How does this compare to the Makeup For Ever HD Microfinish Powder

Dior Airflash Matte Touch

What it is: An ultrafine mist that sets your makeup all day with a velvety matte finish. What it does: This unique spray technology delivers micronized powder particles that wrap the complexion in a soft veil and set makeup for sheer coverage that lasts all day. The formula is made with Matt’Smart Complex™, which smooths and perfects skin and absorbs oil, and Nylon-6, a smart fiber with unifying properties to soften irregularities. Kaolin clay also helps to eliminate shine for a perfect matte complexion every time. What else you need to know: This product comes in one universal shade suitable for all skintones.

Questions & Answers for Dior Airflash Matte Touch

Question
Primer or Setter
Is this product used strictly to set your makeup? Will it work well with "Other" foundations? Can it be used as a primer before foundation application?

This is a setting powder. The consistency is a very fine powder and I would not suggest using it UNDER anything like a foundation. Using it as a setting powder with other foundations (not the Airflash line) would be fine and likely work well still. Do not spray it directly onto your face as you will become patchy, directly into the brush works well or into a plastic cup works well too. I have this product and highly suggest it for oil absorption!

I think you can use it before or after your makeup. I use it at the end of my routine to set everything. I have also used it with other foundations, primarily my bare minerals and it works great with it.

It is a FINISHING Spray that sets your makeup for all day -which I LOVE. I use it a few ways:
1) I use the Dior CC primer , my Airflash 300 and and then spray Matte Touch 12 inches from my face very lightly- then apply my mascara.
2) I spray lightly in the T-zone on hot days to freashen up
3) I use with a kabuki brush - spray on brush and apply
I love the quality of Dior products - lees is truley more when you deal with quality- you can always apply more but always tougher to fix when you use a heavy hand with such Luxe products

This is not a primer. It sets your makeup like a powder would but it is not heavy like a powder. It has a soft color and gives you a soft airbrushed finish

I personally use the product two ways... Either:

1. Alone over CC cream or just concealer (on relaxed days)
2. On top of my Too faced primer and foundation.

For me the look can be heavy (yet flawless) when combined with too much product; however, everyone's skin and desired effect is different.

Question
Does this change the color of foundation?
I read elsewhere that this is a soft beige color. Will that alter the color of my regular foundation? Thanks.

I use the Airflash foundation in the lightest ivory 100 and found that this product did alter my underneath foundation colour and made my skin appear darker than I perhaps would have wanted it to. Any contouring I do (since I'm so light) disappeared under this product which was a negative side-effect for myself. Personally I wouldn't purchase this if I was picky about it changing my foundation shade since I can promise you it will even with a light application. (I use 6-8 small sprays into a plastic cup at most then blend it on my entire face and this is the smallest amount I can use to cover the whole area)

Not beige, more pinky-beige. It made my foundation a little darker, but it also seems to depend on what kind of moisturizer you use underneath...it seems to oxidize depending on the moisturizer and turn darker.

I use bare minerals foundation so I was concerned about the color like you were, and it did alter the color of my powder foundation because it was much lighter. I was almost shocked when I put it on and I just sprayed it on my t zone mostly.

I didn't find that it changed the color of my foundation. But to be fair, I'm African American. Maybe if you're extremely fair it might. But I don't think so. The spray goes on as a beige but then dries into a translucent matte finish.

We would recommend just applying this softly in a Z formation to avoid discoloring your foundation.

you dont really need a brush since its a spray on product.
i do however like to use my beauty blender or foundation brush just to smooth it out and make sure its blended in

I would recommend using a sponge or a beauty blender to blend it after spraying rather than a brush.

Question
coverage?
im interesting in this product because i have oily skin, but i wanna use it as a sheer foundation that i could use under my powder because i dont like heavy coverage, i like the coverage of the smashbox camera ready bb cream so im looking for similar coverage to that could you describe the coverage to me and compare it to the smashbox camera ready? and how much it would cover and what it would cover?

I tried using it like that and I found it to dry super powdery and not smooth out, and therefore not efficient for light coverage. Also, it appeared very orange on my skin.

If you have oily skin then you have to give this a shot.It really does the trick and its very light weight. The look is very natural and sheer.

This product is translucent. It will not provide any coverage, only a matte finish over the top of your foundation.

I just spray it on a kabuki brush and just buff it on my skin over my foundation. I found that this is the best way for a nice airbrushed look!

As soon as it goes on the skin it is a powder, the best way was to spray lightly across the face, it is an instant powder so a brush doesn't really work, you would be better off buying a compact powder instead of using this. Don't waste your time.
