Question
Can I mix this with a primer?
Would I be able to mix this product with my favorite silicone like primer and use it that way or is it recommended that I mix it with a moisturizer?

I mixed mine (Fair Pink) with Miracle Skin Transformer in Medium and it worked great. I have combination skin and I am afraid mixing with moisturizer would be messy. And Fair Pink is a TINY bit light on me...but very close. Medium primer helped get the right color.

It would take alot of the primer to cover your face. And I don't know that the coverage would be even. I recommend using the primer first.

Yes, you can.
I mixed mine with Paula's Choice moisturizer and Becca matte primer and it worked better than I thought. I think you want to make sure you apply some on your face, still, as the concentrate (mine for this matter) did dry up pretty fast.

I found that this worked better with a primer than a moisturizer (too greasy) for me. The foundation becomes very buttery and blends well onto the skin.

this may not be super helpful to you as it is not sold through sephora, but I have tried many different moisturizers and primers with this and keep going back to Arbonne FC5 oil-absorbing day lotion with spf. The finish is fantastic. Light coverage, sunscreen, and my skin is glowing and dewy but not oily. I love it!

Olay Age Defying *Classic* Protective Renewal lotion with sunscreen (broad spectrum spf 15). First ingredient is water. Just make sure you wash morning of makeup application and exfoliate really well once every 1-2 weeks. Hope this works, Ciao

I think it depends on what you mix it with. I've tried to wear it with different moisturizers and with a fdtn. Everything seems to make my pores look huge. I did have some luck with Clinique Pore Refining Solutions though. I use it only over the areas with visible pores and without moisturizer on the area. Let it set and then do makeup. I did still have to blot but it was SO much better than the oil slick I had been.

For me, it covers my pores just fine. I don't have huge pores but there're enlarged pores on nose and cheeks, and they're all concealed. I think it depends on which moisturizer you use to mix it with.

I wear light pink beige, and I'm between a 2.0 and 3.5 in naked skin foundation (I have cool to neutral undertones). So, definitely go lighter than that.

Question
what am I doing wrong?
I want to love this, but I've tried it three times with two different oil-free moisturizers and got the same results. It streaks and doesn't look even and I'm not even done applying. If I try to go back and smooth it out, I get bare patches with clumped up, cakey spots around it. What am I doing that I can't get a decent result?

In addition to using a primer, you may want to try applying with a damp makeup sponge or Beautyblender. I often get bad results applying foundation with a brush or my fingers, but a damp sponge usually works for me. Hope that helps!

Question
Can this be mixed w/other fdts. to get more coverge?
I usually go for medium to full coverage fdts. I have some that are too sheer for me, but I don't want to throw away. Can I use this product to add more coverage, or maybe to improve the color, of those fdts.? Thank you.

Sure can! I sometimes need more coverage than my regular liquid foundation can give, and it works excellently. You can even mix with primer. Do stay away from mixing with oil-based products, or you may find your makeup sliding off or looking funny.

Yes it can as long as they are either water or silicone based, however you will run the risk of changing the color of the foundation which you won't want to do if it is a perfect match for you. But using this product as described with moisturizer will probably give you enough coverage without even wanting to try mixing it with a foundation

Question
Safety of Ingredients
I see that this states it is not to be used alone or with products that have glycol or salicylic acid. Is this all glycols? I use Josie Maran's moisturizer (from Sephora) and it has Caprylyl and Hexylene glycol. Is this safe to use or not? Thank you.

The foundation concentrate could interfere with any treatment in your moisturizer, especially if it is time-release or anything. You can, however, use your favorite treatment moisturizer and then mix the concentrate with a light basic moisturizer or primer or tinted moisturizer.

i found that when I even mixed it with something as simple as the aveeno moistuizer that contained SA it broke down the composition of the moisturizer which lead to it "clumping" on my skin. Tried a different one and it looked really streaky. I would suggest using a spot treatment if its simple, or all over treatment and letting it ABSORB into the skin and then using the most BASIC moisturizer, primer, whatever it is that you're using as a mix in with the pigment. You'll avoid break outs and over drying.

I have two colors that I mix! When I'm tan, the light-medium olive is perfect, but as I begin to pale it gets way too dark. I would just use a lighter shade in winter except that the light golden beige is too light and also looks a bit pink on my skin. I have both colors and its great because I can mix them however I need to; Maybe 3 parts darker color, 1 part lighter color at the end of summer/beginning of fall, then half and half as I get paler, then eventually in january/feb at my palest I would use mostly all lighter with just a little smidge of darker. I wasnt sure if I wanted to shell out the money initially to buy two, but it has worked out perfectly or me and it just means they last twice as long!

I would recommend getting the darker of the two shades you fall between. Since the product is designed to be used with your own lotion, you can add more lotion to sheer it out.
More things to consider: does your skin get considerably darker in summer? Get the darker shade. Or does your skin become lighter during winter? Maybe get the lighter shade if you expect your complexion to become more pale.
I find I can add a few drops of other foundations to make my color match 100% perfect. Good luck!
