Murad Hydrating Toner

What it is:An alcohol-free toner that replenishes lost moisture to refresh skin and prepare it for treatment. What it is formulated to do:Hydrating Toner is a lightweight mist that rehydrates and refreshes skin while restoring skin’s natural pH balance and neutralizing surface impurities. Sodium PCA improves hydration, while chamomile and cucumber extracts soothe and minimize skin irritation. Lecithin helps bind water to restore skin’s suppleness as vitamins C and E combine to provide powerful antioxidant protection. Hydrating Toner is recommended as a step one cleanser/toner in any Murad resurgence regimen. It restores pH balance and neutralizes surface impurities as part of Dr. Murad’s Inclusive Health&reg system of care What it is formulated WITHOUT:- Parabens- Sulfates - Phthalates What else you need to know:This product is scientifically proven, dermatologist developed, and tested on people, not animals. Murad’s patent-pending, proprietary technology, RepleniCell™, turns water into a “performance hydrator” for ultimate skin health and beauty. It helps skin act younger in three ways: it helps skin attract water, it binds water to the skin, and it helps skin retain water.

I am not sure if hormonal acne is any different than regular acne. But this does work with acne products. I use it after exfoliation and it doe not aggravate my condition. But if you are worried you can just wash it off before you put the retinol on. They have a toner for acne skin but that has menthol and most acne skin is not compatible with menthol (it is an irritant). So this is a good choice.

I've been using the Murad hydrating toner. It says in the description it combats hormonal aging and imbalanced skin. I have hormonal breakouts and along with medication, I use this twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night. My breakouts have decreased dramatically, although I couldn't tell you how much the medicine does. But I do know that my skin is definately more hydrated. Sometimes I can actually go without moisturizer(even though I know you're not supposed to do that) This is one product that I will stay loyal to. And I love that it sprays on instead of using a cotton ball to apply. I think you end up wasting less.

I use Retin-A, Differin and other topical RX products on my skin, I don't find that any particular moisturizer irritates more than the sun, definitely invest in sunblock or even better stay out of the sun. I like Kinerase's Ultimate Night Moisurizer and Kate Somerville's moisturizers. Both lines are very soothing and do all the antiaging they state.

I use this toner both day and night, and during the day I follow with Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion, with contains Retinol. I'm not sure how much Retinol is in the Skin Perfecting Lotion, but the two work great together and I've never had a problem with irritation from the combination.

No alcohol, but it does have Witch Hazel, which does not dry the skin.

Witch hazel is listed as one of the top five ingredients, which I believe has a natural alcohol component. This toner is not drying at all. I would highly recommend.

The ingredient list does not show any alcohol as a major component. The first ingredient is water - which shows that its water soluble and good for oily skin. Butylene glycol is the second major component and that too is non-drying and non-alcoholic. So no drying up or stretchy feeling if thats what you are worried about.

I would not use this over makeup as this will take your makeup off. It's not a moisturizer. It actually removes residual makeup, oil, dirt your cleanser may have left behind. Lots of toners are drying, this one does not dry your skin out, it leaves it hydrated but not moisturized like a traditional moisturizer would. The aim here is to leave behind very little so it just hydrates enough to prevent excessive dryness.

Hi, I can relate to some of your skin conditions. I have very sensitive skin and had problems with itchy patches, bad breakouts and rashes! I was really afraid in using toners since so many of them can be harsh. I recommend The Murad Hydrating toner. This product is gentle and very hydrating. I apply at least twice a day and use it as a extra refresher when my skin is in distress. The chamomile and cucumber ingredients really help. I've been using it for about 6 months and my itchy patches have disappeared. Give it a try!

I really like Philosophy's Purity, it's an all in one and not harsh at all. Has a nice botanical smell. This toner is great, but for acne, DDF has a great glycolic toner.

Question
Is this product safe to use immediately after a professional microdermabrasion?
After a professional microdermabrasion, I read that the use of a hydrating toner can remove any micro-crystal residue or dead skin cells that may have been left behind. With that said, it is recommended not to use anything containing any sacylic or glycolic acide or any kind of exfoliants. I didn't really see anything in the ingredient list that could cause damage if applied after a microderm, but wanted to see if anyone had successfully used this after one?

If you feel you have residue after a microderm, your esthetician is not cleaning your face well. You should leave your treatment feeling hydrated, and I wouldn't be looking to use a toner again, except maybe with your nightly regimen. I much prefer Dermologica's line. I think they are more calming and hydrating.

The Murad Hydrating Toner has glycolic acid. We recommend consulting your Esthetician and showing them the ingredients to see if this would be okay to use after your treatment. Here's the list of ingredients:

6 oz:
Water, Butylene Glycol, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Algae Extract, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract, Sodium PCA, Lecithin, Tocopherol, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Palmitoyl Hydroxypropyltrimonium Amylopectin/Glycerin Crosspolymer, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Glycolic Acid, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, PEG-12 Dimethicone, PEG-40, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Borate, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Benzyl Salicylate, Geraniol, Linalool, Citronellol, Fragrance (Parfum), Yellow 6 (CI 15985), Red 40 (CI 16035).
