I also use a retinol product and this foundation did not help. It clings to dry spots.

Yes. I have dry skin and it works amazingly on my skin. Of course, I have face lotion and primer on and it feels good on my skin.

There must be something about the "gel" as it just glides on like silken water. I would say that this foundation could honestly work with any skin type. I live in Colorado and dry skin is the norm, and I am loving this foundation.

No. I get very dry skin and this did not help. It is a gel formula foundation, which typically isn't the best for dry skin. It really emphasized my dry spots and fine lines.

NO! I used to love this foundation but then I started a retinol routine which dried me and this was awful. It turned patchy and peely, definitely would avoid if you have dryness.

Question
Coverage? Finish?
What kind of coverage can I expect with this foundation?
Although, it claims that coverage is buildable (from natural to full), this is rarely true of any foundation.

Also, I would love someone to explain, in their own words what type of *finish* this foundation's has.
Thanks!

is very light almost sheer but it is buildable. not to a full coverage but to a medium.

And the finish is a radiant, not too dewy, natural skin like finish.

I think it's one of the most natural finishes you will get if you get matched correctly. Gives a dewy natural skinlike finish. Coverage is abut medium but buildable. It def won't look cakey

The finish is literally a gel. It's like squeezing Aloe Vera on your face and letting it dry. Although, it does give you moisture, it's not the good kind. It made me look greasy and I have combo to dry skin. The foundation is not buildable either. It goes on very very very light and as you try to build it makes you look greasy without it actually adding more coverage. I would try a water based foundation. Those tend to build exceptionally well.

I haven't used this product very long, but I did like the finish. It looked dewy and moist, but not slimy. More like healthy and hydrated. Be aware, this product does not have an SPF so you'll need to wear one underneath, and I haven't tried that so I can't speak to the finish when worn over an SPF.

I felt that it could've given me a natural finish, but I built it up more in discolored areas and it covered almost fully. It didn't cause my spots to totally disappear, but it was pretty close.

But I think it made me break out, so I don't use it now.

You can definitely build, I usually do it in steps.
1. Primer
2. Concealer
3. Foundation
4. Setting Power
5. Finishing Spray.

I tried it where I applied the concealer after the foundation and it felt like the product was moving. When using the concealer first your foundation has something to stick to.

I have dry skin and I love this foundation! all you have to do is moisturize and prime prior to application and you will be good to go. Also if you have dry patches try cleansing your face to remove dead skin and apply moisturizer focusing in the driest areas of your face. And use a hydrating primer, and voila!

My skin is combination but my forehead is dry and this covers with no problems and doesn't accentuate dry patches. I has a slightly radiant finish, not oily or shiny, so dry areas will look hydrated.

Ive tried this stuff and it is not a friend to dry skin. You might consider a more hydrating foundation as this will cling to dry patches.

Question
Does 10 Ivory Light have pink undertones or yellow?
I'm absolutely pale and need a very light foundation. I currently wear the Naked by UD in the lightest colour (0.5) and it's still too dark for me, especially after it oxidizes. I can usually hide it with a high neckline and scarf since I don't have a new foundation yet and can't go without it, but I'm looking for a lighter shade for the winter. However, all of the lightest shades I can find are either too dark or extremely pink. I heard the 10 has yellow/neutral undertones. Can anyone confirm this for me?

I am very pale as well, but wiith pink undertones. UD .05 wasn't even an option for me either lol. The lightest shade in Marc Jacobs matches me well. Siberia from Nars is amazingly pale as well but is very yellow on me, might be good for you to give a try if you want more yellow :)

I don't think that the lightest shade of Marc Jacob's foundation is lighter that UD's 0.5. Nars Sheer Glow in "Siberia" and Bobbi Brown in "Alabaster" are super pale with neutral undertones, they are the lightest shades in Sephora (not counting Illamasqua "white").

I have very fair skin and also have used the Naked by Urban Decay in the lightest shade and also found it to be too dark. I have found the 10 Light Ivory to have neutral undertones that are a great fit on my ultra pale skin, I wouldn't say its yellow or pink, just very very light and neutral.

Question
brush?
Is the brush sold to go with this really the best? I got a sample today and was checking ou the brush and the price tag. The SA said he atually preferred a more flat, traditional style brush for this type of formula. Of course,I pitched my brush like that a while back after it sat unused for years. I have about 3-4 ,at least other foundation brushes including a fluffy one like the mj one. I eventually will shell out for the mj one if it is the best finish. But,i dont want to buy two brushes or any if not necessary. My beauty wish list is long..it just got longer with the foundation and to add the brush..ugh.:) Honest opinions are appreciated.

When I got my makeup done by my makeup artist, she used this brush (or a brush with a very similar shape and feel) and it was applied beautifully. I haven't gotten mine yet and I had sort of the same question but I think it really would be the best for this foundation, seeing as it is made by the same brand as the foundation. If you watch the videos on this foundation, you see the guy use the brush and it looks really nice and blended. :)
I hope this helps.

We recommend trying the foundation with the brushes that you already own and see how they apply the foundation. If the brushes you already own do not achieve the finish you want, we recommend investing in the Marc Jacobs Foundation Brush.

I would really go into Sephora and have them do a color match on you. After you know your number, you can then match shades that are lighter or darker to adjust for seasonal changes.

Question
Are there any other foundations that match the colour Ivory light (lightest colour)
It would appear i have found the perfect colour match. I am very (VERY) fair and have struggled for years to find the perfect foundation colour to match my skin. The colour Ivory light is perfect for me (the lightest shade), however, the foundation itself doesn't seem to hold up on my combination (very oily in the T-zone skin). I use this with urban decay all nighter setting spray, however by the end of the day the foundation is disappearing in places and slidding off. Is there anyone who can recommend a colour match to the shade ivory light in a different foundation? Preferably something that controls shine but won't dry the skin out? Thank you to everyone for taking the time to read this! :)

I am also very fair. I do not have pink or yellow tones; I would say that I am a true alabaster color and must have a very light color when it comes to a foundation. I purchased the Marc Jacobs '10 Ivory Light' and it is perfect! I love how smooth my face feels and looks.

Hi There! According to the Sephora Color IQ, you are a 2Y01. When you plug in that number, you will find there are 17 product matches. You can then filter by your skin type and whether you like a luminous or matte look, a liquid or powder, light or full coverage, etc. If you have not used their Color IQ system, type in "IQ" in the search box at Sephora's website and you can then plug in that number 2Y01 to find all of the matching foundations. I hope that helps! By the way, your skin sounds beautiful!
