I just started using this foundation, I love it. I set it with a translucent powder, and I also use Urban Decays De-Slick setting spray when I am extra oily. I am not a fan of primers right now, I haven't found one that doesn't break me out.

I never use primers. I don't like them because most of them are silicone-based and that is a no-no for oily, breakout-prone skins like mine. I do however use powder because I prefer a matte finish. I find that the best way this works for me is by putting it on it with a damp Beauty Blender and then dusting Nars' Ligh Reflecting Loose Setting powder on top to set it. It's a very good foundation and it does not look cakey.

I use Laura Mercier primer because it is formulated without silicone so it doesn't make me greasy. I don't think that you need to use a primer though, but it does help make things "smoother"

I always use primer and powder, just because it makes the foundation stay put longer. I would recommend Benefit Dr. Feelgood as a lightweight primer and Sephora powder as a finisher.

You could use a primer. I have used it with many primers and without one. I have not found the foundation to melt off without a primer. I do use the sephora 8 hour mattifying compact as my setting powder.

Question
I have dry skin, do you have the same thing for people with dry skin?
I had my skin color checked with your new machine tonight. I am trying to decide on which foundation to buy. I have dry skin. I wanted the sephora product because it is cheap and has great reviews, yet will it be ok with dry skin?

I have extremely dry skin as well. With a good moisturizer and possibly a primer, depending on how bad your skin flakes it should be fine. While I was on accutane I used this the last 2 months of my treatment, when my skin was flaking and extremely sensitive and it never looked bad or flaked off. I would imagine if I did not apply at least some sort of moisturizer, it may flake slightly. But I have even found now with my skin being just dry and no more accutane, utilizing a setting powder with this foundation (sephora 8 hour mattifying compact) it provides a really nice not too matte finish and doesn't overly dry the skin. Hope this helps.

Short answer: yes, this foundation can be just fine for dry skin. The answer is going to be with your skincare, not your makeup. Rather than thinking about a foundation for dry skin, you really need to be getting the right hydration from your moisturizer (and/or primer). For dry skin, there are a LOT of great moisturizers that will be deeply hydrating even without having a heavy feel. Some great ones are Caudalie Vinosource Sorbet Creme and Dior HydraLife Sorbet Creme. A sorbet texture often means it will feel non-oily but still provide the hydration that dry skin needs. If you have a favorite moisturizer but want to try a different primer for extra hydration, Smashbox has a specifically hydrating primer, and Make Up For Ever has their HD elixir which helps the skin keep hydration in. For a really good budget-friendly option, look at Sephora's own skin care line! It's even good for sensitive skin. There's a moisture serum and the Instant Moisturizer Intensive is also going to help you stay hydrated--and both products are under $25 each. I hope this helps you, and good luck!

I am very light and I use the 20 Light Cream (Y), but it definitely needs layering for good coverage (I have acne, and wear layers when I want to look put together....thin later for daytime). If you actually want heavy coverage (what I use to go for), you can try the line of CoverFX at Shoppers. It's dermo recommended. But for medium coverage, I really like this product.

This is not full coverage. i have light skin but my cheeks are rosy which I cover up. It covers light imperfections, especially with the help of concealer underneath but is not full coverage. It is however buildable.

Question
How long does this foundation last?
I was wondering how long people who bought this got it to last, including how often they wore the makeup for the amount of time it lasted. Like five days a week for a month or two? That kind of thing. :3

I've had mine since November (it's mid Feb now) and the bottle doesn't seem to be close to empty....but I only use a thin coat on most days and do not use it when I'm home. Unless you're using multi-layered coverage daily, you can expect to get a few months out of it (from my experience).

Personally I think this product could go either way. Since I too have more combination dry skin, I think it works rather well. Not overly drying, has great coverage.

I think this would be great for combination skin. I am oily and I felt comfortable wearing this. It didn't give my skin too "radiant" or "luminous" a finish--which often translates to "shiny," especially if you're naturally oily. It has a "NATURAL" finish, which means that it's designed to look like "your skin but better": even in color and tone without looking either too radiant or too powdered. It will not dry out your skin, so it's fine for the dry or normal areas of your face, and it's still going to wear well on the oilier areas such as the T-zone. Using the right primer (or moisturizer) is also key but the foundation on its own would be good for any skin type, I feel.

It is! As long as it fits your skin tone, it should be good. It's pretty matte and with a setting powder you won't have a problem. I've used this on friends and myself and my skin always looks fine.

I have really dry, even toned skin with maybe the occasional cyclic pimple here and there. I recently purchased this product and I did not use any primer. It did a wonderful job at covering any imperfections and didn't settle into any lines. However, I put moisturizer on daily so I did apply my foundation over that.

You can use sephora's color iq online. It asks what brand, product and shade you currently use. Then gives you a selection of products that are a good comparable color.
