Questions & Answers for Kat Von D Spellbinding Eye Shadow Book

Question
KVD, UD Or TF?
I Really Want To Get The KVD Spellbinding Eye Shadow Book (Seems Like A Better Deal Than The UD Vice 2 Palette And TF Pretty Rebel Palette) And Possibly Spellbinding Lipstick As Well. If Anyone Has Tried 2 Or All 3 Of These, What Do You Suggest?

I've tried both UD and Spellbinding palettes, and they're both amazing. I would recommend getting both if you can, but if not I guess it depends on what type of finish you prefer. A lot of UD's shadows are quite shimmery, so if you prefer a more frosty finish then I would go with UD. However if you prefer a more satin/matte finish you might prefer Kat Von D's colors.

Also you have to look at colors as well, do you prefer brighter, sparkly shades? Or more sultry, smoky colors? I feel like the Kat Von D palette would work better for the latter.

I hope this helps!

I have all the pretty rebel and I work full time at Sephora as a makeup artist. So here is the deal, I LOVE URBAN DECAY SO MUCH but, I also find I have alot of the Urban Decay Shadows in other pallets. The pretty rebel has some of the same shades as the Urban Decay Vice 2. They are much more BOLD IN YOUR FACE while Kat Von D is beautiful but not as intense, and you honestly get more bang for your BUCK with this pallet. I really hope I answered your questions. Get that Kat Von D. Its a mix of all of them if you ask me, and I seriously look, swatch and play with these shadows and pallets all day on clients. Trust me.

Def kat von d!! Has a lot more range in colors and amazing quality. UD vice is pretty nice too but has a lot of repetitive colors.

the UD irritates my eyes. The only problem I"ve had in the past with the KVD is some of the palettes supposedly used to have a cream in them and it never even contacted with my finger other than that I've had no irritation from them as long as you use your finger not a brush so there is no residue to irritate.

Full sized shadows?
I was wondering whether these shadows are full sized or not?

Yep! The palette is $55, and there are 24 full-size eye shadows (they're 0.05 oz. each, which is the same as the True Romance palettes.) So that'd pretty much be $2.29 per eye shadow. In the True Romance palettes, there are only 8 colors, and it costs $36 (which would be $4.50 per eyeshadow.) So, you really are getting a good deal!

I haven't bought any KVD shadows before so I can't provide a side-by-side photo, but from what I've seen in the stores these shadows are just as big as the shadows you'd find in one of her other palettes. This palette is like the size of a book!

I would use a fluffy blending brush in the crease, and some sort of flat, c shaped shader brush for the lid. They blend so easily, though, I imagine anything would work!

Any you'd like. The colors are versatile and all over the spectrum from dark to light. Many colors for highlight, lining, crease, etc all in this pallet. Use brushes as you'd see fit for any of the colors regularly in any other set! :) I've found the really shimmery ones look nice if you wet your brush beforehand.

really any eyeshadow brush will work. I use Sephoras Pro Shadow brush #14 for my eyelid and sometimes even for the crease/or a dome shaped crease brush. I like to blend with a clean brush after too. You can also use smaller, detail, brushes for the inner/outer corner of the eye to achieve effects you want.

I'm in my early 30's and I find this palette to be very appropriate; the sprakles arent too intense, more of a shimmer and they don't flake off on your skin.

No its a powder base but it has great pigmentation. If you are worried about it not lasting as long I can tell you right now thats not an issue. I own the palette and love it. But if you like the cream texture or look you can always get a cream eye shadow primer. I hope that helps.

The only shade that can be considered matte in this palette is Countess, which is the shadow in the bottom row, third column. It is a cream/off-white, and it looks matte but if you blend it out very sheer a slight sheen can be seen. All of the other shadows have noticeable shimmer or glitter.

There is no matte orange in this palette (there is a pretty one in the Ladybird palette though). That is not a matte white. It is Holy Bible and it is a metallic silver/white that has been in a few palettes.
