Questions & Answers for Phyto Phytonectar Pre-Shampoo Ultra Nourishing Oil Treatment - Ultra Dry Hair

Question
Would this work to put in my hair before I go swimming? I usually wet my hair with fresh water before putting on my cap and then wash my hair after.

I wouldn't recommend that for the following reasons:
1-The water plus the chlorine would wash the oil right off your hair.
2-You're supposed to apply it to DRY hair, relax for 30 minutes and then rinse it off.
3-Unless you're using a pool that only YOU utilize, then I think it's bad form to expect other people to swim in water that has the remnants of your hair treatment. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just pointing out that as a fellow swimmer I would not like to swim in water that is a mixture of people's lotions, pomades, deodorants, etc. Which is why ALL public pools require a shower prior to swimming.

The product should be massaged into dry hair and remain dry until ready to wash. If the cap keeps your hair dry it should work well. It is oily so maybe stay away from hairline so product doesn't get in your eyes while swimming....?

I think that would be good. I put mine in before I work out, and then put my hair in a tight bun while I work out. However, I have not found this product to have improved my hair at all after 3 weeks of use. You may be better off putting a really good leave-in conditioner in your hair under your cap. : \

While I am a Phyto addict, Kerastase makes a gel in their "color" line to protect hair color from chorine damage. It comes in a red tube. I wet my hair and apply this prior to putting on my swim cap.

I would try it under the cap... since it suggests 20 min to leave in before rinsing.

Question
What if you DON'T use the Phytonectar shampoo after?
I know all products recommend that you follow up with another product from their line. Does anyone have experience using this pre-shampoo treatment with shampoos other than the Phytonectar one? (Herbal Essences, etc)

I used Ojon shampoo and conditioner and I definitely saw results. Now whether those results would have been exponentially better had I used all photo products I don't know.

Yes I have used Phytonectar Pre-Shampoo treatment without using the Phytonectar shampoo. I am currently using a Redken shampoo. It is my experience that I am receiving all the benefits of Phytonectar.

Yes you can def use it alone. It is amazing. You will see the results the first time you use it, regardless of the rest of your hair care routine.

I would recommend Phyto shampoo and conditioner just because they don't have all of those icky sulfates and parabens, but the results will be there regardless

Which product to use
I have blonde, color-treated, dry course hair. I have fair skintone and blue eyes. I would like to improve the softness and shine of my hair. Would it be better to use the Phyto Ultra Nourishing Oil Treatment or the Phyto Ultra Nourishing cream?

I'd recommend that you try the new Phyto Keratin Line instead AND once a week use the Phytonectar Pre-Shampoo Ultra Nourishing Oil Treatment, I'm finding that Phyto Keratin is the BEST Phyto line out there right now.

If your hair is prone to breakage right now, this is a great treatment because it will add the protein back into your hair that was stripped away by chemicals. But you'll need a moisturizing deep conditioner (one that doesn't have protein in it) to add moisture back in as well. Try to keep a protein/moisture balance in your hair and your hair will be strong and soft.

I think the Phytonectar would give better results. I would leave it on as long as you can, then shampoo and condtion. I have the Phyto 9 cream too and like it, but think you would see and feel more measurable results with the Phytonectar Pr-Shampoo oil. I use it twice a week and leave it on for at least an hour, sometimes several hours and feel like my hair has improved.

Question
Am I doing something wrong?
The directions say to lather slightly before rinsing but I cant get it to lather no matter how hard I try!!! I have tried using more and leaving it on overnight but I can't get it to "lather" not even slightly.
Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone accomplish the last step?

I have tried so many different ways and I can't get the slightest lather out of mine either. Glad I'm not alone. I don't see an improvement in my hair from this product and the directions are sketchy. I think I'm going to return mine : \

It does not lather for me either. I do not think there are enough soap-like ingredients to allow it to lather. This is good, because it does not cause as much dryness.

Yes- First apply the product (directions state to apply the product on dry hair, I find that slightly damp hair followed with a plastic cap to keep heat in works wonders!) then follow with shampoo and conditioner if needed.

This product will help with breakage. It is a protein treatment designed to repair the hair. You need to switch your shampoo and conditioner. PhytoNectar and Karite should not be used every day, too much protein. Use Phytojoba shampoo and mask for frequent use and the others about every 4th shampoo. Good luck!

Question
Does this last long?
I've used this three times on my shoulder-length hair and the bottle is already over halfway empty. It says to use it liberally...I'm just curious if I'm using too much or if other people are finding they go through this really fast too. Also, it never specifically says, just to "apply before shampooing." I'm putting this on my dry hair, right? Thanks!

I think you are using too much. I have shoulder length hair, use this every other week and am halfway done my bottle after 5 months. I divide my hair into 4 sections, use 2 pumps on each section. I will also add a pump or two on my ends.

It may be too thick to keep on the scalp for a long time. The scalp needs to breathe. One item to try is phytopolleine from Phyto. It is formulated for scalp use.
