This is a sunscreen. You will need to apply a moisturizer as a separate step.

This is a great sunscreen but is not moisturizing. I believe if you need a moisturizer you would need to apply it to your skin first, then use this very thin (just slightly thicker than water) sunscreen, then apply foundation if you wish.

I received a sample of this that lasted over a week, and it definitely serves the purpose of a moisturizer. I did not use any additional moisturizer while using this, and my skin stayed looking the same as when I use my Clinique or Caudalie products but had the added bonus of SPF.

You could certainly use this underneath foundation (and I have without any issues), but it isn't a primer in the sense that most primers are designed to hold your make-up in place longer as well as fill in little lines.

This is just a sunscreen to protect your skin from sun damage. It will not give you the benefits of a face primer under your makeup.

I use Retin-A several nights a week and have used this on my face with no sensitivity issues.

answer 2
yes absolutely the only thing you need to worry about with retin-a is not mixing any other chemical exfoliants with it because retin-a is very fragile and gets counteracted easily.

All I can tell you is that I have very acne prone skin and also very sensitive skin (prone to red rashes and irritation) and this product has neither broken my skin out nor caused a reaction. I'm always worried about breakouts, too, so I understand your concern.

Question
Compare to the older version of KS serum sunscreen?
I loved the old Kate Somerville spf 50 serum sunscreen. It was non irritating, did not run, didn't leave a film, never broke my skin out, and prevented sunburn. Of course they discontinued it. Does anyone know how this one compares to it? Thanks in advance!
