Easiest way to tell is looking at the veins in your arm, if they are green then you are WARM, you have yellow undertones. if your veins are blue then you are COOL, you have pink undertones. :)

There are several ways to determine your undertones, I'd suggest searching online for "how to determine my skin undertone" as several beauty sites provide guidelines. It depends on how well your skin tans, whether your coloring seems more warm or cold. The pink undertone concealer seems to be more forgiving, as yellow can tend to make someone look sallow or washed out. If you plan on tanning, it really depends on how dark you'll get and how long your sessions will be. If it's 5-10 minutes on a regular basis, you may not get as dark as you would if you're planning on full 20 minute sessions. Also, obviously, it depends on how well your skin tans. My best method is taking a well-lit photo of myself, both with and without makeup, uploading it on my computer, and comparing it to the product colors (open side by side windows).

Taning will not change your undertones, it will only change your skin coloring. You need to ask yourself some questions, Do I look better in silver jewelry, pink blush, pink lipstick, bright white/gray/blue shirts? If yes, than you have blue/cool undertones. Do you look better in gold jewelry, peach blush, peach lipstick, tan/brown/yellow shirts? If yes, than you have yellow/warm undertones. If you can rock any of these looks, than you have neutral undertones and can buy either cool or warm undertoned make-up and have no problems.
