I have been using this for about a week following my retinol treatment at night. I dont have sensitive skin, but my skin gets dry in the wintertime and has been feeling tight after my retinol. I drop 3 drops in the palm of one hand and then rub my hands together and press my hands on my face, starting around my eyes, then cheeks, neck, forehead, chest and then nose and chin. The squalene sinks right in immediately, so there is reall no rubbing unless you missed some spots. It just sinks in and hydrates, but there is NO oily residue at all. Just perfect amount of hydration. I then follow with my normal moisturizer.
You can apply the same way before your retinol, if you have sensitive or extra dry skin. I havent done this because its working very well afterwards, while not seeming to dilute the effect of the retinol.

I usually mix ONE drop with my moisturizer. If I'm extra dry, then I'll pat on 1 drop to all my dry areas after retinol, before moisturizer. First time I tried it I applied 6 drops to my whole face and it was sticky and greasy until I washed it. Really 1-2 drops is all you need.
Apply this serum after your retinol but before your face moisturizer.
