I noticed that using too much will leave your hair greasy, so using a small amount will achieve the best results.

I don't think so, it's very light-weight and I actually don't find it all that moisturizing.

Do you color or chemically relax your hair? In that case, you'd probably need some oil on the ends. But if you don't color or put a ton of heat damage on your hair PHD should do the trick. I color and heat style my hair so I add a little coconut or argan oil on the bottom inch to help with that damage.

Question
Does this product need heat?
I am looking for a product to use while airdrying my hair that will give me volume and some texture. Can I use this product or can it only be used for blowdrying?

I've used this in several scenarios, air dry, mostly air dry and then a quick blow dry, or a full blow dry. It definitely still works if you let it air dry, my layers have texture and it keeps away the static. If you want some added volume, you can let it air dry most of the way and give it a quick blast with a blow dryer. I've only done a full blow dry a few times and it gets a ton of volume that way.

This product needs heat. The back of the bottle recommends applying to damp hair and the blow drying for best results. I have used this one air dried hair before, while it still helped with manageability it did not give me nearly the same the volume or the smoothness as when I blowdried my hair.

Safe for colored hair?
A post stated that the product, though fine in other respects, stripped color. Is this really a problem? I was about to use but will not until assured that it is wholly color safe.

Question
hold a curl?
Has anyone tried to use a flat iron or curling iron to add texture on your ends with this product? I have another LP product and it seems to not allow a curl/bend to even set. Any different results with this product?

I've also used a round brush when blow drying and gotten a nice bend to the ends. I've used a flat iron and been able to do perfectly straight or with some curve.

I've used a curling wand to curl my hair after using PHD and it held up all day and looked good the next day too, just a little looser. My hair doesn't always hold a curl well either even though it has some natural wave. As soon as I add heat it often goes pretty straight but this product worked great.

I seem to be able to hold a curl and flat iron while using PHD. Living Proof products do make your hair very silky. Have you tried clipping your curls to your head after you curl them until they cool? This could help set the curl.

I think it depends on what you plan to do with your hair. If I am going to let it air dry, I use about a dime size just on the ends. If I'm going to blow dry, I use a nickel to quarter size and run it through my hair, roots to end. My hair is fine so I wash it every day, and it doesn't look or feel greasy when I use the larger amount. I can't speak to amounts if you only wash your hair every couple of days.

Pretty sure it lists the amount to use on the bottle itself. If I recall correctly it is a nickel size amount for shorter hair and a quarter size for longer.

Would use a pea size amount, and start at the ends of your hair and work it to your scalp, then comb through. The product recommends blow drying for best results.

It smells similar to the other Living Proof products (kind of clean and a tad floral). I can smell it when I put it on my hair, but I don't really notice it all after that. I personally like the scent.

Question
Should I put this on under or over my curling products?
I use a curl gel and a curl serum on my hair (Jessicurl Rocking RInglets and Spiralicious). Should I put this under those products or over them to get the most benefits? Also, I generally do not use heat on my hair when I scrunch it, is this still worth using for frizz control?

I use it with the primer...but haven't tried it without. I think the primer really helps to repel dirt and oil so, for me, I think the products are best used together.

answer 3
Living Proof says that you can use the two together, but unless I need the style to hold for 3 or more days (with a little dry shampoo in between days) then I find that PHD does a great job of holding the style (curl/blow out/flat iron, etc)

Question
Use Prime with Perfect Hair Day?
I'm confused as to whether I should use BOTH Prime and Perfect Hair Day together or if I should just use Perfect Hair Day if it also extends the length of time between shampoos. Any suggestions or is buying both overkill?

I use PHD by itself and with a primer. I have to wash my hair every 2 to 3 days with just PHD or just a primer and I can go 3-4 days with a primer/PHD duo. I love PHD but there is a noticeable difference when you add a primer. I have wavy, slightly course hair that isn't thin or thick.

I've used Prime on it's own, PHD on it's own, and the two products combined. They are both fantastic on their own, but I really, really love using them together. I just use a tiny amount of both, barely half a pea size, putting the prime on my hair first, then the PHD. They are both so lightweight that it's not too heavy a combo for my hair and this product combo can make my style last for 3 to 4 days without ANY touchups. Pretty incredible. I used to have to touch up my curls or re- flat iron my bangs every day! I have a ton of pic on my blog, Girl Get Glamorous, if you want to see the PHD in action. I hope this helps!!

This product is not "heat activated" but it does provide protection against heat damage. They recommend blow drying because this method makes most people's hair smoother than just air drying. I have tons of pics on my blog, Girl Get Glamorous, with my hair air dried with the product on and my hair blown out and heat styled if you want to see the difference. I hope this helps!
