Questions & Answers for bareMinerals READY™ 8.0 Power Neutrals

Question
What are the colors in this palette?
What are the exact colors in this? I'm also looking at the Bare Escentuals website and they look like completely different colors for the same palette.

There is more than one of these palettes so you may not be looking at the same one. I saw at least 3 different ones at Sephora. I got the Sexy Neutrals. There was another one I looked at that had green in it, but with blue eyes I never wear green eyeshadow!

The colors are all neutrals - greyish-greenish-taupes - light, medium and darker. Perfect for green, brown and blue eyes. Can be combined to make other colors and used wet to become more dramatic for evening wear.

I don't know why Sephora doesn't list the actual colour names (not just for this palette but for quite a few) but the names are: Boss Lady, Money Maker, Schmooze, Boardroom, Exec, Payday, Magnate and Get Ahead (clever takes on the whole "corporate power" idea). And the others are correct - the colours do look quite different than pictured but that is often the case with online pictures and swatches. This is a fabulous palette with classic colours.

The colours are a lot "cooler" toned than many of the online photos I've seen would suggest and also WAY different than they look on the sticker on the back of the palette. My favourite colour - 2nd from right on top row - is described as "bronze sheen" but to me, seeing it in real life, it's a very silvery taupe (which I love). Hope this helps.

I also found the colors to be different. I will tell you, I tried it because I am a huge fan of natural eye palettes, but even using the amazing UD eyeshadow primer these colors went muddy on me in a couple of hours. I tried different combinations for about three days and finally just returned it. Was very disappointed in this palette.

KVD or Bare
I am highly sensitive period to whatever I put on my lids. How does this brand compare with Kat Von D's as far as irritation goes. I know hers are made with very good ingredients. I have never tried Bare Minerals before.

Bare Minerals are made without fragrance and are hypoallergenic. They only use minerals so they don't irritate. I too have terrible allergies and also wear rigid gas permeable contacts which make what I put on my eyes very important. I can wear BareMinerals, Clinique and Tarte with no problems. Clinique is really terrific for sensitivities. If you have an allergic reaction they actually remove the product from the market and test to try and determine the cause of your reaction. BM uses so few ingredients that the likelihood of a reaction is very low. I reacted to a brush which was made from goat hair. The Rep at BM helped me determine that it was the brush. After we did, she sent me complimentary soft focus brushes which are synthetic. BM makes fabulous products that are top of the line! Try it, but make sure you use primer.

I have extremely sensitive eyes. I could only use Clinique before this. I took a chance and I have not had a problem yet with these shadows.

I also have sensitive skin. I've used BE products for at least 8 years and have never encountered any problems with sensitivity. BE products are the only products I put on my face/neck....simply fantastic formulas.

A lot of brands use Bismuth Oxychloride in their products and it is highly irritating to some people. I don't know about their shadows but I do know that Bare Minerals uses it in their foundations, it is what gives that glowy effect.

Yes, it comes with a little booklet that has detailed drawings and instructions for 3 looks (I forget the names and the booklet is upstairs). Suffice to say, the illustrations are clear and so are the directions (unlike some of the cards that come with Too Faced palettes, that are more "cartoonish" and vague).

All of the BM products last longer when you use a primer. In fact they are designed to be used with a primer. When I don't use one they last 6 hours or so. When I use a primer I get 12 hours minimum, so the primer really does make a difference! You can use BM primer or whatever brand you normally use. I do BM or Clinique.

This shadow stays on all day for me and there is almost no glitter fall out. The consistency is very fine, which I think adds to the long-wearing nature of this shadow.

Question
Do you offer any shades that are all matte?
I have realized that as I age I cannot wear those shiny, shimmering, glittery shades. They just make me look older and accentuate my wrinkles and fine lines.

In the duos there are several matte choices. Some of the loose singles are matte as well, but the duos are your best bet.

The colors in this palette offer both matte and shimmery colors. But the shimmery colors are very pretty - can be worn in the daytime. I'm 40 and I wear them all the time. Lasts all day too.

My middle aged lids can't abide glitter either, but I like this palette. 5 of 8 shades are matte. Only "Schmooze" is frosty, which you can tone down with a matte shadow. There are 2 shimmery shadows that are more of a refined sheen, not glittery.

I don't think so - I just bought this palette and the back of the box states states the names of all of the eyeshadows in the palette. The colors are: boss lady, moneymaker, schmooze, boardroom, exec, payday, magnate, and get ahead. Definitely worth your money! Beautiful professional but sexy colors with lots of pigmentation. Hope this helps!

I can't answer that as this was the first BM quad that I had purchased and I don't have it anymore to make a comparison, but when I applied the shadows, the colors were NOT true to how they were in the pan. Not a bit. They tended to be more greenish and they also did not last long. I returned this palette within a week.

Question
Does this set contain gluten?
I have Celiac's disease (autoimmune response to gluten) and was recently warned by my doctor about makeups that can fall onto the mouth during application. If it does contain gluten, are there any other eyeshadow products carried by Sephora that are gluten free? Hourglass is great for gluten free face makeup.

No. None of Bare Minerals products contain wheat or gluten. They are all mineral based. If you ever have any questions regarding any BareMinerals product you can email the company directly at BareMinerals.com. They will answer everything you need to know about their products. They helped me determine that I was allergic to animal hair brushes, so now I just use soft focus which are synthetic.
