I noticed that using too much will leave your hair greasy, so using a small amount will achieve the best results.

I don't think so, it's very light-weight and I actually don't find it all that moisturizing.

Do you color or chemically relax your hair? In that case, you'd probably need some oil on the ends. But if you don't color or put a ton of heat damage on your hair PHD should do the trick. I color and heat style my hair so I add a little coconut or argan oil on the bottom inch to help with that damage.

Question
Safe for colored hair?
A post stated that the product, though fine in other respects, stripped color. Is this really a problem? I was about to use but will not until assured that it is wholly color safe.

I've been using this for a year now and no stripping. Check the ingredients - no harsh chemicals. It adds, not subtracts.

Does this product need heat?
I am looking for a product to use while airdrying my hair that will give me volume and some texture. Can I use this product or can it only be used for blowdrying?

I've used this in several scenarios, air dry, mostly air dry and then a quick blow dry, or a full blow dry. It definitely still works if you let it air dry, my layers have texture and it keeps away the static. If you want some added volume, you can let it air dry most of the way and give it a quick blast with a blow dryer. I've only done a full blow dry a few times and it gets a ton of volume that way.

This product needs heat. The back of the bottle recommends applying to damp hair and the blow drying for best results. I have used this one air dried hair before, while it still helped with manageability it did not give me nearly the same the volume or the smoothness as when I blowdried my hair.

It smells similar to the other Living Proof products (kind of clean and a tad floral). I can smell it when I put it on my hair, but I don't really notice it all after that. I personally like the scent.

answer 2
I think it depends on what you plan to do with your hair. If I am going to let it air dry, I use about a dime size just on the ends. If I'm going to blow dry, I use a nickel to quarter size and run it through my hair, roots to end. My hair is fine so I wash it every day, and it doesn't look or feel greasy when I use the larger amount. I can't speak to amounts if you only wash your hair every couple of days.

Pretty sure it lists the amount to use on the bottle itself. If I recall correctly it is a nickel size amount for shorter hair and a quarter size for longer.

Would use a pea size amount, and start at the ends of your hair and work it to your scalp, then comb through. The product recommends blow drying for best results.

I use it to air dry my hair and it helps bring out the natural wave. I usually out my hair up in a top knot to air dry and that helps build the wave or wash it the night before, apply PHD, let it dry naturally, loosely pin it up and sleep on it. I have bouncy voluminous waves the next morning.

Question
Should I put this on under or over my curling products?
I use a curl gel and a curl serum on my hair (Jessicurl Rocking RInglets and Spiralicious). Should I put this under those products or over them to get the most benefits? Also, I generally do not use heat on my hair when I scrunch it, is this still worth using for frizz control?

Question
hold a curl?

I've also used a round brush when blow drying and gotten a nice bend to the ends. I've used a flat iron and been able to do perfectly straight or with some curve.

I've used a curling wand to curl my hair after using PHD and it held up all day and looked good the next day too, just a little looser. My hair doesn't always hold a curl well either even though it has some natural wave. As soon as I add heat it often goes pretty straight but this product worked great.

I seem to be able to hold a curl and flat iron while using PHD. Living Proof products do make your hair very silky. Have you tried clipping your curls to your head after you curl them until they cool? This could help set the curl.

answer 3
You shouldn't have to add anything else. The chemicals that protect your hair are still in your hair. It does make your hair a little tacky so I would be hesitate to use a flat iron unless this product is completely dry so it doesn't burn on to your flat iron. While it should protect your hair, I don't think that I will aid in holding the style if the product is already dry prior to styling. The bottle recommends applying to damp hair then blowdrying.
