I would assume brighten the skin is referring to spots, whether, sun spots, or acne scars. An a more radiant complexion refers to helping to give you skin that glow from within.

Question
Vit C Source and Sensitivity
I'm allergic to Ascorbic Acid (if I eat , I get hives); however, I can use different variations of it. I just got a small hive /like rash on my skin and am trying to figure out if its from the radiance serum or the calming serum or something else ? I know FAB has an awesome reputation. Just wondering if its ok or I should pass given my allergy?

Try using one of those products at a time to see which one is giving you the reaction. You can't really tell if you're using two new products simultaneously. The vitamin C used in this serum is not straight ascorbic acid, it's tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate.
