spf 15. while that doesn't sound all that impressive the FDA says the spf 15 blocks 95% of harmful UV rays, spf 20 blocks 96%, spf 21-40 blocks 97% and spf 40-50 blocks 98%. there is no such thing as 100% UV protection.

Question
Is this silicone free or not?
The description claims it is silicone free, but the ingredients list silica (which is a name for silicone) as the 9th ingredient. So... Which one is it?

it's a common misconception that silica and silicone are the same thing when they are very different. one is a natural mineral and the other is a synthetic plastic chemical. i found this info online that was helpful:

Although it may appear that the words silicon and silicone can be used interchangeably, there are some significant differences between them. Silicon is a natural chemical element found in great abundance on Earth, primarily as a major component of common sand. Silicon is generally found in a crystalline form. Silicone is a man-made substance derived from silicon and other chemicals, and it may be a liquid or a rubber-like plastic polymer.

Silica is not the same as Silicone. Silica actually restores collagen!
I read on www.beautysupply.about.com that collagen is mostly made up of silica. "When we are deficient in silica the collagen breaks down more quickly."
I hope this helps.

i've found this BB Cream works best when I put it on top of my moisturizer. seems to blend easier and I use much less product that way.

BB creams are actually part moisturizer so I would only add an extra moisturizer if your face is extremely dry or peeling. This product moisturizers very well in my opinion.

I would definitely use a moisturizer underneath. It actually leans more toward foundation or primer instead of providing the dewy hydration your skin needs to lock in moisture.

depends what you mean by "really fair". I'm olive toned but get pretty light in the winter and darken noticeably in the summer - so far it's worked great.
I'd say try it out on just one section of your face, wait a few minutes and see how it blends.

It does have an orangey cast to it in the packaging and when you apply it, that does mellow out a bit. If you have very fair skin it will likely leave a bit of an orange tint on your skin. The "colormatch technology" that others have mentioned isn't universal, it's for a very small range of light to medium skin tones and it really doesn't work for everyone. If you can, test it out or order knowing Sephora has an excellent return policy because this IS an awesome product if it works for you.

Question
OK for rosacea?
I have light to moderate rosacea (mostly redness, sensitive skin, with few bumps). Is this product OK to use?

It should be pretty good in terms of non-irritating ingredients. But remember, rosacea is highly individual and some people react to so-called natural ingredients or certain plant based ingredients, so there's no saying for sure this is a good product. So please don't assume ANYthing is safe or non-irritating until you try it. (I know that's awful, but that's the best practical advice I can give on this product.)

As far as coverage, I think you'll be surprised at how neutralizing and good the coverage is for pink or red areas. You will still likely need concealer in some areas if you have moderate to severe redness, but even in that case, you can certainly use this as a BB SPF base and then apply concealer over it and set that with powder.

I hope this product ends up working for you, it's a really good one!

Samples
Is it possible to request samples of the BB & CC creams? I have bought a few now and it hasn't worked out so if possible, I'd like to try them out before I decide. If this is possible, how do I go about getting the samples?

I look forward to hearing back from you!

Every Sephora I've been in has always been more than happy to make me a sample of anything I want. They have nice-sized sample cups that seal well. Just go into a store and ask. They're very nice about it.

One great thing about Sephora is that you can just ask the sale associates to help you and ask for a sample. They have all these little containers, even mini perfume sprays that you can get, just to try out the products. Also their return policy is great as well.

We recommend visiting your local store and a cast member will be happy to make you a sample of any products that we carry. They can also answer questions for you and make recommendations for other products. We regret that we are unable to send samples from Sephora.com without a merchandise order, and we thank you for your understanding.

Question
what is the shade of this product?
I recently received the REN Satin Perfection BB Cream Sunscreen deluxe sample in Light/Medium. I really liked it and I would like to purchase the full-size version. Is this the same product? I don't see the shade information and I want to be sure I order the right shade.

Thanks for your help!

Question
What is the finish?
In the product description it says it leaves your skin looking " luminous" but in the reviews people said it mattifies their oily skin. What is the finish of this product? (ex. dewy, matte)

My experience is my oily skin looks "normal but healthy" if that helps. I'm pretty oily and a guy, so I like that it's not too "chalky" or "makeup-y" looking.
answered 2 months, 3 weeks ago
BeautyGuy12

answer 2
It is a true "satin" finish. That means it's not dewy, it's not super matte, it's just a natural skin finish. It can be used with powder, but on normal skin, it doesn't need to be set with anything else in order to be a perfect satin finish. If you had very oily skin, I can see how the product would be considered "mattifying" since most formulas add so much slip to the skin that it looks oilier. But for normal or dry skin, it's not drying at all.
