The top flips open. It's hinged, so it's easy to open and close.

The clear plastic case snaps open and closed on either the top or the bottom, near the pencil opening. The case flips open 180 degrees for dumping of the shavings.

The plastic cover on top flips open. Hold the sharpener with the Sephora side up and opening facing you and push up on the clear piece with your thumb.

It sadly does not work with nano eyeliners. I own a few and not matter how many times I try they seem to get slightly stuck in the sharpener!

There is not a big hole for the nano eyeliners, but there is another sharpener for $7 Canadian at Sephora, with a big hole & a small hole.

its better to turn the sharpener around the pencil, rather than the pencil in the sharpener.
its not easy to put it in, but it does fit with some effort.

Yes, it does work with the nano pencils, but it can be difficult to retrieve them since it works rather all too well. My nano pencil was especially tiny after using this on it. Good new though, it broke no points and it was very neat and tidy.

I can't seem to find a sharpener that will sharpen my Sephora Nano lip pencil. What gives? they are just a bit too fat to sharpen in any standard sharpener I buy.

I had the same problem and bought the Professional Slim Pencil Sharpener at Sephora for about $3. It works fine, but it's a snug fit... so it takes a little effort to get the pencil in and out. Sharpens perfectly if you don't mind the little bit of required elbow grease.

They have a $7 sharpener made specificly for the nano's its at sephora, it has two sizes of holes, one for the nano, and one for standard size eyeliners.

I don't know how big the lip liner is, but there is another sharpener that has a small and bigger opening and I think there is another one that looks like this one but the opening is bigger. Sorry I can't give a direct answer but you should visit the store or call.

I have found that a crayon sharpener I bought from WALMART works better than the Pencil Sharpener I bought at Sephora. The Sephora pencil sharpener was too small, but the crayon sharpener was just right.

Sephora, you need to adjust your pencil sharpeners to actually work with your products!!

I think this sharpened my 24/7 liner very well, better than any other sharpener I've used. It gave it a nice sharp point, and didn't break it at all. For $2 I think this is worth the investment, and you can't beat Sephora's return policy!

If the Urban Decay 24/7 pencil is standard size, the Sephora brand sharpener is the best I have ever used. I've used Chanel, Victoria's Secret and other known brands...they cost more, but they were NOT as good.

YES! i have 24\7 urban decay liner in zero (black) and i was blown away by how well it sharpens it. I strongly recommend it. And its only 2 dollars so its not a big beauty risk :P

Looking for a German made Sharpener.

I've had my old Shiseido Sharpener which is made in Germany for over a decade. As this one is hard to find here in the states for a replacement, and as I wanted to separate sharpernes by the color of the pencils I decided to try a new one.

I tried $5 one from other brand outside Sephora. That one does not do a job I expected. Maybe it's the angle of the blade, it shapens pencils too long and breaks the pencil tip. After only one shapening each, all my pencils got too much shorter with broken tips.... It is made in Korea.

As items on Sephora website do not show where they were made, I would like to know if there are any German made standard size sharpeners.

Sephora brand's Professional Slim Pensil Sharpener actually almost looks the same as my Shiseido, with a little tooth pick to clean, except that mine doesn't have the cover. I wonder if this one is German made, and what "Slim" means.... As I read the review, it seems like the standard size, but is that correct?

If there aren't any German, Japanese sharpeners are my second choice. Are there any? From my experience, Chinese sharpeners may not fit my pencils, and Korean sharperers do not do well.

it says "Germany" on the outside casing on the bottom as well as on the inside of the sharpener on the bottom. This works better than any sharpener I've ever used, it doesn't break the tips of my pencils and gives them a nice, sharp point. For only $2 I would recommend trying this, and if you don't like it, nothing beats Sephora's return policy!

This sharpener is the standard size for most pencils. I'm not sure where it's manufactured, but it should do the job for you. It doesn't over-sharpen or tear up my pencils.

This Sharpener works very well, i have not had any trouble with it. I'm guessing it's standard size, all my pencils fit into it. & i would recommend that you just buy it. If it doesnt work well for you, it was only $3 so not a lot to spend.
It works very well for me though.

I don't know if the "Pro Slim Pencil Sharpener" is German made or not. But it sharpens great! My friend has this sharpener, and its perfect to keep the shaving in, and it really does sharpen well. Its also a great price which is awesome! By the looks of it, I think it is for smaller or thinner pencils, not standard size? But it is awesome! So check it out! :)

fits slim sephora eye pencils?

the slim sephora lip and eye pencils (the short ones that are black with the color of the pencil at the bottom and are only $4, not the long ones and not the fat ones) are slightly thicker than normal slim pencils so that while they fit into normal slim sharpeners, they are hard to turn. Is this pencil sharpener any easier to use for these pencils? again, i don't mean the jumbo or fat ones, i know they make larger sharpeners for those. I mean the slim eye and lip pencils

This is not the sharpener for the Sephora eyeliners that have a slightly larger diameter than the long ones. It looks similar, though. The sharpener for these eyeliners doesn't have the little black round thing on it. I'd recommend using a tester eyeliner and trying out the tester sharpeners. You can ask a clerk, but from my experience, some of them aren't sure which one it is.

NO. I went and bought this sharpener for that SAME problem and it didnt fit. the pencil is too thick. And yes, I got the short, $4 (its $5 in NYC..) pencil, black with the color on the end. Doesnt fit.

It probably does, but i would suggest buying the sharpener with two holes from there, its $7. One of the holes is bigger, and one is standard, so, just incase the smaller hole doesnt fit, you could try the big one .

My Sephora slim eye pencil went into the sharpener easily (and I was able to sharpen the pecil), but was near impossible to remove. It seemed as though the sharpener was too small.

I favorited this item and now I can't find it, on my online Sephora "FAVORITE LIST"?!?!??

It's basically a 2-in-1 product. It's a pencil cover AND a pencil sharpener at the same time. You put this pencil cap over your regular eyeliner pencil. You take out your pencil and then use the cap, to sharpen your pencil.

It was on sale on Sephora's site for $1. I think I also saw it, in a local Sephora store for $1 or $3.

Hi. I am a big fun of the Sephora nano eyeliners. I previously had an another Sephora pencil sharpener- there are 2 size of halls, white.. - and had a trouble sharpen my nano and that one fell apart easy while using. So I was excited to try this eye sharpener and believed that no more trouble sharpen nano. But just one of them fits ok and other 2 don't fit. I am so disappointed. Your company brand is not friendly to own line?
