Questions & Answers for Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée

Question
is the poppy more orange or pink?
I'm pretty pale with coffee brown colored hair so any color on my face always stands out. I look good in coral pinks, but the way it looks here looks like it is really orange. I want to make sure it isn't too orangey for my face as I want like a softer rose pink, but I am afraid the next step up would be too dark for my face. Suggestions?

I was worried that poppy would be too orange as well, but that wasn't the case. It is a nice coral-pink, more on the pinker side than you would think.

I have the Poppy Paradise and it definitely looks orange in the pot. However, it is the most beautiful coral color. I would compare it to Orgasm by Nars but better.

It's more of a pinky-orange than an orangy-pink, if that helps. It goes on quite pink. I have fair skin, green eyes and blonde hair, and I can't wear oranges at all, and this looks great on me (if I do say so myself) lol

This is not glittery or sparkly at all. It just gives a natural glow to your cheeks. Color is very buildable. I recommend using a good quality brush -- it makes blending super easy!

It's a sheer wash of color, almost but not quite a sheen. There's absolutely no glitter or sparkle, but it's a sheer wash. It's beautiful!

I am a redhead with fair skin and the Poppy Paradise is my favorite. It looks adorable on lips, too. In the shade photos above, it looks more orange. It definitely goes on as a bright warm pink, not orange or coral. Pink escape is great too, but the poppy is more flattering for me with having a pink undertone. It blends really easily over my tarte BB cream.

Depends on what color you like more. I am fair but a blonde. I originally tried on Poppy and bought it but it was a little to coral for me so I bought the Pink and I wear the Pink with Poppy over it sometimes. These would probably be the best bets for you. The others were too red, brown, orange or purple.

I have brown hair & eyes w/ fair skin and usually wear pink shades of blush. I bought this in Poppy Paradise, which was too warm for me, so I would try Pink Escape. The gel is lightly pigmented and blends easily, but did leave an oily sheen on my face & I have oily skin so I returned it for that reason. And it does stain in your fingers a bit.

I watched a review after I realized the color was super sheer when applied with my fingertips.
She suggested using a stippling brush and blotting the cheeks with it.
It brings out a lot of the color and a little goes a long way!

I saw on the reviews that a couple of people said that it smeared or removed their powder or foundation when they put it on over that. So as a tip from someone who has read the reviews of those who have used it, put the blush on first, then whatever powder you are using.

I'm no expert, but I'd say that this product would work best over a liquid base, tinted moisturizer, or bb or cc cream. I would not use it over powder. And I'd think that using it first and then applying powder base would just cover it up.

I generally wear liquid foundation and apply this blush afterwards. I have also applied additional blush after powdering my face. So although I think it's better to use before powder, it doesn't have to be done that way. I've also applied a little liquid foundation over this blush when I've felt that I've gotten the color too dark. The best way I have found to apply this blush is either with my fingers or a stippling brush. I really like this product and use it often.
