so I don't have to use as much face make up as I'm using now. Thanks.

I am 27 with very similar skin to what you described. This product is a toner, it is just not applied with a cotton ball like the traditional toner. Toners are important because they do help to balance the ph of your skin like someone else mentioned, but they also help clear any last residue, from makeup, dirt, or even your cleanser after washing. The help nuetralize your skin so that your moisturizing products absorb more evenly, and deeply. This product does have alcohol in it, which can cause a tingling and burning sensation, but it also has many oils with give a cooling feel, such as the peppermint. I love it and swear by it. Even with the alcohol it does not dry my skin. I also use it to set my makeup. It creates a more natural look and feel to my application. However, if you do find that it is drying your skin, and/or uncomfortable on your sensitive skin. I would switch to a rose-water based toner, with no alcohol. I hope this helps!

You can use this under or over your make-up. I have found that it keeps my skin moisturized (not greasy) but just keeps it from getting tight in those dryer regions. I am confident that you would like this product! I use it throughout the day to freshen my makeup. And for non-makeup days, it feels sensational and gives a dewey, refreshed look.

The toner simply provides another layer of protection and nourishment. It firms up your skin like any other toner and closes your pores. Essence of rose and essence of myrrh are really really good for your skin and ancient ways of preserving beauty naturally, without the chemicals. I think the peppermint in the toner is to make it smell nice and refresh your skin, to wake you up. I'm not sure if it does energize your skin or not. The toner smells really nice and it really does wake you up in the morning. I'd try a sample for a week and see how it goes. :)

I'm not a dermatologist by any means, but i feel like i've used an arsenal of different products on my skin. I have sensitive/ combination skin that seems to be prone to irritation, so I'm usually very careful about what type of product i use as well as the quality and credibility of it. I would have to say in my own opinion, that the quality and integrity of Caudalie products are top notch. I rarely feel I can go out without makeup, but when i wear this (alone, or on top of light makeup) i feel the rich mist working it's way into my skin, without if ever feeling heavy or greasy. Something like this that encourages your skin to breathe and increase microcirculation is always good, because your skin is an organ and it likes to be able to breathe.

Sounds like you're on the right path to having great skin for life. Keep it up, my mom was an esthetician and taught us to do facials and start using eye cream in our teens, we are now middle aged, but people are always thinking we are 10-15 years younger. Yes, I think this product (which is one of my favs) would be beneficial for any skin. It gives your skin a glow and the aromotherapy is very soothing or refreshing, whichever you need. Highly recommend!

You may want to try this, especially if the rest of the line works for you. If you don't currently use a toner, this may fit in with your routine. Is the larger size also a spray?
I love toners but I can't be bothered if I have to go find a cotton ball every time I want to use it. The smaller to-go version has a pic with a spray nozzle. Does the larger size have a spray nozzle as well?

Thanks!! xoxo

Yuppers! From what I have seen in store they are both great sprays! I enjoy this one and also use Essential-C Toner by Murad. Both of these products help my face feel tighter and hydrated. Helps fend off break outs without any harshness. your skin is precious and i don't believe in over spraying. i do 4 sprays too. one for the forehead, two for the cheeks, and one for the mouth/chin/nose. sometimes in winter, when it's dry, i repeat. so that's 8 sprays.

i actually prefer spritzing it onto a very small cotton pad/ball and swiping it on my face. it feels more potent. but the Burke Williams spa place told me that toner should always be spritzed, though i'm not sure why.

Love it. It is not like these other spray mist. It is part toner and part serum of essential oils. Perfect all year round. I set my makeup with it by spritzing some in my foundation brush before my foundation application. It makes it easier to apply my foundation . And it is great for your skin if you have oily skin or dry skin. I don't think its good for those who suffer from Roseaca

based on their location in the 'ingredient deck', the amount of 'oils' is very low. after spraying the Elixir, my skin doesn't look oily only dewey and moist. however full-disclosure is necessary at this time: Josie Maran Argan Oil is also a part of my beauty routine. Treatment oils are not like cooking oils! Caudalie beauty elixir doesn't have the high concentration of 'oil' that is found in the single-ingredient therapies found in other products like argan, jojoba, etc. my rosacea has not reacted to the Elixir, also no other breakouts; however, acne is not a problem for me. The essential oils in it are rosemary, peppermint, balm mint, and rose. Rosemary, peppermint, and balm mint are natural antiseptics, but they won't dry out your skin, so they are fine for oily or acne prone skin. Rose is more for normal to dry skin types. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for oily or acne prone skin, but I don't think it will clog your pores. Everyone is different, though, so pop in to your local Sephora store and test it!

I have exceptionally oily skin AND it is very sensitive. The "essential oils" are a minimal component of this product. Just shake it before spritzing on your skin. I spritz when out and about and then blot my face and, Voila, the oily sheen is gone!!! Also, great for travel since it can double as a toner.

This almost has an aromatherapy effect. Definitely try it in the smaller travel size. I think you'll love it.

I have a combination skin so sometimes I have breakouts here and there. This doesn't really help with acne, but it doesn't make it worse either. Sometimes I think that it help a little bit with my acne, it dries out my acne and moisturize the affected area when -don't follow- I popped my pimple. So, it helps, but don't expect too much out of it if acne treatment is what you're looking for.

yea, it really helps with mild acne. like, i have adult acne, which is acne mostly around the mouth, chin, and nose. and if i use the toner diligently and eat well (if i avoid pepperoni and cheese basically), then usually i can avoid acne during that time of the month called pms.

i do use neutrogena acne spot gel to help prevent the pimples, but once they start, all the gel does is to speed up the painful process of the pimple enlarging and then bursting because of the acid in the ingredients. it's almost worth it just to wait for it to go away naturally.

i also recommend Caudalie's gentle buffing cream if you have adult acne like me. i rub my chin with it a few times a week and it helps to exfoliate the skin gently without using any acids (i hope :P)

More expensive. I would not recommend either. Go for Urban Decay make-up setting spray.

the evian spray is pure water (zero benefit, you're actually dehydrating your skin more by simply spraying it on your face and leaving it on, and the caudalie's first ingredient is cytotoxic alcohol which causes free radical damage even at low levels. take your pick

Evian Spray cannot even compete. Evian is useless unless you want to dehydrate your skin! Claudalie works and works amazingly!

This spray needs to be shaken because there is some oil in it. It also has a cooling menthol feel and scent.

Hi, the Elian is just to freshen your skin with moisture whereas the caudalie beauty elixir is for use as a toner and is packed with good for your skin. Nutrients . Is kind of like using a toner, then serum all in one. They're not the same category of product.

I have tried both products and I would prefer the Caudalie, however, I do not think it is my favorite. There are definitely better face mists out there. The Evian mist is just water in a can.

I have used Evian in the past and use Caudlie now. Both are refreshing but Caudlie has a lovely natural almost herbal scent and tones your skin, tightens your pores. It feels more like a special treatment than just water.

The Evian Mineral Spray is a more aerosol type spray that is lightweight and helps to hydrate the skin. The Caudalie spray is hydrating and light but also helps for your makeup to absorb easier onto the skin.

I prefer Caudalie's facial mist to Evian's face spray. The Evian spray, which I also own but never use, feels like nothing but water. It's nice enough on the plane or elsewhere, but it evaporates pretty quickly leaving my skin feeling a bit more moist but not significantly different.
The Caudalie spray, which I own multiple bottles of and constantly repurchase, provides aromatherapy in addition to hydration and toning. Caudalie uses ingredients like rosemary, mint, and orange blossom to create a spray that smells great and feels great. I drink loads of water, so when I spend money on a facial spray, I want it to feel like more than water. I recommend the Caudalie mist, as it smells and feels amazing.

They are pretty different products in the sense that Evian is just water and the Beauty Elixir has lots of ingredients (like rosemary and peppermint) that are meant to make it feel revitalizing. I like Evian for like crazy hot days when you go to the beach or are at a theme park in the middle of summer, but for day to day, I definitely prefer the Elixir. The Evian spray also messes up my makeup when I use it, where the Beauty Elixir doesn't. It just gives you a nice glow after you spray it on. Hope this helps!

Question
Is this good for airplane use?
My skin gets so extra dry and tight on airplane trips. Would this product help with that? And would it be okay for airline travel? Thanks in advance.

Just took an 8 hour plane flight with it! The smaller version is perfect, it fits right into the 311 bag and does wonders to make your skin look refreshed. When I got on the airplane (it was a red-eye) I used the Murad face wipes, slicked on a thick night cream, then went to sleep. I woke up when the flight was landing and used the Caudalie spray, my skin was perfect (I should note flying usually makes my skin break out terribly) It toned down the oily aspect of my face and made me look surprisingly refreshed! Highly recommended.

It works really well when you are in the air. On the last international trip I brought this with me on the airplane and let my friend use it as well. She loves it! It makes you feel refreshed and more comfortable during long airplane ride. I definitely recommend this! I am actually planning on buying it again for my next trip.

This product would be perfect for airplane . I use to use other spray mist that does not contain all these amazing ingredients. It is a double benefit. It will keep you refresh, calm your senses and it smells great and it is not irritating. I have sensitive skin and I have not had a rash or itchy feeling about this product

It was actually recommended to me for airplane use in a skin lesson at Sephora. Shake it (the small bottle is airplane approved for size for sure) and spray it on (I do it before I get on the plane, and then again after a long flight).
