This stays on through a reasonable amount of tears or leakage. It isn't waterproof! But if your eyes water a little (say if you sneeze or weep at the sight of a sappy commercial) your mascara stays intact. If you're planning on having a good sob buy the waterproof version!

You know, I actually find it pretty hard to put a price on "worthiness". It really depends on how much you really need it, looks you want to achieve and whether you really want to shell out that much cash. I have really wimpy, sparse eyelashes, thus it would be worth it for me. If you have full curly eyelashes, your better off going with something cheaper if price is an issue to you.

answer 1
I have dark black eyelashes anyway. . . but I didn't notice that the blackout was any more :intense" than the regular Diorshow. For some reason I love the lotion-y smell of diorshow, and I think it has less clumping, so I switched back. But it really depends on your lashes so I'd go in the store and put one on each eye and check it out.

I find the Blackout formula to be a little bit more wet and you really can't coat as much since it does seem to dry a little fast then most mascaras at first. And it does define a lot more than just the regular Diorshow. I found the secret to the mascara was to wait and give it a week to let it thicken up and becomes easier to apply.

Well, this is more for a dramatic effect and volume than blackout. Blackout is more lengthening, and darker - really black black. When I was purchasing the sales person highly recommended diorshow more because it's more versatile, and diorshow already is black + intense enough.

the brush is also slightly different, but still has for the most part the same effect as regular show, the biggest difference is really in the actual kohl pigments used in Blackout. Some people strongly prefer one or the other, its just a matter of personal opinion!

They have different textures. I find the Blackout is more plastic like, while Diorshow is more of a traditional textured mascara. I prefer Diorshow because the plastic like texture of Blackout makes it difficult to separate the lashes. The best is to put on Diorshow first and then a layer of Blackout. The best of both worlds!

answer 1
I actually like to use BOTH mascaras together !! I have Blue eyes and light, thin lashes so volumizing is a must. I like to combine formulas by applying one type and color with a certain brush for a 1st coat and different mascar,a color and brush combo for the 2nd. So my trick is I apply one coat of Lancome Definilcis in brown with a thin pointy bristle brush for Lengthening. Then for my second coat I ues DiorShow mascara because it will enhance the thickening effect. The thick brush is great for plump lashes.

Right now I am using DiorShow in Plum because I think it makes my color pop. I use it daily and can pull it off everyday for work. I have tried Black but it was too dramatic for a daytime look, especially since I have light skin tone.

I like both for different reasons. I use the Defincils for more of a "day" or "work" look since it darkens lashes nicely and provides good separation without making me feel overly made-up. It doesn't do anything for volume, though. DiorShow is amazing for volume, length and curling. It does dry out a little faster and begins to clump, but I've found that rinsing the brush with water buys you a little more time.

Diorshow really pumps up the volume and darkness of your lashes (I prefer Diorshow Blackout for even more darkness). Definicils really lengthens the lashes. I do not get much volume but it does make my lashes longer than anything else I have tried. I like to use both together to get the volume and length I desire. Definicils is wonderful for lower lashes.

I have learned that with colored mascaras, other than black and brown, its best to use the colored mascara over a basic one like black or brown or you will look rather clownish. As far as colors to go with it, brown and bronze look great with plum shades, just be careful not to overdue any of the colors.

You can buy waterproof, however I like the regular better, I found the waterproof great but too hard to remove, lost some lashes removing it with an eye make up remover too.

you have to get the one that specifically says it's waterproof - otherwise, it's not...but it doesn't give those black circles or streaks down your face if you happen to tear up a bit.

Question
What makes this better than others?
I know that script and book writers' go to mascara is DiorShow, but what makes this better than others? Every movie and book I have read mentions this mascara, but I want to know if it's good because it's cheaper than all the other Dior products. Is something fishy?

I don't believe anything is "fishy" about DiorShow mascara; it is just as good as many other Dior products, namely the eye shadows and blushes. I think the makeup artists like this because the large brush deposits color easily and well, and the color is very saturated. It is better than many other mascaras out there, even considering the higher price tag.

I can honestly say this is the best mascara I've tried so far. It NEVER clumps, it really does have a curling effect, and the result is very dramatic (I use the black shade).

I don't know why it's cheaper than other Dior products, maybe because it's cheaper to make or because they make a lot of it. As far as the movie/book mentions, yes it's a good product, but they probably have a great advertising team as well!

I'm not sure how Dior comes up with pricing, it seems on par with other mascaras in other lines pricewise, however I've found this mascara builds volume, enhances definition and length much better than any other mascara I've tried. Recent products I've tested include: Lash Injection (clumpy), Bare escentuals Buxom Lash (nice definition, not much volume), DiorShow Blackout (great, very black, more defining than volumizing), Benefit BadGal Lash (dry formula, did not build volume), Lancome Definicils (goopy, didn't like brush). I know there are more!
Try it! If you don't like it, return it! My guess is you'll keep it and buy it in bulk so you never run out.

Don't believe the hype. I've tried it twice (two tubes, different colors) and found it to be dry and the brush to be so big as to be awkward. In my opinion, good old Cover Girl does a much better job for a fraction of the price.

This mascara gives you long length and a very black color. It lasts all day long. If you really want to see the difference try one eye with your regular mascara and one eye with Dior Show.

Question
Does this work better than fiberwig?
I've used fiberwig and love it so much, but based on the reviews and raves this mascara has been getting, I'm just a bit curious about it. I'd like to switch if it works way better in lengthening and volumizing my short thin lashes.

In my opinion, I like this better than Fiberwig because it lights up my eyes, thickens my lashes, and gives my lashes a dramatic "catwalk-like" effect. I feel like a runway model everytime I put this mascara on. The Fiberwig on the otherhand didn't do the same, it only lengthens and barely thickened my lashes. I think they are both great mascaras but I like the Diorshow one better. In fact, it's my favorite mascara.

I highly recommend giving dior show a try (you will not be disappointed). Fiberwig is awesome but dior show gives the same look but leaves the lashes with a softer, more conditioned feel. Dior show also layers better! :)

It really depends on what your looking for. Although both Diorshow and Fiberwig are pretty durable, I find Fiberwig to be the safer bet if it's raining. Diorshow is better if your wearing bright colored eyeshadows if you really want your eyes to pop. This curls better and thickens better, but I like Fiberwig better for lengthening.

This mascara definitely gives you the results you are looking for better than fiberwig. I just finished my fiberwig mascara and it just adds length, but diorshow does it all without clumping and looking too overdone.

I use Fiberwig too. My lashes look longer and thicker with Diorshow than with Fiberwig, but mine are really long to begin with. I know with Fiberwig you can build up your lashes. I just find that Fiberwig has a more natural look, whilst Dior is much more dramatic.

I think it depends on your hair and skin color too. If you have dark hair and eyebrows, go for black. If you are blonde with blue eyes, brown would be good for a natural daytime look and black would make a more dramatic evening look.

Makeup is largely a matter of opinion and there are several camps out there when it comes to shades of mascara. Some say one should never wear anything but black regardless of hair/eye color. The other camp states the brown shades (black/brown and brown) should be worn by those with lighter colored hair regardless of eye color. Specifically, the lighter your natural lash color the lighter the mascara so that with makeup one's lashes should not constrast too much with one's hair color. I hope this helps. Oh, and always stay away from blue mascara! :)

I often wear contacts and this doesn't do any harm for me. I haven't had any problems except for the one time I actually jabbed myself in the eye with the brush, but that's a whole other story. Just be careful during application, and you shouldn't have any issues, as the actual formula is just fine.
