Considering you can get some high end palettes for this price or for $10 more... no it's not worth it.

I think the price is worth it, I got dusty rose because it is a light color to start with and now I am ready to go bolder. Maybe start with the rose or a lighter color and build up!! BEST EYE-SHADOW I have ever worn!!

for me, if you love shiny, metallic shadows with the perfect amount of shimmer, and appropriate for all ages, this is a definite must-have!!! this product is very unique- i was a sephora store today with my mom, and after swatching several colors, i was stunned at the pigmentation and color-payoff- without any primer!!! i was hesitant to buy this product, because it is pricey, but after seeing it for myself at the store, i have already bought 2 in comex copper (one for back-up, that's how gorgeous they are), and one in vintage gold black- i got the last one in the store!!! to the people that say it's not worth it, if it's because of the small amount of primer that cones with it, you can use UD's primer potion or too faced shadow insurance in place of it, or even regular eye drops work!!! honestly, i have used these eyeshadows without any primer at all, with stunning results. for the people who think it is "cheap glitter", maybe it is the colors they chose, because all i know is i swatched 3 colors in-store today, and all of them were perfectly metallic, rich, creamy, and consistent in texture. the colors i swatched were comex copper, vintage black gold, and comex gold, all of which swatched beautifully- the comex gold was just a little bit too yellowy for me. i am super-picky when it comes to eyeshadows, and i also am a makeup artist with years of experience, so i know quality when i see it. this is a unique product, so for the people who are calling these shadows "cheap glitter", they probably honestly just don't know how to apply it. i can see how these shadows could turn into a chunky glittery mess if you don't know how to use them. a little goes a long way, and these shadows aren't difficult to apply, IMO. the trick is to use the shadow sparingly and lightly dab the product on your eyelids carefully, as you have to be somewhat precise with this product. i LOVE how you can control the intensity of the look you want by building layers, or by changing the amount if primer you use.
i really don't know how to respond to the people that think these shadows are trash- the only way i can see these shadows not working out is if you stick your finger into the eyeshadow, and try to swipe it over your eyelid, like you normally would with any other eyeshadow, and then rubbing your eyes so it gets all over your face. this is an extremely UNIQUE product, and you have to be delicate with it, and apply it differently than you would a normal eyeshadow. it's not hard, and the results are to die-for.
but don't take my word for it, stop by sephora and swatch these shadows for yourself. if you are looking for unique high shine metallic, rich, creamy, crease-resistant and long lasting shadows, then this is for you. if you are looking for something different and are willing to accept the fact that you have to apply these shadows differently with results unmatched by any eyeshadows out there, then these are it!! if you are not willing to put a little effort into a product well worth every penny (if you know how to apply it), then stick to what you normally use. go to a sephora store and try them out- see for yourself, these shadows are absolutely amazing.

If this a color you would normally use, then yes. For example, I always wear a gold and brown smokey eye when I go out to night clubs, I purchased this and love it.

I think it's worth it, but it is a very dramatic shadow so it's definitely not something you'll get daily use out of, such as you would with something like the Naked palette. So unless you have a real use for having super-shiney eye lids, you might want to skip it. I justified the price because I have several months of events that I would be wearing a smokey eye to anyway, and I really really really find the foil-like finish to be unique and worth the price.

I'm not sure about dupes, but the product is very glittery, way too glittery for me and I am someone who loves vibrant, shimmer, glittery eye-shadows. It's like when you do crafts and you sprinkle glitter onto a glue covered area, and you end up with glitter all over your hands and the area around you and it's nearly impossible to get rid of. That's what it was like for me, and it creased on me as well, even with eyeshadow primer, face primer and makeup setting spray [which was sprayed several times throughout the day to keep my makeup in place and freshen my makeup. The creasing would only be noticeable if I closed my eyes, so I can deal with the creasing. As much as I hate how much glitter ends up all over my face, I will purchase the product again, only because it looks amazing and makes my eyes stand out. If you can deal with the excessive glitter and the creasing then it's worthit, but if you can't, then I don't recommend it.

Nope. It looks nothing like the foil look of the ads. It's chunky glitter that looks like a 99 cent drugstore shadow. I did my first ever Sephora return. Great concept... wish it worked.

I've certainly never seen anything quite as shiny as this, so I would say this is pretty unique. It's not just a "metallic" eye shadow, as it does have some visible foil/glitter particles, but it's not a completely opaque foil finish. Having said that, this does come with a primer and a small blending tray, and a little bit really goes a long way so for the price, I could see this lasting for some time. I wore it the other day, and I had no problems with fallout or creasing until much later in the evening and after sweating so I would say the lasting power is great. I loved it! If you're not into heavy sparkle however, I would say give this a pass. If you are, give a more subtle color like the lavender a try and you will feel like a princess.

You should email Stila's customer support and send them your picture and mailing address. They will mail you a new one. They were really nice about it. They responded to me in less than a day. You should get what you paid for, right? In this case, they kept me as a customer.

I bought two at the same time and they both had different amounts of primer liquid. This leads me to believe that it just dries up really quickly. One of the bottles was actually completely, 100% dried out. :(

Yep, they all have less than half. You only need a TEEEENY amount of the primer (some use none at all) so it MIGHT last you. If it doesn't, though, I think Sephora is selling the primer alone now. I wish the bottle were more full, too, though.

Water will not work. In lieu of the liquid eye primer, you could likely use the "glitter glue" eye primer from Too Faced. That stuff is fantastic for holding my moon dust eyeshadow from Urban Decay.

You could also use the liquid from those Lorac Liquid Lusters. Or you could do a mix of the LL and the foil finish to make it extra glittery. The clear stuff in LL is the same consistency as in the FF and it's purpose is to hold the glitter on the lid, so I'm sure it would suffice.

Although its not sold by Sephora, Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy works, its only $7 I think and it lasts months -even with daily usage. A very little amount of it goes a long way for helping to secure highly pigmented or glittery eyeshadows. It also has very good longevity, you could go a 13 hour day with Pixie Epoxy on and your glitters will only be minutely disarrayed, at least in my experience.

Here are the ingredients of the primer:

Stay All Day® Liquid Eye Primer: Water, Polysorbate 20, Alcohol Denat, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Polystyrene, Sulfonate, C13-C16 Isoparaffin, C12-C14 Isoparaffin, C13-C15 Alkane, Inulin, Xanthan Gum, Methylparaben.

These are all mostly synthetic surfactants, meant to help the product apply and set on your lid. It might be best to email Stila directly to see if they'll sell replacement primers. For what it's worth, it takes half a drop to make a paste for two full applications, so the primer will last a very long time. You might want to try using glycerin, but I don't know if that would work as well.

Question
i am totally in love with these shadows, but was wondering what the best method of application people used to get the lower lash liner effect?
i have only applied this shadow on my upper eyelids, but i have seen pictures of, and read about people who also use this product to line the lower lash line. i was wondering how people apply the product to get that result, as i have no problem using my fingers to apply to my upper eye lids, but i think even my pinky finger might be be too big to get just a thin line under my lower lash line... any suggestions?

I wet a liner brush similar to this and it worked really well. You can get a finer line than using your finger.

I dip the very tip of my pinky or ring finger in to the product and then gently press it in to my lower lash line. I tried doing this with a brush and it just didn't work for me. I loved the result I got by just using my fingers. Just make sure to have a baby wipe or tissue near by to wipe off your finger afterwards so that you don't get any on your clothes.

Question
has anyone noticed a difference in texture, color pay-off, or quality in the different colors of this shadow?
i have this shadows in 2 colors- comex copper, and vintage black gold, and am totally in love!!! however, i see quite a few negative reviews, which i don't understand because these shadows are everything i could ask for from a metallic shadow- high shine, metallic, rich, creamy, long lasting, crease-resistant and uniquely gorgeous. is there anyone who has swatched all or most of the colors that have noticed any differences? thanks.

Ok, I just got the kitten color in today, so I can give you a more accurate answer this time. The kitten is definitely a completely different consistency than my comex gold. Rather than feeling and looking like flaky fish food in the pot, the kitten feels and looks more like just an ordinary sparkly cream shadow. It's still really pretty, but it's not nearly as thick as the comex gold and the color payoff isn't as amazing. It was a lot more sheer on my lids.

I have "comex gold" and am in love! I am going to buy "kitten" today. I was really confused by the negative reviews, too. I honestly think that people just aren't applying it correctly, or they are using a brush instead of their fingers. This eye shadow is everything I've been searching for in a glittery shadow my whole life! Just wish it was a tiny bit cheaper. I don't even use the primer that comes with it. I just lightly rub my ring finger on the pigment and then press it on to my lid without applying the primer. Then, I take whatever is left over on my fingertip and press that under my lower lashes to create an awesome glitter liner look. I've been receiving so many compliments!
