Questions & Answers for Fresh Crème Ancienne®

Question
Creme De La Mer vs. Fresh
I'm currently using Creme De La Mer and I love the fact that is nice and thick. It seems heavy but once you've massaged it in your face it absorbs so quickly! I love that! It's the only moisturizer or creme that I've ever had that experience with. I'm wondering how this will compare with Creme de La Mer? Does it have the same effect and consistency?

La mer has mineral oil and causes breakouts..and clogged pores.
I was using it before trying the Fresh..and I have to say I will never use La Mer again...already in 2 weeks my face looks better than in 90 days with la mer!

the formula works but it is more expensive than Creme la Mer. 1oz is 155.00 and La Mer is 250.00 for 2ozs. Possibly a better product though.

I thought of using Creme de la Mer - heard lot of good vibe about it... I would be curious to know myself the comparison. All I know is my skin is so tempermental. I have tried a lot of moisturizes and this one is the only one that helped with my dryness without making me overly oily. My cheeks have not broken out. See if you can get a sample of the Fresh moisturizer. Try just a little and rub it into your hands first, then pat on your dry spots.

To me, it provides the same effect and result as the La Mer, but the la mer is not as thick and heavy. When you massage or melt the la mer with your hands to pat onto your face. It absorbs immediately. Where this creme ancienne, you will still see traces of cream. I feel it doesn't absorb as quickly as the la mer. But just as great! I use the La mer for summer, spring and the creme ancienne for cold months when my heat is blasting in my apt.

The texture of Fresh Creme Ancienne is very similar to CdlM and should be applied with the same technique. However, I've found Creme Ancienne to be far more moisturising than CdlM has ever been for me. FCA also seems to have a greater anti-inflammatory effect on the skin compared to CdlM IMO.

VERY thick and rich. I would only use on dry or maturing skin- otherwise too heavy. I'm 45, and I only use it on really cold an dry winter days

Almost like a balm. Yes, it is thick. However, a little bit goes a long way. Break it down first by rubbing in tips of your fingers first. It is not so thick that I can't apply makeup over it. I love it!!!!

The cream is extremely thick and dense. It sits on skin in a thick, shinny layer, leaving an oily residue on anything that touches it. My recommendation is for those "no makeup days" or as a night cream. Also, while not strongly perfumed, I find the citrus smell a little off-putting.

Yes, it is like a balm. It is very thick & reminds me of a paste. But when my skin feels dry it works like no other. Very effective and a little bit goes a long way. I don't use mine a lot (just for nights when my skin feels dry).

you only need to add a little, not slather it. it may feel like you haven't put enough on but you will tell when it absorbs and your skin is soft.

the creme softens up and it is very easy to apply, but when it's colder, you will need to warm it up by rubbing it on your fingertips

i literally just pat my first two fingers into the jar and rub them together with my other hand. then i pat all over my face and lastly, rub in. i realized quickly that i was putting way too much on and not just spreading it because its so thick!

I take a small amount and rub it between my palms until it softens up. Then I pat it onto my face and around my eyes. Once it's on your skin you can rub it in easily.

I'm 45- I would not think a woman younger than 40 would rely need anything this heavy unless it's for really dry skin or patches. VERY thick and rick. Perfect for dry cold winters. One jar lasts forever- only need a dab.

It is for really dry skin and really helps moisturize. Not sure about age groups but I know that if you have oily skin you will not like this product. I am 67 and love this crème. I am really dry.

I bought this creme twice. It is very moisturizing. I use it twice a day. I like a thick creme and there are only so many out there that once you put them on you stay moisturized all day and this is one them. I've used thick cremes since I was 21 and this habit has preserved my skin and kept away lines.

Question
How long does the jar last?
I would love to try this cream, but spending over $100 on moisturizer isn't exactly in my budget. But if the jar lasts longer than my usual $40 cream, I will consider it. So on average, how long does one jar of this last?

FOREVER! You only need a dap and you'll only use it daily if you have really dry skin. I'm 45 and I only use it when I need it. I was reluctant for the same reason. Put I've never regretted buying it- have had it for over a year and still have half the jar- use it at night sparingly when I'm dry. Worth the investment, but keep the rcpt in case its too heavy for you!

Depending on how often you use it, I would say approximately 2 to 3 months. I use it twice a day, so probably about 10 weeks for me.

Question
Blackheads
i have combo skin with dry patches and some wrinkles, I've heard great things about this cream but am concerned about it possibly aggravating my blackheads (have them all over my nose). Don't expect my moisturizer to reduce blackheads (I use weekly peels & masks for that) - I just don't want to make 'em any worse.

I just started using this as well, and have the same skin type as you with blackhead as a concern and I am just not putting it on my nose/chin. They don't need the extra moisture and I have no fine lines there either. I use one lotion all over my face and this in the dry/fine line areas. HTH

Question
use of creme ancien in combination with other product
i am using elixir ancien twice daily am and at night, and was wondering if creme ancien would be recommended to use together with the elixirt at night for a beneficial effect, or perhaps would the black tea cream be better. I would not want to use both products together if they are too similar to each other to make it pointless. thankyou

Question
Would this work while on Accutane?
I just started Accutane today, and for the first time EVER will need to add moisture to my face. Accutane shuts off ALL your oil glands. Therefore, my skin will dry out big time (I'm acutally excited because my skin is SOOOO oily now). I'm thinking this might be intense enough for that...thoughts?

This cream won't be hydrating enough and it has oil in it which may clog your pores. I'd recommend Shiseido BioPerformance Revitalizing cream instead. Super hydrating and doesn't cause breakouts.

This is definately an intense moisturizer, but not out of place for use on oily/combo skin. I have used it as a night time treatment, and always am impressed.

Of course you'll still need a day cream with SPF, go to Sephora and see what they recommend. Accutane is serious stuff.
