Question
Does the color come off...
...on your fingers if you scratch your head where the Toppik fibers are?

answer 1
That's something I noticed right off. If you scratch your head, don't use your nails because it will come right off. You kind of have to dab your finger up there- you'll get a little on your finger, but you won't take it all off. If you scratch, you'll remove most of it and leave behind what would look like a tan line in your hair.

Not at all. You just apply it, pat it in, and then use a little hair spray of any kind to lock it in. I even sleep with it in and it doesn't come off on your pillow case.

If you scratch with your nails you can see it under your fingernails, but just lightly rubbing your fingers on the area where you put it doesn't show on your finger afterwards. Its pretty adhesive.

Question
I have a few questions...
(1) My hair is sort of black (I'm Asian) but more on the dark brownish side, especially in the light. Should I get the dark brown or the black?

(2) I see that you are out of stock on the dark brown starter kit. If I am better suited to get the dark brown, when will you have more in stock?

(3) Does it last in your hair all day or will it bleed/run/fall out/thin out eventually?

(4) If you were to use hair products (for ex. hairspray, heat protector, etc.), is it better to apply it before or after the other products or it doesn't matter and have the exact same effect either way?

Thank you for your help!

I can answer your first question in regards to color. My hair sound exactly like yours and I got the dark brown and it was perfect and natural looking. I read a few reviews that said the colors are quite dark so being in between bark brown and black I chose dark brown and am glad I did.

answer 2
1) Colors un dark, so dark brown should work. Sephora will refund if the color is wrong.
2) Product does stay on all day. Seems to adhere well until hair is washed.
3) I use my hair product and style as usual and then apply the fibers and just use fingers to spread somewhat. If using hairspray use after fiber application.

(1) My hair is sort of black (I'm Asian) but more on the dark brownish side, especially in the light. Should I get the dark brown or the black?

Dark Brown is most likely going to be the best fit for you out of the two. However, Toppik Fibers are 100% customizable. You are able to mix the Black and Dark Brown Hair Building Fibers to create your own custom color.

(2) I see that you are out of stock on the dark brown starter kit. If I am better suited to get the dark brown, when will you have more in stock?

As of today (06/27) the Dark Brown Starter kit is back in stock. Sephora is persistent in monitoring inventory levels and will continue restocking all Starter Kits on a regular basis.

(3) Does it last in your hair all day or will it bleed/run/fall out/thin out eventually?

Toppik Fibers are made to last with you through your day. The product needs to be broken down with shampoo. You can sleep with the hair building fibers in and they will last up till your next shampoo.

(4) If you were to use hair products (for ex. hairspray, heat protector, etc.), is it better to apply it before or after the other products or it doesn't matter and have the exact same effect either way?

For best results with the Hair Building Fibers I would apply all the products you currently use on your hair wet just as you are now. Next style you hair and then add the fibers using the Spray Applicator and Optimizer. Then lastly finish with your hairspray just as you currently do.

First you have to take the sifter off which is not easy. I used a special pair of pliers so I did not damage it. I may be a girlie girl but I also have my own tools and can do quite a lot around my house. I have not used the spray applicator yet but I'll tell you what I learned from reading all the reviews & I did see the video. Gently squeeze the bulb do not go full force. I'll tell what someone else said which was a really good example, I just word it differently & give a little more detail. When you put on eyeshadow you don't take your brush & load it up with as much eyeshadow it can hold and apply it. You start off with a lighter layer and you build upon that to get the desired effect. It is the same with the spray applicator. When I applied this to my Mother's hair which she does have really bad spots where you can see her whole scalp it did not take a ton of the product. Also the piece everyone calls a comb is really for along your hairline. Hold it flat against your natural hairline so when you use the spray applicator you have a natural looking hairline & the product does not get on your skin. Hope this helps.

Question
Does it add volume or just cover balding spots?
I am losing a LOT of hair recently. I don't necessarily have balding spots. But my hair is very thin and I have lost almost all of my volume. The description says it makes hair "appear" thicker. From that I'm guessing that it does not actually increase volume. Is that correct? For example, the "fibers".....do they physically bind to the hair and add some thickness or is it just simply a cover?

This is only a cover, it washes out with shampoo. So it doesn't bind to your hair permanently. It gives the appearance of full hair, and it does that very well, but it will only last a day or so. Once you wash your hair, the appearance goes away and you'll be back to normal. It's like wearing makeup- it makes your pores disappear only while you have it on. Same concept.

It isn't a texture for hair volume but rather the fibers attach to the scalp and the hair near the scalp to mask thinness.

I read a lot of other peoples reviews because I did see the video but by the time I received it no more video. From what I understand & the results I achieved from applying it to my Mother's hair I will do my best to help. First of all some of the reviews which were bad about the product the people were not applying it right. The directions are also very incomplete. My Mother has bald spots that no amount of teasing or playing with her hair will cover & like many she's tried everything. The kit is complete and the squeeze applicator does fit on the product you just have to really struggle to get the sifter off. I used special pliers to get it off without damaging it. I did the sprinkle and pat method. I slowly sprinkled and patted the fibers in on the back top of her head where here problem is most noticeable. I did this until you could no longer see any bald spot & it looked perfectly just like it was her own hair. Remember to style your hair the way you like it first. From that spot I worked my way forward to cover all the spots you can see her scalp(make sure you are in a well lit room so you can really see exactly how much or little you need to use). It did not take a lot of the product to get the desired effect. When I was at her hairline I held the plastic comb looking piece against her head so that it would give a natural looking hairline & not wind up on her face(that is what I read it is used for). I have read people complain about the comb(which is not what it actually is) & other people find it useful to separate the hair to get the product closer to the scalp. Her hair looked totally natural & you could not see a bald spot for the 1st time since she started to loose her hair. She washes her hair every fourth day(ex. wash then go the next two days & wash the next day) the product stayed exactly how it originally looked until today. It is not all gone but you can see her bald spots peeking through but not anywhere like if she had no Toppik at all & today is her day to wash her hair. When you read about the product it does say there is a spray to hold the product better but I do not believe Sephora sells that. I used extra hold hair spray. I have not used the spray bulb attachment yet but I will tell you what I learned about using it. Squeeze it very gently & layer do not go full force squeezing it. Someone used the reference of how you would put on makeup like eyeshadow you don't just use your brush & load it up with as much eyeshadow as you can. You start off slowly build upon product to get the look you want. I wish I could tell you my experience with it but I will be doing that the next time my Mom leaves the house. I just want to stress it did not take a ton of the product to get the desired effect. Also I bought the medium brown for my Mother & I was lucky she just had her hair dyed if you do not dye your hair go with a color lighter than the one you would normally pick. I will be ordering the light brown for when the dye is not as strong & maybe will end up using just that I'll have to see. The color did work good but I could see that it was a tad darker than her hair. I hope this was helpful.

Question
Which color do I use if I have red/burgandy hair?
I recently read that Toppix is coming out with a red or auburn color. Do you know when that will be? I was thinking of using a dark brown or maybe a black. My hair is showing gray roots and I need to cover them until I can get my hair color redone by my stylist. What can be a temporary "fix" for those in-between times? Any suggestions?

It does work well for covering grey as it sticks to the hair quite well. I went with a shade slightly lighter than my hair color based on some reviews here and I am glad I did. My hair is very close to being black but I got dark brown and it looks very natural. I also use a product called L'action Paris...its basically a semi-permanent color in a mascara like wand. Its easy to apply and not sticky and heavy like some other products I have tried. I found it at a drug store...its not cheap but it works well and I have tried a lot for in between color time to cover my greys. But I also think you will be happy with Toppik for this as well....just may get expensive if you have a lot to cover.

The product contains aluminum chloride, which, like in antiperspirant, prevents your skin from sweating. It would be a hassle to wash your hair after every time you use it but if you already have an issue with hair loss I wouldn't want to keep it sitting on my scalp for long periods of time. Just my 2 cents.

I used this product on my hairline and it worked well with the hairline and with my hair on the top. If you pull your hair back a lot, just put it on any visible area that's thinning, and it's like magic. It really does make it look fuller and natural.
