Questions & Answers for Caudalie Beauty Elixir

Question
I have nice skin already, what would I benefit from this product?
I'm 25 and I have pretty decent skin, the occasional blemish on my chin, and I can see my pores up close in a mirror on my nose but other than that I think my skin is pretty nice. I have combination skin, that is on the dryer side. I use Caudalie Gentle Cleanser, Moisturizing Cream, and the Eye and Lip cream. I love all 3 of these products and my skin is smooth and clear when I use them. How exactly would this product make my skin even better? I'm trying to improve my skin as much as possible so I don't have to use as much face make up as I'm using now. Thanks.

I am 27 with very similar skin to what you described. This product is a toner, it is just not applied with a cotton ball like the traditional toner. Toners are important because they do help to balance the ph of your skin like someone else mentioned, but they also help clear any last residue, from makeup, dirt, or even your cleanser after washing. The help nuetralize your skin so that your moisturizing products absorb more evenly, and deeply. This product does have alcohol in it, which can cause a tingling and burning sensation, but it also has many oils with give a cooling feel, such as the peppermint. I love it and swear by it. Even with the alcohol it does not dry my skin. I also use it to set my makeup. It creates a more natural look and feel to my application. However, if you do find that it is drying your skin, and/or uncomfortable on your sensitive skin. I would switch to a rose-water based toner, with no alcohol. I hope this helps!

You can use this under or over your make-up. I have found that it keeps my skin moisturized (not greasy) but just keeps it from getting tight in those dryer regions. I am confident that you would like this product! I use it throughout the day to freshen my makeup. And for non-makeup days, it feels sensational and gives a dewey, refreshed look.

The toner simply provides another layer of protection and nourishment. It firms up your skin like any other toner and closes your pores. Essence of rose and essence of myrrh are really really good for your skin and ancient ways of preserving beauty naturally, without the chemicals. I think the peppermint in the toner is to make it smell nice and refresh your skin, to wake you up. I'm not sure if it does energize your skin or not. The toner smells really nice and it really does wake you up in the morning. I'd try a sample for a week and see how it goes. :)

I'm 27, and use this as a toner after cleansing. Toners are essential in restoring our skin's natural pH after cleansing and to make our moisturizers more effective and absorbed better by the skin.

I'm not a dermatologist by any means, but i feel like i've used an arsenal of different products on my skin. I have sensitive/ combination skin that seems to be prone to irritation, so I'm usually very careful about what type of product i use as well as the quality and credibility of it. I would have to say in my own opinion, that the quality and integrity of Caudalie products are top notch. I rarely feel I can go out without makeup, but when i wear this (alone, or on top of light makeup) i feel the rich mist working it's way into my skin, without if ever feeling heavy or greasy. Something like this that encourages your skin to breathe and increase microcirculation is always good, because your skin is an organ and it likes to be able to breathe.

Sounds like you're on the right path to having great skin for life. Keep it up, my mom was an esthetician and taught us to do facials and start using eye cream in our teens, we are now middle aged, but people are always thinking we are 10-15 years younger. Yes, I think this product (which is one of my favs) would be beneficial for any skin. It gives your skin a glow and the aromotherapy is very soothing or refreshing, whichever you need. Highly recommend!

You may want to try this, especially if the rest of the line works for you. If you don't currently use a toner, this may fit in with your routine. I've found that it does add moisture, or make my moisturizer work better. I bought the small bottle, so I'm not out that much if it doesen't work in the long run.

Hi,

My doctor once told me that toners and similar products are absorbed through the skin, and that to only spray them over things that I wouldn't mind being absorbed also. If the makeup is all natural and you're sure there's nothing in that would hurt your body if it was absorbed, go ahead. I'd be really careful of products which have ingredients that are questionable, because they might also be absorbed along with anything else.

This is awesome. I love it.

Hope this helps.

Is the larger size also a spray?
I love toners but I can't be bothered if I have to go find a cotton ball every time I want to use it. The smaller to-go version has a pic with a spray nozzle. Does the larger size have a spray nozzle as well?

I use this BEFORE I put on my sunblock or moisturizer. Wait 5-10 minutes after you spray it though, so it can absorb into your skin well. It does make your moisturizer/make-up lasts longer.

The first bottle I use this, it last about 1-1.5 months. I used to spray twice a day with 3-4 times spray of each time use. Now, it last about a month or less because I'd use it 3 times or more in one day.

based on their location in the 'ingredient deck', the amount of 'oils' is very low. after spraying the Elixir, my skin doesn't look oily only dewey and moist. however full-disclosure is necessary at this time: Josie Maran Argan Oil is also a part of my beauty routine. Treatment oils are not like cooking oils! Caudalie beauty elixir doesn't have the high concentration of 'oil' that is found in the single-ingredient therapies found in other products like argan, jojoba, etc. my rosacea has not reacted to the Elixir, also no other breakouts; however, acne is not a problem for me. I have a combination skin so sometimes I have breakouts here and there. This doesn't really help with acne, but it doesn't make it worse either. Sometimes I think that it help a little bit with my acne, it dries out my acne and moisturize the affected area when -don't follow- I popped my pimple. So, it helps, but don't expect too much out of it if acne treatment is what you're looking for.

yea, it really helps with mild acne. like, i have adult acne, which is acne mostly around the mouth, chin, and nose. and if i use the toner diligently and eat well (if i avoid pepperoni and cheese basically), then usually i can avoid acne during that time of the month called pms.

i do use neutrogena acne spot gel to help prevent the pimples, but once they start, all the gel does is to speed up the painful process of the pimple enlarging and then bursting because of the acid in the ingredients. it's almost worth it just to wait for it to go away naturally.

i also recommend Caudalie's gentle buffing cream if you have adult acne like me. i rub my chin with it a few times a week and it helps to exfoliate the skin gently without using any acids (i hope :P)

your skin is precious and i don't believe in over spraying. i do 4 sprays too. one for the forehead, two for the cheeks, and one for the mouth/chin/nose. sometimes in winter, when it's dry, i repeat. so that's 8 sprays.

i actually prefer spritzing it onto a very small cotton pad/ball and swiping it on my face. it feels more potent. but the Burke Williams spa place told me that toner should always be spritzed, though i'm not sure why.

The essential oils in it are rosemary, peppermint, balm mint, and rose. Rosemary, peppermint, and balm mint are natural antiseptics, but they won't dry out your skin, so they are fine for oily or acne prone skin. Rose is more for normal to dry skin types. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for oily or acne prone skin, but I don't think it will clog your pores. Everyone is different, though, so pop in to your local Sephora store and test it!

I spritz when out and about and then blot my face and, Voila, the oily sheen is gone!!! Also, great for travel since it can double as a toner.

This almost has an aromatherapy effect. Definitely try it in the smaller travel size. I think you'll love it.

It's a very light helping of oil and I haven't experienced any issues. I use it sparingly.

Not a toner, a refreshener. Don't think it would affect blackhead
formation.

Quite honestly, I have the smaller version and I use it twice a day, and it's lasted well over two months, with plenty to spare. It looks like I haven't made a dent in the bottle at all.

My experience has been 2-3 months with the big bottle. I can go through a 1oz travel size in about a month, however I use it liberally (morning, night, and sometimes during the day when I need a pick me up).

Not very long. It takes me 5 - 7 sprays to mist my face/neck/decollete since it sprays in short spurts. I have a small bottle I've used once daily for about 3 weeks and it's 3/4 gone.

Question
Is it good for sensitive acne prone skin?
Currently I am using Boscia Clear Complexion toner, it has helped me with my acne but I need something more moisturizing for my skin in this season.

Have you considered sticking with Boscia and then adding a post-toner moisturizer to your regimen? From personal use I find that this product did not do much for my acne, however it was fairly refreshing. Not even much more moisturizing than the rest. I would recommend using Argan oil at night after toning with the Boscia (The argan oil too has worked wonders on my acne-prone skin) and then using a daily moisturizer after cleansing in the morning. I use an organic honey-based lotion from Botanics for the day - very rich and settles more quickly for under makeup use compared to the argan oil.

I have very acne-prone skin and I have tried a lot of different toners. I don't find them to be entirely necessary honestly. If anything they aggravate my acne. BUT I do use and love this. I use a lot of Vitamin A derivatives on my face and I need moisture and a "boost" and this fits the bill perfectly. It's expensive but doesn't break me out and seems to really calm my skin.

I also have acne prone skin. I had no problem with this product. It's not really moisturizing though, it's more of a top Dewey finish I'd say.

I had breakouts and it really helped clear my skin. Use it in the morning prior to applying makeup and at night before bed. Since it is free of chemicals it shouldn't irritate your skin.

This is non-drying, refreshing, and great as a toner for acne-prone sensitive skin. I'd try it in a smaller size first to ensure you like it.

Yes definitely!
This product is great for dry skin. I have really dry skin on my cheeks and around my chin and since i've been using this product (twice daily) my dryness has dramatically reduced, and my skin tone and texture have improved.
I do have acne-prone skin (less these days) and i'd recommend this for use over acne treatment and under moisturizer:
1. cleanser
2. acne treatment
3. beauty elixir
4. moisturizer

It's not moisturizing- it just tightens your pores. I have large pores, and it's really made a difference for me! if you're looking for a good moisturizer for acne prone skin, I recommend a moisturizer from the Origins line. I lovvvve Origins!
