Clinique Superprimer Face Primer - Colour Corrects Redness

What it is: A color-correcting primer that preps the face for makeup application and wear. What it does: This lightweight, oil-free primer helps create a smooth, even canvas for foundation. It color corrects for a range of complexion concerns, especially redness, so makeup glides on evenly and stays true for a neutral, even start. What else you need to know: Which one to use depends on your skin. There’s a Superprimer for redness, dullness, discoloration, and sallowness. If you have more than one skin concern, we recommend using a Superprimer to address one issue and a foundation to address the other. If you simply want allover smoothing before foundation, try our Universal Superprimer, which preps skin beautifully for makeup. It is translucent, so wearing it alone is an option if you’re pressed for time, but for best results, team Superprimer with foundation for a flawless look.

I don't see the need to wear this if you don't wear foundation. If you are looking for redness correction there are other products that would work better.

I Have noticed this goes on clear and does not have a tint to it. I would recommend trying a tinted moisturizer if you are looking for color.

I love the look of this primer without foundation! It really evens out my skin tone and leaves my face looking smooth and soft. And don't let the yellow shade scare you, it disappears once applied.

The foundation that I am using tends to be too neutral.

I personally wouldn't mix this with a foundation. The texture would not lend itself to mixing well.

Question
Why does it keep on flaking off?
I am very disappointed with this product which I bough in-store. It makes my skin look extremely dry and it "rolls" and "flakes". It was so embarassing when my husband asked, "Why is your skin peeling?" I hate it and it if I could give it negative stars I would.

You may be applying too much product. I only use a tiny bit of this right after I moisturize so that it sets in better. I've found that if I apply too much, it starts to "roll off" when I apply my foundation.

It keeps flaking because it's junk! I too had nothing but issues with it.

I do not believe this is silicone based. It is completely opposite in texture of Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer or Bare Minerals Primetime as a comparison.

Question
What is the difference between this product and Clinique's Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base SPF 15?
They are both marketed as primers that help with redness, from the same brand. Does anyone know the difference? The only one I see is that this primer doesn't seem to have SPF. Anything else?

The daily protective base corrects with green. It also has a completely different texture and smell to it (not entirely unpleasant). It does not have the same silky feel as the Superprimer Face Primer, nor is it matte. If you are used to using a Smashbox-type primer (silicon based), then I would use the Superprimer.

If you need the SPF, then go with the daily protective base. I like it, but I do find I need to put a matte foundation over it or use a powder to tone down the shine.
