I use mine on the lower lash lines because my eyes are too small to use on the waterline. My line comes out a little crooked sometimes because my eyes are deep set but it stays on great which never happens for me.

It is a soft pencil and blends quite nicely....just don't leave it too long or it sets in quickly!! I found it set fast and smudged it between the lashes to make for a smokey look easily...

Yes, and it does NOT need to be sharpened to work in the waterline. In fact, I have found that it fills the waterline better if it ISN'T sharpened, so (since sharpening is a bit of a hassle) I have started using my MJ liners exclusively for waterline work. Once you do your waterline, try to keep from blinking for about a minute to let the liner "set up." I have found that it then lasts for up to 12 hours… and no smudging!

I will say I have not successfully used this on my waterline. I tried and perhaps it is the texture, because it is a gel crayon liner but I didn't like it. I could feel it on and ultimately, it made my eyes water. I love Makeup Forever liners for my waterline.

What you want to do is twist off the bottom "self sharpener", then twist the pencil so you can sharpen the eyeliner and insert it in the cone looking end of the self sharpener...I would twist it a little bit at a time so you don't lose too much product in the sharpening process. Because the eyeliner itself is on the soft side, unlike other pencils, I rarely need to sharpen it though.

It's soft enough that it doesn't need a sharpener. Try using it at an angle when you apply it and it will keep an edge, though not as well as how it initially comes.

I don't think it's meant to be sharpened- metal tube eyeliners are generally described as "self-sharpening" because they wear away on their own. To make it easier to apply, smudge some of the eyeliner on the back of your hand before applying.

I just barely make it rise above the edge of the top because the eyeliner is so soft and meant to smooth on with little pressure to it. If you are looking for a finer line, I would suggest a different eyeliner which you can sharpen yourself instead with a built in one.

The "purple" isn't really purple… it's more of a rose color. The picture is deceptive. I own it, and I like it, but my eyes are blue-green. I can only use it with a few shadows, though, because the color is a bit "off." The brown would probably be more versatile… though since I don't own it, I can't say for sure.

answer 6
You need to turn the dial to expose the tip of the liner, a little more than an 1/8 of an inch or just under a 1/4 inch. GENTLY, remember this is a gel crayon, place the tip of the liner into into the sharpener and turn it clockwise. It takes a few turns and then pull it out to check your progress. It will not achieve a thin, long sharp point. It will be more of a short, stubby point.

You have to twist the liner up and then it will fit into the tiny end of the sharpener, but be advised it does not sharpen well. I wasted some product trying to get a sharp point but failed...

Question
racoon eyes?
this doesn't smudge ON my upper lid. but I do find that part way through the day I have dark smudges UNDER my eyes - its not my mascara, that hasn't changed and it doesn't happen if I don't wear eyeliner. I think you would need to use a quality eyeshadow primer, which can be put on the upper lid and along the lower lash line. Some people also suggest using a finishing spray, like the all-nighter one from Urban Decay.

I have a trick that I use for all my eyeliners and seems to work for this one too, I buy an eyeshadow that is the same or a similar color and after I apply my eyeliner i dust the top of it with the eyeshadow. Holds it in place and makes it last longer. I got the idea after taking a theater arts class and saw how they apply baby power over their stage makeup.

I loved this product, but the raccoon eyes are indeed an issue. I have also noticed that even when I take off my eye makeup, the next morning I have dark spots under my eyes. This does not happen on the days when I'm not wearing this liner. I've actually stopped using it, even though I gave it a good review. It's a shame, because I love how easy it is to apply.

If you wear eye cream you can get a little oily under the eyes, oil is what usually takes off water proof products. I always set my under eye products with a little MUF powder. Another trick you can do tap a little eye shadow over the gel liner to help it set faster.

Hi, I don't think it could be sharpened. It comes up w/ a twist. It isn't sharpened to a point therefore it's not great for tightline. You can get pretty close to the lashline though. I absolutely love it! One of the best liners I've come across in years.

answer 2
No, you can't use a regular liner sharpener. As it's not a wood liner. It's a twist-up liner versus a wood liner so you only refine the point with the accompanying sharpener. I use another liner for controlled line detail on my lid and use this Marc Jacobs gel liner only on my waterline. I find it too soft and not precise enough for a crisp line on my lids. I would use it for a heavy wet lid look or a blended blurred-out liner for a heavy dramatic eye.
