Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+

What it is:A luxurious moisturizer that promotes smooth, healthy-looking skin. What it is formulated to do:The world has changed since Clinique first debuted Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, and it’s had an impact on our skin. Step 3 in Clinique's 3-Step Skin Care System, this moisture "drink" developed by Clinique's dermatologists maintains optimal moisture balance for very dry skin or comfortable to oily skin in the T-zone. With a new complex yet same silky texture and quick penetration, this lightweight formula strengthens skin's own moisture barrier by 54 percent and locks in essential moisture. It delivers twice the hydration all day, leaving skin silky-soft, springy, and absolutely radiant. What else you need to know:This was developed for Skin Types 1 and 2: very dry to dry, dry combination. For oilier skins (Skin Types 3 and 4), try Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel.

The older formula was slight thicker. This one is very light you don't feel it but you know you have it on and under your foundation.

The original lotion used to leave an oily film on my skin, but this one does not.

answer 3
The new formula is supposed to improve your skin's moisture retention and generally make your skin better at balancing its natural oils. I actually felt like the old formula helped my skin in that way. I just started using the new one, so I can't say if it's a whole lot better in that respect, but it does feel slightly dewier and is a little less yellow in color.

I think the new formula is easier to absorb and it keeps the skin moisturized for a longer time. P.S. It's a great pre-makeup moisturizer that keeps the look for the whole day! Hope it helps!

The difference is that the DDML+ has 2x the moisture of the original and has more ingredients to help strengthen the skin.
ps. DDMgel hasn't changed.

I've been wondering the exact same thing so yesterday, when I was at a Sephora, I tried out the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, Lotion, and Lotion + on my hands to compare.

The Gel and Lotion both seem really watery in texture. When you rub them on your skin, they dry clear instantly. The Lotion + seems more like a traditional lotion. It's denser and has a white cast that you have to rub into your skin, like any heavier lotion. I'm not sure, chemically, why this is happening.

I would say that if you've tried the Dramatically Different Gel and Lotion and find that neither is quite moisturizing enough and your skin still feels and looks dry, you could give the Lotion + a try. It's also different from Clinique's cult Moisture Surge Intense, which also seems more watery than lotiony.

I have a 4 oz. bottle. I only have to use 2 pumps in the morning, and if I remember at night, 2 pumps at night. I expect it will last quite awhile! The lotion spreads on really well, and lasts all day!

My 4oz bottles usually last around 4-6 months, depending on the season. When I get to the bottom of the bottle I scoop out the last little bit and put it in travel sized containers.

I use about two pumps, twice daily (so 4 pumps/day, more if I moisturize more than morning and night) and I would say it lasts me 4-5 months. It lasts a lot longer than you'd think.

I use it as a last step in my nighttime skincare routine, as well as a little bit in the morning before I apply my makeup for the day. Just a little pea size is enough to cover my whole face! It is a great basic moisturizer. Hydrating and not oily.

i tend to use it as an all over body moisturiser and a primer under my foundation if only wearing poweder. I usually pump about two small pumps about the size of my pinky nail and apply it to my face of a morning and night.

This moisturizer isbeing used as the last step after your regular skin routine, so cleanser, toner and serum. For your face you use 2-3 pumps max and just liberally apply it all over your face. It soaks into the skin very nicely.

If your skin in the winter drinks up moisturizers purchase two, large bottle for the home and the tub stays with you. Use on face and hands.

Question
Why is the second ingredient of this moisturizer Mineral Oil?
I don't understand how clinique can say they spent 6 years on this new formula when the second ingredient is Mineral Oil. How will that allow the moisturizer to sink in and do anything that helps the skin long term?

Not really sure about the 6 year claim, but I can say from experience that this gel seeps into the skin very quickly and beautifully "plumps" the skin, almost like a primer, so that makeup applies very smoothly. It's actually really nice! Perhaps the mineral oil formula they use has been altered in some way. Hope this helps! xo

I honestly do not believe that mineral oil is good for the skin at all! It's such a cheap oil and I know it wont help in the long run. I am really surprised that Clinique would put that in their moisturizer after saying that is is now better reformulated... Second ingredient? That can't be good. Mineral oil at all.. Not good in my opinion.

answer 5
Because the grade of mineral oil used in the beauty industry it actually non-comedogenic, and it helps keep the moisture from escaping from the skin. A quick google search explains this further.

I was surprised too because I was already breaking out from another lotion I was trying out, but after just one week of switching to Dramatically Different +, my acne is gone and my cheeks have become managably softer and smoother.

Next time your in the Clinique counter, ask to see the Clinique book. The book has all of the ingredients inside all of their products. I've asked for it plenty of times and always check before I buy any product; since my skin is extremely sensitive and acne prone. Hope this helps!

The second ingredient is mineral oil, which is highly problematic for acne prone skin. Mineral oil isn't healthy for regular skin types either. Paula's Choice.com has an ingredients list:Water, Mineral Oil, Glycerin, Petrolatum, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Oil, Urea, Lanolin Alcohol, Triethanolamine, Hordeum Vulgare (Barley) Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seedcake, Propylene Glycol Dicaprate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Trisodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Yellow 6, Yellow 5, Red 33.
