ghd Air Professional Performance Hairdryer

What it is: An award-winning hairdryer that fuses beautiful design with salon-power for faster drying and smooth, sleek, frizz-free results. What it does: Developed in collaboration with GHD scientists and top stylists, the award-winning GHD Air is designed to help you unlock the secrets to a gorgeous salon blowout. The GHD Air uses an industrial ionic generator which is placed closer to the nozzle and to the hair, which means you get the full benefit of the emitted ions to lock in moisture and deliver softer, smoother, shinier results that last longer. The professional AC motor delivers more power and variable temperature controls, and the choice of two nozzles allow you to tailor your blow-dry to your hair type. A cool shot button helps set your style in place with a blast of cold air. Here are some of the benefits of using the GHD Air: -Exceptionally fast drying: the powerful AC motor and patented air filter deliver high pressure air flow for faster drying times. -Smoother results: industrial ionic generator locks in moisture for softer, shinier results that last longer with less frizz and flyaways. -Locked-in style: cool shot button to set your style in place. -Variable power and temperature control: two speeds and three heat settings allow for better control of styling. -Ergonomic Product Design: for balanced comfortable use. What else you need to know: This product comes with a professional-length power cord, a universal diffuser with adapter ring, and a one-year warranty.

oops, my mistake. I was thinking about voltage instead of wattage. It is US voltage, not dual voltage so would need a converter to use outside US. It is 1600 watts although it is AC so the wattage isn't as low as it sounds.

We know that wattage is not a measure of performance, thank you very much. We are not stupid. People that travel internationally would like to know if this is dual wattage or US wattage.

Apologies that this isn't an answer, but seriously 1877SEPHORA?? You are selling this product for $200+ and you can't do a customer the courtesy of finding out basic information for them? As the retailer, YOU need to gather this information for your customers. You basically just admitted you don't know a whole lot about a product you are selling.

Watt's is not a measure of performance. It is a measure of energy consumption. Many professional brands have far less wattage than the drug store guys. Those cheap brands call out wattage because they have nothing else to say.

Question
Noise level
On a scale of 1 to 10 - ten being very noisy and one being extremely quite - how loud would you say the dryer is when on high? I hate how loud my dryer is and feel that it's contributing to hearing loss. I also need to blow dry my dog after a bath and his thick hair takes forever, so this would be nice, but I want something that works well but is also quite. Thanks.

From 1-10 I still give it a 7-8 because it's still loud but soft loud, I don't know if that made sense lol. It's not as deafening as a regular hairdryer but for me it's still loud just softer.

I would say this is just as loud as a typical hair dryer. Not louder, but definitely not quiet.

I have very fragile color treated hair and just want to know if the dryer won't break off my hair from blow drying. I
I normally don't blow dry my hair because it is fragile, but when I go to the hair salon they blowdry it and it comes out nice and smooth. Will I get the same results?

If you use a good brush and blow dry on medium heat, your hair should be fine. I have thin virgin hair that breaks easily and I use this dryer every morning and I always see great results! The key is a good brush! These Drybar brushes from Sephora are great: http://www.sephora.com/full-pint-medium-round-brush-P378166?skuId=1506492.
If you want volume, go for the full pint!

I honestly think you will! Obviously you have to know proper technique on how to dry your hair as they do in the salon, but I have had amazing results. If I spend an extra 5 minutes on my hair with this dyer, it looks like I just walked out of the salon.

This dryer does not come with a diffuser. It does, however, come with a diffuser adapter. This is a nice ring that you place on the dryer when you want to add your own diffuser.

Yes, it came in the box. I haven't tried it yet so can't attest to how universal it is.

The US version has only 1600 watts. The voltage is different for the European one, which is 2100 watts. Sephora sells the US one.

I feel my hair came out with more shine and a silkier feel. If I want a really really sleek look, I put a pea size amount of Josie Marin argan oil on the lower third of my hair (I have really long hair) but for everyday, i don't use anything. Usually I don't even have time to write reviews as I am a mom of 3 little ones but, this dryer is a time saver so I had to share.

I am having the same problem! I cannot get the filter to unscrew, and my husband can't get it either. I ended up vaccuming the filter while it was still attached to the dryer and it seemed to work ok.
