Question
Has anyone else had an allergic reaction after using for several weeks?
I've been using this with no problems until now. I woke up this morning with a really red neck that is itchy and a little swollen. It feels like my throat is swelling also. Not sure if this is the culprit though.

I used this for about two weeks before having an allergic reaction. I didn't use any products with it, only cleanser. My reaction was tiny blisters on my forehead and under my cheekbones down to my jaw. They did itch, as well.

No, I don't think this cream could make you have an allergic reaction, it must have been something else. But who knows :) I have very sensitive skin and love to is this about twice a week after my glycolic facewash. My skin feels so amazing the next day, no additional breakouts either.

No allergic reactions. I have very sensitive skin and have had rashes on my neck from switching shampoos, laundry detergent, & body lotion..never from this stuff.

I haven't tried this product but I've had a similar delayed-action redness reaction to a different product with bergamot oil. Bergamot is a type of citrus and my sensitivity to citrus comes and goes in terms of food and skin contact. You may find you can still use this cream on your neck or back of your hands even if it bothers your face. Also, you might just need a break from putting strong acid on your face so frequently. And the acid burn might be compounded if you're now dealing with lots of sunlight or strong wind or very dry air. In any case, it is unlikely to be the ceramides or most of the other ingredients that are causing your discomfort, and you would likely have no issues with a different ceramide formulation.

Thanks very much for your replies. I also thought there was supposed to be a protetive seal there. Before I posted my answer here, I asked the same question on the Dr. Jart+ US facebook page, and this was their response to me....I'm very confused now. "Dr. Jart+ US Hi Megan—thanks for reaching out! The Ceramidin Cream doesn't have a protective foil seal, but comes with a thin adhesive strip connecting the cap to the tube to ensure that it has not been opened. Let us know if we can be of further assistance!

Best,
The Dr. Jart Team"

Yes it does. You just turn over the cap and it has a point to pierce the seal of the tube. It's the best packaging for moisturizers. Keeps the germs out from sticking your fingers in it every day.

I've tried with and without the Ceramidin Liquid. If you are not using it with the Liquid, I suggest you use a different pat-on style toner/skin/softener and at least some serum. This cream acts like a barrier wall to lock in the moisture that you applied onto your face prior to the cream. I've tried different methods, and the best way to hydrate my face with this was to apply a softener, a hydrating sleeping mask like (Dr. Jart Water Sleeping Mask, then a thin layer of the Ceramidin Cream.

Question
Using with retinol - how to layer products?
I'm trying to decide whether or not to get the liquid to go with this cream and trying to figure out how to layer my products at night. If I use the liquid with it, I assume the liquid would be the first product on after cleansing but would I use the cream before or after my Tretinoin (the retinol product)? Right now, my routine is cleanser, witch hazel, B5 gel for hydration, hydroquinone to lighten red marks from prev. breakout, tretinoin, moisturizer, Dr. Jart sleeping mask to seal in the moisture. Advice?

I think you may be using too many products at one time (my opinion). You want to let individual products do their best work uninterrupted...especially something like a retin treatment (which you should be using at night...sun exposure is not good with a retin- can damage your skin). Think of your face like a crop...you want to feed and grow healthy skin, not bombard it. I recommend 'rotating' your products to see best results. Retins should be applied directly to the skin for maximum results while sleeping (after cleansing). I'm not sure if the sleep mask over this will dilute the retin or not. Be sure to use a mild, milky, non-foaming cleanser the next morning then tone, apply hydroquinone, then Ceramidin liquid, then Ceramidin cream. This will moisturize your skin and keep it from being too dried out.

I don't think it matters much what order you put on the ceramidin liquid and your chemical treatments, because the ceramidin liquid soaks in really fast. As for the ceramidin cream, I would put that on last (or before your sleeping mask if you still need it). For what it's worth, the ceramidin cream is far superior to the ceramidin liquid. If you are only going to get one, make it the cream for sure.

I started out using just the Ceramidin liquid a few weeks ago- both alone and under my regular moisturizer. Somedays your skin just doesn't need as much moisture, and I think you can just use the liquid on those days. It works that well! I just purchased the Ceramidin cream yesterday to see how it works over the liquid and it's incredibly hydrating and firming. Both together will give you a gorgeous dewy glow and I find that my skin looks very taught and firm when using both the liquid and cream together. For what these two products offer for skin repair, they are incredibly affordable. These two products can replace a lot of clutter in your cabinet. They really work.

The theory is that the Liquid product hydrates the skin, and the Cream product locks in that moisture and protects the skin from losing it. It's a bit of a gimmick, IMO, but I do love the products. However it's not necessary to have both. The liquid is a light moisturizer, so if that's all you need you might like it by itself. If you have very dry skin, it won't be enough for you and you'll need the cream (or some other heavy moisturizer) on top. The cream is fantastic for dry skin. If you only bought the cream, you might want to layer it over something light like a light lotion or a hydrating spray toner, but it could be something from the drugstore.

It's not imperative to have both, but if you have the budget to buy both of the ceramidin products, they do work well together.

Question
Is this product ok for 18 year olds?
I am 18, and I was going to purchase this cream in store but one of the beauty advisors told me that she doesn't recommend I use products with ceramide in them because I'm pretty young.
Does anyone else think this? I'm trying to get rid of some flakiness on my skin!

I definitely think this product is good for eighteen year-olds. I'm 22 and I love this cream. My skin is ok (one pimple "once a month", but no other problems) but DULL. This cream works well with my combo skin: it's thick enough for my dry patches but absorbs quickly enough for my oily places. This makes my skin glow: but NOT because it has little flakes of shimmer in it. It makes your skin glow because it gets rid of roughness and flakiness. Skin problems are skin problems, no matter your age. If this addresses the issues you're concerned with, then by all means try it! Maybe take a sample home first and give it a try for a week and see how you feel just to be sure? But I'm head over heels for this cream!

I found this product really effective. The reason I started using this is because I was just looking for a cream product that can hydrate my skin. But then one of my friend told me about this product and I bought it and I love it! After I put this on, I can feel that it is very moisturized and hydrated. I only use this product itself.
