Smashbox Liquid Halo HD Foundation SPF 15

What it is: A foundation with light-responsive technology for an even, luminous finish. What it does: Makeup, reimagined: this foundation utilizes 100 percent Liquid Light Technology for a totally natural, radiant finish. The microscopic, gel-covered pigments mimic photo filters to blur imperfections. This HD formula completely evens out skin, but is undetectable to the naked eye. This oil-free foundation works with all undertones and builds from sheer to medium coverage.

I have an oily T-zone and this definitely has not slid off my nose and forehead, although it feels like it's going to when you first put it on, lol. Just be sure to set it with some translucent powder. For me that keeps it on all day. Smashbox sells some, but I use a different brand's

I have oily skin and liquid halo does make it worse. I used a finishing powder which helped. But be careful because if you have oily skin and add the foundation, it will not mix well. It looks like it doesn't want to stay to your skin and just swirls around. Use a good primer.

This product is actually oil-free and it has an SPF of 15 in it. You will be just fine. No worries :)

I bought it anyways and let me tell you, this did not slide off my face at all! Well with a primer that is and setting powder. Really love it.

I'm not sure, sorry. But it is oil free and I have acne prone skin so it's great for acne prone but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to oily skin. If you have oily skin and want a dewy finish I would put a translucent powder on lightly before this so it doesn't make your skin very oily

Google swatches. I've noticed that it goes on a little lighter than it looks, so I would probably do a 9.

Go with 8.b I didn't really pay attention to the color when I bought mine because all of smashbox's foundation blends very well.

Question
How does the coverage/consistency compare with Smashbox CC cream?
I use and like the Smashbox CC cream, though I am considering the Liquid Halo because I'd like more coverage. This is listed as sheer to medium coverage--how different is it from the CC cream? Would I be basically getting the same product?

The liquid halo definitely give you more coverage than the cc cream. If you are looking for more coverage than liquid halo is your girl!

Original poster here--I took the plunge and tried the Liquid Halo, and just wanted to reply to my own question in case someone in the future was curious about the same issue. I do find the two products very different (CC cream is lighter and mousse-ier, LH is lightweight but definitely is foundation and provides real, if sheer, coverage), but I also have found that I really like the CC cream as a primer underneath the Liquid Halo. I thought that would be too much coverage, but in fact it's very natural-looking, oddly more natural-looking than the CC cream alone. I now prefer the two together, even on more casual days when I don't "need" makeup. Both products are staying in my rotation!

I've used both products. This looks, feels and wears different. BB cream I use just for evening out skin when out running around. This one I use as true foundation. My color npmatched perfectly!

They are very different. The CC cream is a sheer color correcting balm to neutralize the appearance of dark spots. It can be used alone or under a foundation like a primer. The Liquid Halo Foundation will provide more coverage and even finish.

Question
Correct Shade Match With Halo Powder
I wear light/medium in the Halo Powder - which shade of this liquid foundation would be closest to that? I have fair/medium skin with pink undertones, if that helps. Thanks!

It's hard to predict what colour you are without actually trying the makeup for itself... If you are wearing light/medium in the powder, I would try a 3 or 4.. again I don't know your skin type so you'll have to make that call for yourself! Hope this helps :)

Question
Is the picture or icon for color more accurate?
I'm very pale, and the lightest shade looks about my color in the little boxes of different shades, but the picture that accompanies it when I click seems way too dark. Which is more accurate?

Im have pale skin and i ordered the second shade which turned out to be too dark.It looked as if i had applied a light bronzer all over.I tried the lightest color in store and it matched. Also the lightest shade is the same as smashbox F 1.1 studio skin

I have to say that I don't think I'm too fair skinned and the Sephora consultant used the lightest shade on me (number 1). I was surprised because I have never needed the lightest shade but she told me that it had a very yellow base. I wouldn't suggest you get this foundation if you think you're very light skinned.

Always try to check in store first, if you can. Often times, product depictions differ on the web vs. in person. The great thing is that you can exchange the product, even if it's opened and been used, with the receipt at your local Sephora. They've got a great return policy.

If you know your skin's undertones and are relatively confident in the choice you're making, chances are you'll have a good match. Me personally, I hate making two trips and I'm picky about face products, so I try to do in-store evaluation and testing before purchasing.

Yes. There is no white cast with flash photography and the formula somehow blurs your skin to look flawless but natural.

I wore this foundation to take family Christmas pics this week and got no flashback from it. Smashbox creates makeup for models and photoshoots, so the idea was to create a foundation that you could wear on camera without shine and flashback.

I'm not sure of what kind of photography you mean, but my best guess would be yes. I have used this foundation as my base for many shoots (I'm an actress), and it shows up very well on film and in professional photos. Absolutely gorgeous!

Question
Would this be good for dry skin?
I have pretty good skin - but very dry! My skin sucks up foundation like crazy- even with a good primer. Even Studio Skin which is supposed to hydrate is not "moist" enough. How does this compare?

I would definitely say this foundation would work for your dry skin. It has a silky, hydrating texture. I am typically considered a "normal" skin type, but I do have some dry spots especially now that we're coming into fall weather. This feels great on my skin and doesn't get sucked up or patchy by any dry areas.

I too have dry (and sensitive) skin. I tried this as a sample and found that as a positive, it certainly didn't cause any drying, unlike many other brands, but it wasn't the best I've tried. It didn't have a very smoothe finish and was actually the first time I've found something that was too sticky and wet. I found Bobbi Brown to be much better, and would definitely suggest that over smashbox.

Question
color/shade?
I love reading all of the reviews--and I order alot online---for reasons--(hard for me to get out)----They always write a review---but NEVER seem too leave the color they find perfect for them----I mean the eye color, skin tone, age etc..is asked----maybe 1 of the questions about the reviews--on ALL products should be. (the last one) -what color was your match? That would REALLY help for alot of us that can't get out much-and shop online----think about that? Love you Sephora---just putting my 3 cents in---haha

I would suggest number 4 or 5. But I cannot recommend to you enough that you go into the store and test them out for yourself. Because this foundation is very weird when it comes to choosing a shade. They are a lot darker in person that what they look like online. I hope this helps!!

I like the Liquid Halo, especially its coverage, because it is so natural looking, but it had a white caste, and not enough color ranges for pink-based paler people, more for those with yellow-based skin tones.
It is a beautiful foundation, it just didn't work for me because of the limited shade range.
