Questions & Answers for Caudalie Beauty Elixir

Question
I have nice skin already, what would I benefit from this product?
I'm 25 and I have pretty decent skin, the occasional blemish on my chin, and I can see my pores up close in a mirror on my nose but other than that I think my skin is pretty nice. I have combination skin, that is on the dryer side. I use Caudalie Gentle Cleanser, Moisturizing Cream, and the Eye and Lip cream. I love all 3 of these products and my skin is smooth and clear when I use them. How exactly would this product make my skin even better? I'm trying to improve my skin as much as possible so I don't have to use as much face make up as I'm using now. Thanks.

I am 27 with very similar skin to what you described. This product is a toner, it is just not applied with a cotton ball like the traditional toner. Toners are important because they do help to balance the ph of your skin like someone else mentioned, but they also help clear any last residue, from makeup, dirt, or even your cleanser after washing. The help nuetralize your skin so that your moisturizing products absorb more evenly, and deeply. This product does have alcohol in it, which can cause a tingling and burning sensation, but it also has many oils with give a cooling feel, such as the peppermint. I love it and swear by it. Even with the alcohol it does not dry my skin. I also use it to set my makeup. It creates a more natural look and feel to my application. However, if you do find that it is drying your skin, and/or uncomfortable on your sensitive skin. I would switch to a rose-water based toner, with no alcohol. I hope this helps!

You can use this under or over your make-up. I have found that it keeps my skin moisturized (not greasy) but just keeps it from getting tight in those dryer regions. I am confident that you would like this product! I use it throughout the day to freshen my makeup. And for non-makeup days, it feels sensational and gives a dewey, refreshed look.

The toner simply provides another layer of protection and nourishment. It firms up your skin like any other toner and closes your pores. Essence of rose and essence of myrrh are really really good for your skin and ancient ways of preserving beauty naturally, without the chemicals. I think the peppermint in the toner is to make it smell nice and refresh your skin, to wake you up. I'm not sure if it does energize your skin or not. The toner smells really nice and it really does wake you up in the morning. I'd try a sample for a week and see how it goes. :)

I'm 27, and use this as a toner after cleansing. Toners are essential in restoring our skin's natural pH after cleansing and to make our moisturizers more effective and absorbed better by the skin.

I'm not a dermatologist by any means, but i feel like i've used an arsenal of different products on my skin. I have sensitive/ combination skin that seems to be prone to irritation, so I'm usually very careful about what type of product i use as well as the quality and credibility of it. I would have to say in my own opinion, that the quality and integrity of Caudalie products are top notch. I rarely feel I can go out without makeup, but when i wear this (alone, or on top of light makeup) i feel the rich mist working it's way into my skin, without if ever feeling heavy or greasy. Something like this that encourages your skin to breathe and increase microcirculation is always good, because your skin is an organ and it likes to be able to breathe.

Sounds like you're on the right path to having great skin for life. Keep it up, my mom was an esthetician and taught us to do facials and start using eye cream in our teens, we are now middle aged, but people are always thinking we are 10-15 years younger. Yes, I think this product (which is one of my favs) would be beneficial for any skin. It gives your skin a glow and the aromotherapy is very soothing or refreshing, whichever you need. Highly recommend!

You may want to try this, especially if the rest of the line works for you. If you don't currently use a toner, this may fit in with your routine. I've found that it does add moisture, or make my moisturizer work better. I bought the small bottle, so I'm not out that much if it doesen't work in the long run.

Hi,

My doctor once told me that toners and similar products are absorbed through the skin, and that to only spray them over things that I wouldn't mind being absorbed also. If the makeup is all natural and you're sure there's nothing in that would hurt your body if it was absorbed, go ahead. I'd be really careful of products which have ingredients that are questionable, because they might also be absorbed along with anything else.

This is awesome. I love it.

Hope this helps.

Not quite familiar with your foundation, but, if it tends to be an oily foundation, I would not recommend this product! Also oily skin, especially during summer months. Just took an 8 hour plane flight with it! The smaller version is perfect, it fits right into the 311 bag and does wonders to make your skin look refreshed. When I got on the airplane (it was a red-eye) I used the Murad face wipes, slicked on a thick night cream, then went to sleep. I woke up when the flight was landing and used the Caudalie spray, my skin was perfect (I should note flying usually makes my skin break out terribly) It toned down the oily aspect of my face and made me look surprisingly refreshed! Highly recommended.

From experience, and I have a prone sensitive combination skin as well, it's totally safe. It will control your shine and moisturize the area that's dehydrated. It somewhat dries your acne. So I would recommend this product, however DON'T expect too much if you're using this as an acne treatment, because it's not the use of this product, it will help for some people (like me), but I don't know if it will help for others. It's worth it to try though. Good luck!

I have roscea bad enough to be treated with lasers and glycolic peels at the dermatologists office and I found this product really stung my skin and not in a good way. It was a tolerable sting which lasted about a minute. I think it was the mint essential oil that they add for astringent purposes that caused the stinging. As someone with very dry skin, I do not need an astringent. Also, I really never get any zits. Thus an astringent only makes my skin worse. Add the stinging and my already red skin gets more irritated. I found the grape water to be more beneficial and useful. That being said, I see others with roscea say they have no problem. I think this product really depends on your needs.

I use this BEFORE I put on my sunblock or moisturizer. Wait 5-10 minutes after you spray it though, so it can absorb into your skin well. It does make your moisturizer/make-up lasts longer.

The first bottle I use this, it last about 1-1.5 months. I used to spray twice a day with 3-4 times spray of each time use. Now, it last about a month or less because I'd use it 3 times or more in one day.

Absolutely normal, that's why you need to shake it well first before you use it.

based on their location in the 'ingredient deck', the amount of 'oils' is very low. after spraying the Elixir, my skin doesn't look oily only dewey and moist. however full-disclosure is necessary at this time: Josie Maran Argan Oil is also a part of my beauty routine. Treatment oils are not like cooking oils! Caudalie beauty elixir doesn't have the high concentration of 'oil' that is found in the single-ingredient therapies found in other products like argan, jojoba, etc. my rosacea has not reacted to the Elixir, also no other breakouts; however, acne is not a problem for me. If you are talking about the top of the bottle, then yes. When it sits for while, you will see a bit of discoloration at the top. Just shake. It is still fine to use.

yes, the layer of oil is normal and it's that oil filled with essences of rose, myrrh, etc. that make your skin great.

do get a bottle from a recent batch though. the fresher the toner, the better for your skin. i don't think this is one of those products that age well with time.

I have really oily skin and this product works wonderfully on my skin. If you shake the product before applying, the layer blends with the product and absorbs into the skin.

yes, you should shake it before using it and it will mix in a matter of seconds; is only natural for oils to do so.

It is normal to see the layer of essential olis on the surface of this product. Shake the product well before spraying to distribute these oils and mist evenly over the skin.

I have a combination skin so sometimes I have breakouts here and there. This doesn't really help with acne, but it doesn't make it worse either. Sometimes I think that it help a little bit with my acne, it dries out my acne and moisturize the affected area when -don't follow- I popped my pimple. So, it helps, but don't expect too much out of it if acne treatment is what you're looking for.

I would say YES. The natural ingredients do not aggravate acne or cause any kind of skin reaction and I have very sensitive skin with mild acne myself.

The one thing about this is that it will not break you out. Stick to using this and your cleanser and cease submitting your skin to so many products. Sometimes acne is aggravated by using too many things, give your skin a break!.

Since it is part toner, it can help keep skin clean, which is very important with acne prone skin. It will certainly not cure your acne, but it will help hydrate and keep your skin clean.

yea, it really helps with mild acne. like, i have adult acne, which is acne mostly around the mouth, chin, and nose. and if i use the toner diligently and eat well (if i avoid pepperoni and cheese basically), then usually i can avoid acne during that time of the month called pms.

i do use neutrogena acne spot gel to help prevent the pimples, but once they start, all the gel does is to speed up the painful process of the pimple enlarging and then bursting because of the acid in the ingredients. it's almost worth it just to wait for it to go away naturally.

i also recommend Caudalie's gentle buffing cream if you have adult acne like me. i rub my chin with it a few times a week and it helps to exfoliate the skin gently without using any acids (i hope :P)

I don't think this would work towards actually treating acne but it does make my skin less oily which would ultimately help address acne.

I have combo/oily skin that is prone to breakouts. I dont think it will specifically help with acne unless used as part of a regime with other acne fighting prodcuts, but it doesnt make you breakout either. Plus grapeseed oil, and ingredient in this, is good for helping withe acne.

no caudalie from my experience does not help with breakouts, but it does help to improve quality of skin even while other products are treating the acne.

I have dry skin, and this seems to add moisture. If you are oily at all, I would use with caution as it may be too much moisture. I have some small blemishes once in awhile, and this does not seems to either help them or make them worse.
