Yes, it is silicone free. It smells great, but I didn't find that it worked well for my wavy hair.

I like to use it afterward, and you don't need a lot afterward if you put moisture into your hair before sealing it with the deva curl gel. I like to jump out of the shower, take out excess water, then put in coconut oil right before the gel. Works well!

This product is best used after the defining gel. I put the gel in my hair right after washing it and let it air dry until it is just damp, then I put the Set it Free in before I leave the house.
