It takes about 1-2 hours to see the color develop.

8 hours you will see a slight color change. very minimal. thats about it. don't expect much.

For me, it takes between 4-8 hours to see significant color. I usually put it on before bed and wake up to a golden tan.

Apply it before you go to bed and you'll wake up with a tan. I found that this is the best way to apply the product as the smell might put you off durin the day.

When I use it I put it on at night before I go to bed, then when I wake up the color has fully developed. Just make sure you let it dry completely before going to bed. I would say approx. 5-6 hours for full color.

It takes about 24 hours from what I've noticed. But it's subtle.

This product applies absolutely flawlessly to your face, well atleast to mine. It lasts a long time too. I spoke to a Clarins employee who told me that this product is meant to be used on body and face, unlike some of their other products.

The product takes several applications to build up to the color you want and unfortunately it only lasts a couple of showers at best before requiring another application. Although the instructions don't warn against using the product on the face, it's not advertised as a face self-tanner. I would opt for a product specifically made for the face or skip the self-tanner on the face altogether and use a good bronzer.

This does not come off after showering. It generally lasts several days to a week depending on frequency of shaving/exfoliating. It also works wonderfully on the face.

Only lasts 1-2 showers on me. The clarins self-tanning products don't seem to last very long on me.

IT DOES A SMELL BUT ITS NOT STRONG

I just mentioned the smell in my review. It smells like acetone, which although better than most self-tanners is still unpleasant.

This product has a very faint smell that fades as product dries. Does not maintain the odor after it has dried. I also have a problem with most odors of other self tanners and do not have that same reaction with this one.

I feel that the scent is more of a "clean scent" not a floral scent.
I hate the smell of self-tanners generally but this is not bad at all.

I have very sensitive acne-prone skin and this product hasn't made me break out. To apply it to my face, I use the excess that's left on my hands after applying it to other parts of my body. I've never put a thick coat on my face, so I'm not sure if doing so would cause a breakout.

I'm very acne prone and it did not break me out at all. I have used it many times.

If you a prone to acne I would suggest asking your dermatologist what tanners they promote. Clinique has a lot of oil-free products so they may have a self-tanner for people prone to acne.

I have occasional acne and don't have a problem with this. Just apply it to clean dry skin and wash your face with a gentle soap before you go to bed. I just started using the clinique acne solutions toner and night lotion and it works well, you should try it!

I am prone to breakouts...i have very sensitive skin. Never have had a problem with this product!

When you are applying this product to your face, you can squeeze out a pea sized amount and evenly smooth it over your face - make sure to avoid getting the formula into your eyebrows, but blend it towards your hairline so that there is no noticeable line. Additionally, you would also want to apply the product to your jawline and neck while applying it to your face so that there is no break between your new golden tan and your pale skin. Wash your hands thoroughly after application. I would not recommend gloves as they tend to cause streaks.

4. Squeeze almost a dime-size amount of the gel into the palm of your hand and spread onto your palms (for easier, more even application)
5. Working quickly, smooth onto face and neck, taking care wound eyebrows, hairline and jawline
6. Wash hands well immediately after application
7. Allow gel to dry completely before applying make-up, if wanted

Hi! When applying Clarins Self Tanner Instant Gel to the face its as easy as putting on your daily face lotion. I apply to a freshly exfoliated face after applying my face lotion. The only trick to applying the self tanner is avoiding eyebrows and hairline. But, don't distress! If you apply a thin layer there should be no worries about your hairlines. And, if you do by chance notice the self tanner a little heavy in some spots once the tan has activated, simply use your facial exfoliate or I find that a washcloth rubs these spots right out. This is a great product for face and body I recommend it.

Just apply it to clean dry skin and blend in like you would a moisturizer.

Apply it just like you would any other lotion. Just be sure to keep it out of your eyes and mouth.
It doesn't streak and leaves you with a GREAT glow!

Still tacky after 30 minutes? This is one drawback. You definitely can't get dressed immediately. I either apply immediately after my shower in the morning. By the time I've done my makeup and hair I am dry. My other option is to apply in the evening and enjoy a magazine before bed until I'm dry. The results are worth the effort.

Clarins Express stays a bit tacky until you wash it off.

Are you applying too much? I use it sparinly, a little goes a long way and still gives a tanning effect. The stickiness goes away and the product absorbs in 5-1- minutes.

Sounds like you're using too much product. just use the size of a quarter for your legs - you can always apply more later after it absorbs. I find it best to use at night - allow 15 min. before putting on jammies and look great in the morning!

I use it on my face with no irritation, but there is fragrance in it, so beware.

I haven't used this on my face, Clarins has a couple of separate options for your face and neck which are gentler and not as deeply colored. It might not hurt your face, but you may end up with more color than is natural because your facial skin is so much more delicate. I would suggest trying the tanning towels by Dr. Dennis Gross for facial tanning. They are great.

Not at all! This leaves skin feeling smooth and doesnt cause break outs. I rub a dime sized amount onto cheeks, nose, chin and forehead - where the sun would naturally tan my face. Blend outward and smooth fingers along hairline and jawline, then immediately wash your hands!

I use this on my body and love it but have sensitive skin on my face so I was hesitant to use this on my face because it is a thick consistency and a bit greasy. So I tried Clarins intense bronze tint and love it! Easy to apply and no skin reactions. It's a tinted liquid but use sparingly because it is dark! Hope that helps good luck ;)

i used it on my face and was completely fine but i recommend adding some face moisturizer with a little bit of the gel so the color is not as intense.

It is clear

Gel is clear - so take your time putting it on and remember to wash your hands.

It is golden brown with a hint of orange. Color is better than most others I've tried.

The gel it self is kind of an ivory/peachy color. I know that doesn't really help, but it isn't clear, and yet not a dark brown either. Hope this helps some!

This is a clear, lightweight gel; you cant see any color immediately, but it's pretty fool proof - no blotches! A little also goes a long way!

I apply with just my hands - no brushes, mitts, towels, etc. It goes on easily and smoothly - just make sure to exfoliate first and apply it evenly. I've experienced no problems with streaking or blotches.

I start at my face and down, apply the gel in a cicular motion so you get an even skin tone .

I apply with my hands. The texture of the gel spreads easily and evenly. Apply a light coating . Because of the gel texture, you can feel that it has spread evenly. It doesn't "grab" and deposit in just one spot.

Take your time and work in one area at a time - get someone to do your back if you can. I also apply with alittle bit of lotion - either mixed in or on top- and this seems to help spread it more evenly. Remember those odd places that you usually forget about when moisturizing - like your armpit area and ankles. I don't apply directly to hands and feet, but spread lotion onto these areas for a smooth transition. Wash (w/soap) and dry your palms and between your fingers.

The only way I have applied this is with my hands. I just squeeze out about a quarter-sized amount at a time, rub my hands together and massage it in, and then repeat until finished. I can tell by feeling my legs or arms the places where I have already appied enough. The only place you have to be really careful about blotches is around your ankles or on feet where you have drier skin. Definitely be sure to wash your hands, especially between your fingers, as soon as you are done. I really haven't had any problems with un evenness, it's really a great product and easy to apply correctly.

This is definitely a face tanner (and works for body as well). It's non oily and lightweight and great to use on the face.
