Questions & Answers for SEPHORA COLLECTION Rouge Infusion Lip Stain

Question
Is this a lip stain/ liquid lipstick or more of a lip gloss?
I like the Kat Von D liquid lipstick but they lack color selection. Are these Sephora Lip Inks a product that will hold up throughout normal day activities such as eating and drinking?

I can only comment on the darker/deeper reds, which really do stain your lips (to the point where you have to be careful about precise application), but I have heard that the lighter colors come off pretty easy.

When I first tried it on in-store, I was a little careless about application, thinking I could wipe it off like I would any other lipstick. That was absolutely not the case, and I had a bit of a reddish spot near the corner of my mouth for about 5 hours. That said, if you apply precisely, give it a minute, and then wipe off, you've got some kickass lip color that will last your whole night. It probably wouldn't last morning to night, but that would be asking a bit much I think. You'd probably want to reapply every ~6hrs or so.

This will definitely hold up through it all. Its more of a stain that a sit on the lips gloss. Didn't transfer to my glass and only had to apply once for it to last for hours.

It has the full, opaque coverage of a lipstick but lasts as long as a stain. It will definitely withstand eating and drinking all day long and in my experience doesn't even require a touch-up. I HIGHLY recommend it.

it is more or a lip stain than a lip gloss, so it does last through some eating and drinking.

For sure more of a stain than a gloss. The colour was vivid, and I put it on at 1pm and it had only faded a little by 9pm when I took it off.

Just like all other liquid lipsticks, it will fade just a TINY bit like in the middle of your lips but not around the edges. It'll still look like you have it on nicely though. But re-applying it is easy-peasy .

I think this holds up better than the KVD longwears. My KVD comes off the inner rim of my lip after only an hour or so, but this color stays put all day. Eating is totally safe, but i found that when my lips got wet, the color lifted a bit. Strange but really gorgeous looking texture! Cheers!

It is a stain, but with a slight sheen. It stays put, and doesn't come off very easily.

I would definitely say more of a lip gloss than a lipstick - in my experience, it did not hold up very well to eating/drinking.

You will probably have to reapply 2-3 times during the day after eating but it does have a long wear. I really like the feel of the felt tip so I'm encouraged to apply more often!

It is more of a stain, but highly pigmented one. 2 applications in the morning lasted through dinner. It doesn't leave a dry feeling like other stains and long lasting lip colors usually do.

It really is "zero texture" like they describe. Not glossy, not sticky, liquidy enough to apply well, meaning it doesn't dry instantly so you are able to work with it a bit. It kind of reminds me of the thicker Benetints, but more pigmented. It dries down after a minute or so and you can't really feel it.

I use the stain first so the color sets and then top with sunscreen lip balm.

I would put this on and then put on sunscreen lip balm. If you put balm on first, the stain will not adhere as well to your lips. Put this on, let it dry and then apply balm.

I wear under a lip balm (specifically, Smith's rosebud salve). I don't find lip inks/stains to be very hydrating.

I would recommend putting sunblock on top- using it under may interfere with the product's ability to dry to a stain and could make application harder. Wait until it completely dries and then put a light layer on top and reapply as needed.

It really depends on the type of balm that you use and what you prefer your lips to feel like. if your balm is thick and glossy, then put it on top to create a glossy effect. If your balm absorbs into your lips and dries completely, then put it on before the stain for maximum efficacy of both products. Hope this helps!

It's realty more of a stain. It's not sticky or glossy. It would do better under a balm I think.

I would use SPF lip balm first, then apply this over. However, this might effect the long wear feature of the stain in this formula...haven't tried wearing anything under it yet, but worn alone it lasts forever!

Question
Colour that looks "lip coloured"?
I want to choose a colour that looks like a true and natural lip colour. I am 50 and my lips get paler with each passing year! Just something to bring the natural colour back to my face. I am fair with sandy-coloured hair. Any ideas?

I found that these shades are darker than expected after trying strawberry and coral. I ended up going with coral extract to deepen the color of my lip, but not make them the stand out feature. I haven't been using it long, so I can't speak to how well it wears over the day. For a natural lip color, I would consider the beige, pink, coral, or tangerine, depending on what you think will go with your skin tone. Anything else will likely be bolder than natural, and for my fair skin the coral ended up giving me extra punch.

Your best bet is to stay away from lip stans and inks. Go for the Naturals, Yves St.lauren has a beautiful selection that I think is what you are looking for to suit your needs..its their "naked" line but it is not clear or uncolored, I think you will love it, give it a try, I even think you can get it a a sample now at the stores and possibly still online

I have the same complexion and I use the plum concentrate. It looks bright purple when you are looking at it wet but once you put it on and it dries it looks like a deeper natural lip color.

Nude beige, not pink. But I don't recommend the product. Not long-wearing, and it's drying.

I personally do not own this color, but my 19 year old daughter did buy this color of stain. It has a faint pink untone to the "nude" coloring. It is not bright and on her rosy full lips , it is not a noticeable undertone..it looks just quite right.
For a TRUE NUDE, I actually bought a Kat VonD lipstick that I thought would not be quite so , so , so VER TRUR NUDE as it is..If you want the real nude, go for the Kat VonD

I don't use one and wouldn't recommend it as it would probably interfere with the stain's ability to "set" on your skin.

NOt necessarily a primer, but consider filling the center of your lips with a liner. It tends to fade in the center.
