Questions & Answers for Philosophy Hope in a Jar

Question
would this be a good product for oily skin?
I need a new skin care regime. I have combination to oily skin. About 5 hours into the day my eye makeup is gone and my lids are oily. I am desperate!! I'm needing to transition to an adult face care line; Although i do still break out occasionally. I am using proactive but feel its not moisturizing or exfoliating enough for me. I have heard reccomendations for this product and need to know if it would be good for my type of skin. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I would not suggest using this product if you have oily skin. I have combination skin and find it to oily for me. I would stick to looking for an oil free face lotion.

I have used this product only two weeks now and have been using antiaging products for at least 5 years but so far none have been that miracle cream, YET...so this is why I am giving Hope In A Jar, a chance. So far...so good at LEAST for the pore minimization! I say try it! My husband (Russ) got me this as a gift for Christmas....because I don't spend money on myself..but this is WELL worth it and I will next time!

What you smell is the lactic acid. It can be off putting and I have found that some jars smell stronger than others especially the longer they have been open. First time I tried this product it was an older jar and I could not use it for the smell. Someone convinced me to try again and a fresh jar was no where near as strong smelling. I got use to it after 2 or 3 nights of wearing it and do not even notice it now.

For me, it calmed my skin and moisterized it so that I have no more breakouts due to dry skin leading to excess oil production.

Honestly, I think it's the best moisturizer I have ever tried in my life. It's light, yet leaves your skin supple and hydrated. I have combination skin, but also tend to have dry skin, which leads to my breakouts. By using Hope in a Jar, I have noticed significantly, that my breakouts are less often, and it leaves my skin healthier and radiant! I think you should give it a try, and if it doesn't work out for you, hey! You can always return it for a more suitable product. ;)

I have combination skin, so I always have breakouts usually. I have used this product for a couple of days now and I haven't seen large breakouts from the product. It makes it really soft and heals dry skin. I don't think it really makes you breakout, unless you use it too often. You also don't need a lot. A little goes a long way!

'oil free' is a very relative term. this product does not have any oils per se, and the moisturizing plant fats in it behave as the moisturizing component. try Hope in a Bottle if you want a lighter product. it will help especially if you have congested, acne prone skin as it promotes cell turnover. good luck, and stay gorgeous!

Question
Not blending in all the way
I have this product and like it very much but when I go to put it on it sometimes does not blend in all the way and leaves big streaks on my skin even if I rub on it, almost like clumping (but the texture isn't like a clump, it's just a big streak). I have to scrape at it to get it off. Is that normal? We are in Texas in the summer but the A/C is on all the time. Could it be that it's just too cold?

The first time I used this product I found it a little streaky. I use the product twice a day and found that a dollop smaller than a dime will suffice for daytime use. I also typically wait 15-20 minutes before adding makeup.

I use both (rare min. in the morning and Hope at night) but if I had to choose it would be Hope in a Jar because it smoothed out my skin, like the little bumps on my forhead.

Question
is this ok for sensitive skin? can it be used every day if so?
i have already ordered some of "hope in a jar" based on great reviews. I am hoping that it will be ok with my sensitve skin. I had tried an Aveeno product that was to assist in fine lines as well as moisterizing and i had to stop using it. It made my face red and hot after only 2 days.

I haven't had any problems with this and my skin is super fair/sensitive. I use this with a prescription retinoid for wrinkle prevention every night. I do have a propensity for breakouts and am hesitant with new moisturizers but this has been fine.

It does have lactic acid in it--and the fragrance is a little strange. I would try maybe a sample before you get a whole jar.

Question
Redness
I have very dry skin. The skin of my face is constantly flushed/reddened, despite moisturizing products. I can't use products that "whiten" or "even out skin tone" because they just make it worse. So do products with fragrance. Will this help with the reddening? I'm desperate! I've tried everything!

I know what you mean by redness and irritation, my skin became extremely sensitive after experiencing acne for a couple years. I believe hope in a jar will help you like it did me. It seemed to calm my skin and get it under control. My skin quickly had a new glow to it, smoothness and youthfulness. Hope in a jar did not irritate my skin in any way but it did help my skin so much I am thankful to have found it. I use hope in a jar with the proactiv mask and they work very well together.

My daughter, who is 19 uses it but likes to mix with just a bit of water before she adds it to her skin. She really loves the purity cleanser- she says that helps to keep her skin in great shape. Hope this helps.

YES! I had a terrible reaction to this. My face turned bright red, tiny bumps, and itched like crazy! And the weird thing is, I do not consider myself to have sensitive skin, I have never had anything like this happen before!

Yes, my skin turned red, was covered with bumps, and itched like crazy. After I stopped using it, the itching stopped, but it took several days for my skin to recover (had to put up with about a week of flakiness).
