I got a smaller bottle of the serum in the Three LIttle Wonders set (no longer available) and the directions that came with the set recommended using it before moisturizing 2x a day, once in the AM and once in the PM. I usually only use it 1x a day (I still see the effects). I apply it to dry skin after cleansing, wait for the serum to dry (less than a minute) and then apply a vit. c moisturizer. I will say that although I have rather sensitive skin, I can use it 2x a day without irritation. Hope that helps!

The over-reactive response to "Do some research and find out for yourself." was taken out of context and not mean at all. "Luxurious from NY" stated that it's best to use at night, and due to oxidation it was less effective during the day. We all have to find out for ourselves as all of our skin-types are very different...ergo "research and find out for yourself ". I find the serum is too strong to use twice a day on my sensitive, and in fact every-other-night use is my answer.

Poeple ask questions like this to get feedback. Answers like"Do some research and find out youself" are NOT helpfull. They are also just plain MEAN. If you cant answer the question, why tell someone with a legit question to "find out themselvs"? Only the worst kind of person would waste the time of people with the same question with an answer like that. Here is an idea. If you can't answer the question properly, DON'T!!!! Thank you Sephora staff, for an answer that was helpful. You can always count on Sephora!!!! :) Let's see if this get posted!

I have some sun spots along my cheeckbones. My aesthetician recommended that I use products with vitamin C during the day to help protect my skin from getting more sun spots. Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant, so it helps to fight environmental damage that you wouldn't be around at night. However, I have also used it at night when I travel so that I don't have to take 2 serums with me.

I would not recommend using vitamin C during the day, it oxides and looses its effect, it is best used at night. Do some research and find out for yourself.

This item can be used day or night (whichever you prefer). The skin does more repair while we sleep, however the vitamin c in the product provides anti-oxidant protection, so most prefer using this in the daytime.
Apply on clean skin, prior to your moisturizer. Apply to the face, neck, decollete, hands, etc (avoid the eye area). Using an SPF is key to any anti-aging regimen, make sure to use a sunscreen daily.

I hate to say it, but I broke out terribly after about 2-3 weeks of using this product. My cheeks became raw and enflamed and I had tiny blemishes all over. I'm not prone to acne, so I was shocked at how bad the reaction was.

I wouldn't recommend it if you have very sensitive skin.

This product did not cause my skin to break out. However, it does clean out pores, so you may have a little redness or areas of irritation for the first few days (only 2 or 3 days for me). Then skin is very clear and not red at all. Check the ingredients listed to see if there are any you may be allergic to.

In regard to the fragrance, I formulate skincare products and am a skincare specialist and "parfum" means SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCE, contrary to the fact this company advertises it is made WITHOUT synthetic fragrances . Synthetic fragrances, among many other toxic chemicals in skincare, are being closely connected to breast cancer.

An essential oil will provide a natural fragrance or natural scent from nature.

I tried a sample of this product and absolutely love it, but do not like that the company is stating this product is made without a synthetic fragrance. Unless something in the cosmetic formulation industry has drastically changed recently, 'parfum' is synthetic.

The oddity of people who are VERY sensitive, they actually have less risk of reactions from synthetic aromas than they do with botanicals and essential oils. But the health risk is higher. Is there enough 'parfum' in this to kill you? I doubt it. The problems with body products with chemicals that convert to bad estrogens, is the long term, constant every day exposure from multiple products.

I have oily skin and this product made my skin even more oily. It felt good initially, but after an hour or so it felt so sticky/oily that I washed it off and went back to applying a lightweight moisturizer or tinted beauty balm (my fav Dr. Jart controls any excess oil for hours). Truth Serum seemed to stimulate oil production, also seemed to make my pores appear larger and face appearance was shiny overall; needless to say it wasn't for me.

Question
Is my pump a dud?
The pump on my Ole Henriksen Truth Serum makes the serum explode all over the place. This morning it actually blew out sideways and upwards and got me right in the eye instead of into my awaiting palm. I read many positive reviews and only two other people mentioned having problems with the pump. Could this just be a dud of a pump or is there a trick to dispensing this stuff?

It sounds to me like the pump might just be clogged. I'd try wetting a Q-Tip with some warm water, if the tip looks dirty. See if you can wash it off.

No, they need to fix the pump. I bought a small size and a full size and the pump pumps out wayyy too much product. So I open it and just put some on my palm.

It's probably a dud of a pump. To clean it out though in the meantime, soak it in hot water to help unclog it.

I have had problems with the pump too. (I have noticed that I never had problems with the pump for the travel size bottle but the last two regular size bottles had defective pumps). At first, it would simply not pump any serum and then suddenly it would release a huge amount of it into my palm. I expect better considering the price! I recommend not using the pump and simply opening the bottle and let the serum flow onto your palm.

I personally got terrible acne from this product as did a few others, but many of the reviews claim that it doesn't cause more acne. My suggestion would be to visit your local sephora and ask for a sample and test to see if it will work for you.

I wouldn't say it will prevent or even treat breakouts but it does provide a few things dry skin needs: moisture and brightening. It's also anti-aging. I found some darker spots left behind after deep rooted blemishes were less noticeable after using this product.

Typically dry skin break outs are caused by the dead skin cells that are not removed and clog pores and become infected under the skin's surface. Try origin's modern friction. It makes my skin feel amazing even when it gets it's driest in the dead of winter. Then follow it up with a little truth serum and a moisturizer. I love the moisturizer that accompanies the truth serum. Smells great and is incredibly moisturizing without being heavy.

I have combination skin, so take that into account with my answer... While I feel that it COULD replace or be used without a moisturizer, it's toeing a very fine line. I still feel that the overall results are a little better when paired with a cream of some kind (a light one, for me; I like a gel kind of moisturizer over a cream).

I can't answer this question for everyone but in my case it has replaced my moisturizer. I have normal skin so my guess is that it will be the same for those with oily skin. Only thing to remember is that unlike a lot of moisturizers, it does not contain SPF.

No. Although it is a very effective product, it cannot replace a daily moisturizer. It leaves the skin feeling tight and looking bright, but doesn't fight fine lines and wrinkles like a good moisturizer can. I recommend wearing it under your favorite moisturizer.

Definitely use it at night. I don't think it's safe to use it during the day with the sunlight. Also, the serum is a bit sticky and will make any foundation or powder "clump" up or flaky.
