Questions & Answers for Dior Instant Gentle Cleansing Oil

Question
How do I use this?
I got a deluxe sample, and there are no directions.

I am new to the "cleansing oils," so I was wondering how are they used. Is this to just remove make-up? Or is this something you keep in the shower and use as a facial cleanser? Also, do I have to wet my face first, or do I have to apply this to dry skin with a cotton ball?
So far I have been using it with an already wet face it the shower, and it smells and feels really nice, but I have a feeling I am not using it correctly. I'd love to buy a full size bottle, but I want to try to use it correctly before zi decide.
Thanks in advance for the help and tips! :)

this is not a true oil cleanser. those can be hard to remove and i feel they leave a film behind. this is more a regular cleanser. i've tried both ways, dry face and wet face. i see no difference. maybe not in the shower since it'll to wet to give it a chance to rub in. i've just wet my face a bit and that seems to work ok. if you are removing makeup always use a cream cleanser first and remove that with a cotton pad. then use this.

I use it as my only cleanser. Dior's is a bit less oily than most, so probably a good intro to oil cleansing. Wet your face then squirt 1-2 squirts on your hand and rub in little circles. The just rinse and finish with your toner and moisturize. It leave my skin very refreshed, doesn't even need a toner to remove excess oil.

This oil works as a makeup remover, however you rub this oil onto dry skin instead of wet skin. After massaging over your face, take some water & rinse. I find I need a lot of this product in order to remove my makeup, and even then I don't think it removes all my makeup. I tend to use a separate eye makeup remover before or after using this cleansing oil. Try Boscia's Makeup Breakup instead!

Apply the product to dry skin with circular motions. Wet face and massage product into skin with circular motions, removing all traces of makeup and dirt. Rinse face and pat skin dry.

I use at night to remove all make-up and make my skin feel fresh. You can actually just put some on your palms, rub them together, and begin massaging any make-up away. It's a great cleaner for the eyes as it does not irritate at all. Sometimes I barely moisten my hands with water before squirting this on my hands. I washes clean and easily. Lovely fragrance.

I've always applied cleansing oil to dry skin, lightly rubbing in a circular motion. When miniscule pieces of grit can be felt (actually beads of makeup removed), add water, massage a bit more, then rinse.

Question
seperate cleanser?
I got this because I read somewhere that if you wear sunblock, you should remove it with a cleansing oil and follow with a regular facial cleanser. The reviews are mixed it seems and in the two times I went to the store, one SA agreed with what I read and the other said just to use this. I have combo to dry skin..mostly dry at this point and I dont want to overstrip my skin or leave it to breakout . Help! Im so confused here! Is this just sunblock/makeup remover or does it stand as a remover and cleanser?thanks for any advice!

whenever i have to remove something extra i always do two steps, a cream cleanser that i wipe off (and then rinse) and follow that with a more "soapy" one. this is a good one for step two

I have not specifically used it to remove sunblock, but I do use it at night to remove all of my makeup. It powers through the hardest to remove mascara - so I can't imagine that it wouldn't work on sunblock. It's very gentle on the skin - but very powerful results.

I actually own both of these, and would say I like them both for different reasons. It is completely different from Josie's. It is very light, not sticky and no "warming."

personally I returned this cleanser because it was so poor at removing my makeup. I would cleanse(2-3x) and then swipe with toner and makeup residue was still showing up on my cotton pad...

Personally, I don't like it that much. I'm coming to the end of mine (finally!) but I'm using it because of the price tag - I couldn't bear to give it away & I'm not one to throw things out. I thought it was just OK. It will definitely burn your eyes, which I don't like considering it's supposed to be a make-up remover. Try the Boscia Make-up Break-up instead!
